Jan 24, 2010I want to read from one Table in a database and write the information to another Table in the same database. It's all connected but I just can't get it to work at all.

May 11, 2011I am trying to do two things. First I want to write a textbox's info into a XML file I created. Here is the XML File:

Basically there is a form to choose the project name, project version, source, icon and location and I want it to put that info into the given xml nodes which are self explanatory where each label writes too on the XML File.
---Secondly I am trying to make it so those labels mentioned above show the info in the XML. <prjnme> = prjname.text

This is what i do, i first export the data to excel then i import that excel file to another datagrid, this is just for testing cuz i will be getting excels from another computer same program, anyways, there are 2 columns that wheni import the excel file, it doesnt read it it shows in datagrid with no value,empty cell, i dont know why, because in excel the values are there, and all of them are strings sometimes it contains numbers, but theyre manage as string.
I added the images of excel file after i export the datagrid
and image of datagrid after i import that excel file NOTE THE EXCEL VALUES IN EXCEL< and empty in DATAGRID

I pretty much understood how to write text to a file, but I cannot grasp how to READ the information. After I read the information, I would like to add each seperate line to a ListBox. Each line in the text file is a file path for a music file, as the file I wish to read information from is a "custom extension" playlist file. I know what to do after I get the file path, but I do not know how to get the file path from the playlist.

Pulling Info Out Of A Table/spreadsheet?
Apr 28, 2012It's been about... er, how many years since vB5 came out? Since I wrote my most recent project, so I'm struggling to remember things and get used to the new VB2010 environment.
I am trying to figure out the best way to go about pulling information out of a table.
Top row: Mileage of a vehicle
Left column: Year of a vehicle
The data it would then spit back out is the maximum term a bank will finance a vehicle based on year and mileage.
What would be the best way to pull that data? I'm thinking the easiest way to maintain the data is with an excel spreadsheet that is called by the VB app to pull the data, but I've never had to pull data in this format before.

Under that element there are name, tel, and organized listed. Then the address information is listed under the element "adr". VS 02/03 Xml Read & Write?
Dec 21, 2010I am trying to extend an application to to write the details from textboxes on a invoice form to an xml file.I have created 3 methods for my invoice class which will open the invoice xml document, write to it, and close it.The open Invoice method creates and invoice.xml file and writes a start tag named invoices.
The WriteInvoice method writes an invoice element for the invoice with attribute named customerName and three child elements named ordertotal, discounTotal and Invoice total. These values are taken from the textboxes form the form.
The CloseInvoice writes the end tag for the root element(invoices) and closes the file.
I have wriiten code for these methods but can only get the open invoice method to work.
My code for the 3 methods is shown below:

Feb 27, 2010i'm trying to read from a file and copy the text into a 2d array withought the selected item from a list box then rewrite the file from the array into the text file. however it writes a single part of the array times the variable count when i write back to the csv file. within the array everything is correct its only when i rewrite to the file is when the problems occur.

Jan 27, 2010reading and writing files. Let's say I have a text file with multiple lines that I want to be read into my visual basic program. The first line is displayed in textboxA while the rest of the lines are displayed in textboxB. How do I accomplish this? Am I able to use the peek method for textboxB but somehow tell it to skip the first line? Now textboxB is obviously a multiline textbox and I want the user to be able to type something into another textbox (textboxC), press a button, and it will be displayed in textboxA. How do I make the text in textboxC get displayed on the first line of textboxA and move all the other lines down the list?
