Isn't Array.GetLowerBound Always Zero
Mar 27, 2011Array.GetUpperBound is very essential if someone wants to loop through multi-dimensional array.But Its cousin Array.GetLowerBound is totally useless. I believe it's always gonna be zero. And wondering why on earth we need a function which returns zero when we can just type it?

Expect The IsInterned Method To Return Null?
Feb 9, 2012Take the below example. I would expect the IsInterned method to return null, because this string can't possibly be in the intern pool having started up the test app for the first time? I would also expect, that if I did something like string.intern("this112233StringCan'tPossiblyBeInTheInternPool!£$%") first, then this would legitimately be returned by IsInterned from the pool. I've also done the same in c# and the behaviour is the same.
Whenever I use strings in code, I tend to do something like textbox.text = string.intern("someValue") etc or if (textbox.text = "someValue") etc. Infact, whever strings are being used, I've gotten in to the habbit of using string.intern. Is this a bad habbit rather than using constants or the resources file?

However, i've checked with the parameters and its type. it is correct.I found something fishy, that method doesnt have return value. Jul 10, 2011This is a school project, supposed to be a beggining VB.Net class. I'm having difficulty with one section, sorting the array is OK but I need to only return a 3 of it. I had it working when I was selecting single files but when I went to selecting multiple files at once the formula stopped working for me. I'm retuning the array just fine but the select a 3rd seems to just pass by without being acted upon. I've been working on this a long time and don't know where to look for an answer. Nov 24, 2009I have a program which connects to an FTP server. my program needs to retreive the directory list of the server. I am doing this in the style of an OpenfileDialog control. now I can get all the information and fill the listview control. however the function I use to fill the listview control with the directory listing and file listing, returns a list(of string)
Because of this I can't determine if a file is a file and if a folder is a folder. I myself know which of them are because while getting the directorylists I check for a string value of D which means directory. if it doesn't have a D then it's a file.
