How to use SqlTransaction in .net 2.0 so that when I start reading data from a table, that table is blocked for others (other programs) to read/write to that table? If SqlTransaction is not a good option, than what is?

View 3 RepliesI have a combobox that retrieves data from a database. Occassionally i have to disable some items from the table by setting a value in the table so that item is not available in the dropdown for users. I do this through my SQL query i.e.SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE ADDITEMTODROPDOWN=1
When i have the DropDownStyle set to normal (dropdown) and the application loads the dropdown shows the item from the database which is no longer available for users to select (the item is set to disabled or this is fine and is what im after. I then change the DropDownStyle to DropDownList to make it look like a button so users cannot enter their own items. As soon as i load the form with the combobox the item that i disabled no longer appears as the original text.

How to Mix SqlTransaction?
I've created a global sqlConnection in my app and it works fine for sharing the connection between functions. I have also defined a global sqlTransaction that I'd like to share between functions also, so I don't have to pass it around during a complex update but it's not working as I hoped.

I am trying to extend an application to to write the details from textboxes on a invoice form to an xml file.I have created 3 methods for my invoice class which will open the invoice xml document, write to it, and close it.The open Invoice method creates and invoice.xml file and writes a start tag named invoices.
The WriteInvoice method writes an invoice element for the invoice with attribute named customerName and three child elements named ordertotal, discounTotal and Invoice total. These values are taken from the textboxes form the form.
The CloseInvoice writes the end tag for the root element(invoices) and closes the file.
I have wriiten code for these methods but can only get the open invoice method to work.

The first line is displayed in textboxA while the rest of the lines are displayed in textboxB. How do I accomplish this? Am I able to use the peek method for textboxB but somehow tell it to skip the first line?
