Items Display - Filtering - Search - Based On Multiple Points Of Data

Well I have a list of things I want to search based on multiple points of data...for example Resolution, 3D capable, touchscreen capable....etc....What is the best way for display someone can think of & filtering results by capability, I have none of it typed out, etc...like list of objects & capabilities, etc... alreat...so it can be made any way that is thought to be good(with speed as well) for many different listings...say 1,000 of them & it filters pretty much instantly....reading capabilities & such & the list itself is easy but how can I make a filter(unchecking something brings back things, checking something takes away only since well your adding capabilities to filter selection....I have pictures that can go with items too as well as a name & more information could be given directly with the method or clicking on the picture/item.
I have an ASP Chart (v4) which displays the data I need perfectly. I want it to show labels at the top of the data points and I am having some difficulty with it. Here is my code that works for both series but does not display the labels:
I have a homework assignment to code an application that allows the Prof to display a grade based on the numnber of points he enter. The grading scale is : 0-299 -F; 300-349- D; 350-399- C; 400-449- B; 450-500- A. We are to store the minimum points in a 5 element one dimensional Integer array name intPonts and store the grades in a 5 element one dimensional String array name strGrades. The arrays should be parallel arrays. The procedure should search the intPoints array for the number of points entered by the user and then display the corresponding grade from the strGrades array.
I have stored the minimum points and grades in a one dimensional integer and string array respectively. I have coded the program, and when I put in random points, it gives me the letter grade. For example, if I put in 376 it will display a "C"; if I put in 200, it will display an "F". However, if I put in anything over 449, it will NOT display an "A", it just leaves the lbl blank. I am stumped on how to get the code to read pass 449 points.

I have three controls on my form; Textbox1, cboCity, lstCity When something (lets say "a") is entered in the TextBox1; I want to get each and every item in combobox cboCity that starts with "a" and add them to listbox lstCity.
I have a question about binding the datasource (MS Access database) to a listbox in a VB form. I have created a listbox and in the datasources explorer I have my datasource say SampleDS. I have several columns inside my datasource, say name, age, address in it. If I select name and drag to the listobx in the form, only the entries in the name column will be displayed in the listbox.
I want to know how to filter the name based on criteria. For example, how do I display names whose age >25?
To grab a specific file from a specified directory, read the lines and display them in a text box. What I want to do, is search for multiple text files in a specified directory, display each name in a Listview and, as I click on them, their info is displayed in the text box below.

I have a form with some textboxes on it. The textboxes show values from a table. I have a binding navigator that lets you step through the records in the table and the textboxes update. What I want, is to have a control, say a listbox, that allows you to select a value which will filter the data behind the controls so that you only have one record.
So, for example, say you have a table of contacts. There are textboxes on your form that show name, phone, address etc. You could then have a listbox that showed a list of all the contacts and you could select one, which would in turn the textboxes. The filtering field could be contactID for example.
I am trying to filter a datagrid based upon stepping through records and suming the contents. What i am trying to do is get to select records that equal (or if the sum of records exceed the entry they revert to the previous record) or less than the entries specified in a combobox on a form.

It works ok when filter is on other fields but brings empty on 'CallDate' date field. I have declared the 'CallDate' field in db as long date format in Access.
My client wants that my table be filtered based on the values from a field regardless of its order.
Example: I want to search for a student whose surname is 'Thomas' but the keyword is not the first in the field. The 'Surname' field, instead, contains the value "Ian Thomas".
If I am going to use this code;

It will base the searching on the first characters of the field only.
I have an Address Book project with a listbox. The listbox is bound to the database via the little arrow pop-up box in the corner of the listbox. I have the DisplayMember set to FirstName, and obviously only display the First Name of the contact in the ListBox. Is there an easy way to change it so that it displays the First and Last names? i was able to display a search data/record in my datagridview but my textboxes remains still and wont change to the corresponding row i have selected in my datagridview. other meaning of my doubt is how to bound a textbox with my datagridview so that it should display the details in the texbox of whichever row i'll be selecting from the datagridview
i'm currently working on my thesis e-voting system. and i need to modify my search candidate and search voter form. the data from my database is already loaded in my listview when the system. what i want to do is while i am typing in the search text box, at the same time the items in my list view is being filtered without clicking the search button.

I'm using this code to search a msacces db and display the data in a listview.The Search is fired after the text_changed event of a textbox. So each character is a search and also each backspace(here's where the real pain is) it will search. When I use backspace its very very slow! When I use 100 or even a 1000 records no problem but this db has 10.000 + records.Whitch event can I use to solve this problem or how can I adjust the code for faster search? ALs o when I test on a windows7 system, dualcore, 2gb memory, when I press a key it will take time before I see the character in the textboxs? my homework question is to display the selected items from a listbox (multi-extended) in a label. I need to display all the selected names in a label. the simplest most uncluttered way of doing this. This is what I've got but it doesn't work.
I have a child form which contains a list of names and information, like age, sex, etc, in a multicolumn listview that gets populated from an xml file on the form load.There is also a combobox on this form that contains different Ages and when the user selects an age in the combobox I have it so the listview clears and the data reloads then removes all the rows that don't contain the matching "age" value in the age column.This works but it's really slow since each time a user makes another choice from the Combobox the whole listview is repopulated from the xml file.[code]I was thinking about doing the Name filter about the same way except on the textbox keyup event, but I fiqured I'd work at getting this working better first since this is way too slow.I don't really know any way of filtering the listview other than deleting the entries that don't match what's in the combobox.But then I end up reloading the whole thing when another selection is made from the combobox.

What I'm trying to do - VB 2005 express and sql 2005 express editions - Trying to set up just a basic hardware/software inventory program. As is I've got separate tables for computer and software licenses...with ComputerID and LicenseID primary keys respectively...where I'm bumping into walls is that I wanted to be able to link them together with a foreign key, for example the computer record would have a foreign key for LicenseID and when a license would get installed the ID would go in and there'd be a nice pretty link. However I run into scenarios where a computer might not have any software installed...or might have more than 1 software item. Or a single software item may be installed on 1 computer, multiple computers, or nowhere. It possible to have that single foreign key field link to multiple records from the opposite table?
What was originally suggested to me was to have a 3rd table called Installations. It'd have 3 rows...one named InstallationID as the primary key, and 2 foreign key rows named ComputerID and LicenseID that linked to the other tables, so that when a license was installed, a record would be added to the Installations table, and later on when we wanted to see where all a particular license was installed or what licenses a single computer had, the table could be filtered by computer ID or license ID and all matching records could be displayed. When I tried that out though I'm having a heck of a time getting the correct items to display.
Just as a basic test i set up a new form and dragged the tables onto it from the Data Sources window using "Details" view for each of them, so that it set up the table adapters and binding sources and navigator for me. I got rid of the auto-added labels + textboxes on the form and added just a couple new textboxes, 1 linked to the licenseID and one to another row i had in that table for productkey...tested it and it moves through the records fine and the correct data shows up in each box to correspond with the other. now though I'd like to add another control to display each of the ComputerIDs that are linked to the particular license being displayed in the other controls via the foreign keys routing through the Installations table, but I'm not having much luck.
I am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column.Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column.Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.

I need to check if "4.1.1.1" (example) is greater than "4.1.4" (False in this case), how can I do this in VB.Net when there are multiple decimal points in the 'integer'?
