We realized we were using VB .NET 2008 and the book was programmed in VB. NET 2005. Will the code work. I create a new Windows Forms application and add an AboutBox form which is built-in into Visual Studio. I add a button to Form1 to show the AboutBox when clicked.The AboutBox form has a label with the text "Version" on it. The following code is supposed to add the application's version to that label at run-time:

Even when the application is published to the desktop, it still does not work. It does, however, reflect the correct version number in the title of a subfolder in the Applications folder that is created when the application is published.

I have been developing windows and web application using Visual Basic 2005 for a long time. Now i want to change from Visual Basic 2005 to Visual Basic 2008. I would like to know what ever projects i have done in visual basic 2005 will works in Visual Basic 2008. Will the existing code in visual basic 2005 supports Visual Basic 2008 or do i need lot of modification. I haven't used VB 2008 but i hear that most of the code which written in visual basic 2005 supports visual basic 2008. What are the things i need to take care when working the existing projects in visual basic 2008.

View 2 RepliesI have a form that works on my local Machine I created into. I have Office 2007 on this machine. I created the Form with the Excel 12 Reference. I move the Entire conetence of the Project folder to my work computer. Which has Office 2003. Do I need to recreate the form with the Excel 11 reference. I could not get the form to work on work computer. IT has a com error. I am acessing the EXE for the debug folder w/in the Bin Folder.

I need to pass the values that I generate from SQL queries back to my VB code-behind window so I can apply a bunch of program functions to them. The queries work like a charm, and look something like:
SELECT Max(Number) FROM .dbo[00Masterlist] WHERE (County) = @County
and then in the next screen of the "Configure Data Source" tool I set up the WHERE and all is well.However, this information is only the beginning of my obligation to the project.It will display just fine in any data view I choose, but that's not what I want it for.I want to code with it from there. I've tried setting up the SQL as a string variable in the VB, but it reads the string as a literal set of characters instead of as SQL.I've tried stealing it from the form it prints to in a querystring, but that got really really messy.
Why Wont This Code Work?
I Have a password safe program that allows you to enter various passwords from different websites and adds them to a password protected list which then saves them to a file and then the file gets encrypted then when the program starts it decrypts the file and loads the list into the password protected listbox
Overall a very hard program to hack but there is a problem but i dont know what it is.
I Am Using the DES Cryptography module and no problems show up on the normal panel

His project is finished but he didnt (and still doesnt) have time to fix a couple of bugs with his code....Basically, he has written a small VB application that closes SWF flash files if the CRC matches from a list... So when an SWF is loaded into explorer the SWF is hash checked and then closed if it matches from the "hashcheck.txt" file.
All is working apart from 2 small bugs:
1) %^&{}[]#`� - dont work.Ive found that If there is any of these charactors in the folder or filename structure the file doesnt get checked/closed.
2) Network paths do not work.. (maybe is part of above bug?)

I'm trying to select all the work's accidents between two dates, but my datatype in sql server 2000 is varchar instead datetime.
For example when i want the fields from 01/01/2010 to 01/10/2010 it shows me all the values from 01 to 10 but from other year and month. I know the easy way to do it is changing my datatype into the database but when i do it the value saved into the table is 01/01/1900.

I created this ASP.NET Web application and I can't get the amoritization table(MonthlyPaymentBox) to loop correctly. I think the problem is somehow in my code I am setting the TotalLoan = 0, but I just can't locate where that is happening. I assume this because instead of of starting the current balance at the users input, it starts at 0.
