DotNetNuke, Check What Language The User Is Currently Viewing The Webpage In
Mar 29, 2010
How would I be able to check what language the user is currently viewing my DotNetNuke webpage in?
If I'm only giving the options of english (canadian) and french (canadian), how would I check?
I've tried looking into currentculture, but haven't found anything yet.

Been working on a Web Browser in VB 2008 Express, and so far things have been going good. I have run into a little problem though. I have a menu bar at the top of the browser as normal and one of the items selects is "View" and then under that "Page Source".
Now, i have added the following code and it works as expected but one problem. When the box opens to display the web page source it has no scroll bars, minimize or maximize buttons to manipulate the page.
Private Sub PageSourceToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PageSourceToolStripMenuItem.Click
Dim pagelSource As String = WebBrowser1.DocumentText
MsgBox(Me.WebBrowser1.DocumentText)
End Sub
I think the problem is that I am using "MsgBox" . Would there be a better way to do this?

Typically I'd post some code and ask how to do something. This time I don't even know where to start. I need to check if a webpage is accessable. We are using adobe connect, there's a webpage that you can check that will tell you if connect is up and running. How would i go about doing this?

I am working to a big solution that is almost finished. The language interface is Romanian. Now I have a problem because I have to make an option at login in which user can chose the language - and I have to create all the software in Romanian and English languagesd.
My intention is to create inside of o database (because my application is working with an sql database) a table named lang_tbl and in which I will put all the words and text that I have used in the application in romanian on one columnb and in English on another column and when I start the application I will load all the rows from the table in an array together with the unique ID's. And in runtime I will use the unique ID for every text that I have in the application.

I'm writting a vb application that will go out and pull data from an internal webpage which I have no control over. I need to check a checkbox on the webpage. The checkbox ID is "Checkbox".The checkbox has javascript code in behind it that executes an onclick command: onclick="getMore(); return false; I've written code to perform the check of the checkbox but I guess the onclick is not happening. Here is my code so far. The user is given a form, they type in a # (SR.Text) and hit GO:
Code:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
If SR.Text <> Nothing Then
[code]....
As I stated ealier the javascript "onclick" is not executing.

I need to check if a webpage exists if it does whether a certain string exists anywhere on the page. Preferably I'd like to do this without a webbrowser control, so that images don't have to be downloaded and it doesn't have to be rendered.

I am making this program that has a loop that goes to a website and fills in a form within the loop. But first, here is my code thus far
Dim message As String = TextBox3.Text
Dim loopnumber As Integer = TextBox4.Text 'makes the necessary variables
Dim browser As New WebBrowser
Dim url As String
[Code] .....
But what happens is that the loop runs a few times then it errors on the setattribute line (line 19 above) with
NullRefrenceException was unhandled
And I have a feeling that it is not loading the page fully before it tries to fill in the form.

I am building a program which relies on getting info from a twitter user. My idea was, I could either: A. Search the twitter user's feed for the current time. Or B: Get a email notification when he tweets, and send a sound. If I go with I would need to know how to search a webpage, get the time, and ring a sound if the time is present. If I go with B, I would need to know how to check email, and play a sound if a new email is recieved. Which one should I go with, and how would I do the things that I would need to know?

In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR & nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

How would I go about having my program monitor all open (or at least the current active) Internet Explorer windows and their current URLs? Basically, I want my program (running in system tray) to monitor the web page that is being viewed in an Internet Explorer window (NOT an integrated web browser control), and if it detects the loading of a specific URL address, execute whatever code.

I have several DNN modules that I wish to update silently, using the portal's built-in module upgrade facilities called from a separate application, in this case a Windows service. I was able to make it all work with version 4.3 of the portal by modifying the DNN source in key areas to allow DotNetNuke.dll to function outside of a web application. I'm now trying to do the same thing with the 4.9.0 source code and I'm having problems.
Everything works fine until DNN tries to read from the database. I have my Windows service project, the DNN library project, and several other related projects loaded in one VS solution (the additional projects are the same ones that are in the main solution file provided with the DNN source). I call PaInstaller.Install in my service to update each module. Execution gets to reflection.vb and then it tries to create a DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider object based on the type name. It raises an exception when calling System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetType. The exception says:
Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider' from assembly 'System.Web, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'
I read this to mean it simply couldn't locate the DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider.dll assembly. What's strange is that assembly is in the Bin folder for the DNN library project, and I also have it in the folder where my Windows service is running. The actual SqlDataProvider project is also loaded in the solution. I can't for the life of me understand why the runtime environment can't locate the assembly.
Has anyone tried something like this before, or know what could cause an assembly not to be found while stepping through the DNN source? Am I better off using something other than BuildManager.GetType to get an instance of the SQL provider type?
