Display Search Results In A New Form?
Apr 13, 2011I'm using visual studio 2010 and sql server 2005 to store my data. I'm creating a system that will allow me to find/search for records that are stored within the database. Thing is, i have 2 separate forms for this - one is the find/search page which allows you to enter in as many fields as you want (the more you enter, the more efficient the search is) and the second one is the find/search results page which will show the results from the search.
I'm not using a datagrid as i've already created these forms myself. I'm on a tight schedule because i've spent so much time already trying to get this to work. Do i need to create another dataset and tableadapter and bind the text boxes? how will i code the find/search button so the search will be carried out and the results will appear in the other form?

Mar 8, 2010I am currently building a search page, which includes a textbox and two drop-down lists, a search button, and a datagrid. If results are found and displayed, I would like a label to display:
(e.g.) "24 results found for 'blue sky clouds' "
...where the integer represents the results count, and the keywords and/or drop-down list selections are included in the string.If no results are found I would like the label to display:(e.g.) "No results were found that match your selection. Jan 23, 2012Well I have a list of things I want to search based on multiple points of data...for example Resolution, 3D capable, touchscreen capable....etc....What is the best way for display someone can think of & filtering results by capability, I have none of it typed out, etc...like list of objects & capabilities, etc... alreat...so it can be made any way that is thought to be good(with speed as well) for many different listings...say 1,000 of them & it filters pretty much instantly....reading capabilities & such & the list itself is easy but how can I make a filter(unchecking something brings back things, checking something takes away only since well your adding capabilities to filter selection....I have pictures that can go with items too as well as a name & more information could be given directly with the method or clicking on the picture/item.

Different Results In .NET And VB6 Using FileOpen Openmode.binary?
Mar 22, 2012I am trying to convert a VB6 program to vb.net that parses DVD IFO files but using the openmode.binary and InputString is returning different results then it's VB6 counterpart. When I compare the results in the string variable tmpIFOFileIn it is completely different and of course wrong. how to properly convert this VB6 code to vb.net.

I have a stored procedure which returns multiple select statements (result tables), and I created a Dataset in Reporting Services 2005 with this stored procedure. The problem is that I can not reference the second or third result table, and I can only use the first select statement fields. Is this the limitation on Reporting Services Dataset or is there a way to use multiple table results in one dataset?

Apr 11, 2011I am trying to write a program which performs a binary search. The user will input the name of a state in a textbox.I have a listbox which is populated with the 50 states in ABC order.The middle of the list must be determined and then determine which half of the list the state may be located. If the middle item is less than the state name the state should be in the second half of the list. If it's greater than the state name is should be in the first half of the list. The calculation for looking at the middle itemi the list is:
middle = CInt(first + last)/2)
There is a variable 'flag' which is initially set to false and then will be set to true if the state name is found. The variable first is initially set to 0 and last needs to be set to one less than the number of items in the list.Below is a very rough program fragment.

May 8, 2012changing the way the site search is done from just search a phrase as one string to searching a phrase "as multiple words" search. For example, if I search "cute puppy" right now, it will search it for "cute puppy" as phrase and won't match just "cute" and "puppy". The way the search is implemented is by passing a search phrase to a Stored Procedure in SQL Server.So now, I need to change to site search so when "cute puppy" is searched, it will search two words.... "cute" and "puppy" instead of just "cute puppy". Below is how the store procedure is implemented
