Programmatically I want to download files from remote website to local drive.I have already tried Msxml2.XMLHTTP, SHDocVw.ShellWindows and Postmessage API, but not able to download (In VBA and .Net also).Remote website requires User ID, Password and token to login then only I can navigate through webpage and download the files.
I have been looking for a method to download a file that is created by a .Net web site ( 3rd party so I can't control the download method ) and sent through the browser via response.writefile. The file is generated by the web page and then forced to the browser so I have to "walk" web site.
Browser Automation: I have tried to use AutoIT to automate the browser ( both IE and Firefox ) but ran into issues with each one. IE won't let me disable the download manager so I get popups and the Firefox component won't walk the DOM correctly to find the unnamed elements I need to access.
Web Browser Components: I also tried the GeckoFX component for VB.net but when you click the button it does not download the file. The WebBrowser control will download the file but still has all the popups that keep me from doing it with an unattended program.

The web site requires authorizaion and I can't get that to work either. I was able to login to Facebook with a userID and password but this site has not been co-operating.

Im writing a program to download a file from a official website every Sunday. The adress of this site keeps changing. Does anyone know how I can link to this address?
[URL]
I've highlighted the part of the adress that changes. As you can see, it's a date, but not nessesarily the current date. It could be yesterday, or the day before. I've tried something like this:
Dim link link = "http:www.fiskeridir.no/content/download/4641/30774/version/254/file/Register-internett-*.xlsx"
I am using a WebBrowser-Control to fill in a webform and then click at a button, this currently results in a standard Download File Dialog (you get these if you download a file using internet explorer), but instead, I have to catch this file and save it automatically with a by me defined name to a specific folder.I am trying to code a little application in vb.net which download the Export-file from my wordpress-blog, and I want to do this completely without user-interaction.Currently everything works, except the downloading of the file.I tried to catch it with the event System.Windows.Controls.WebBrowser.Navigating(ByVal Object, ByVal System.Windows.Navigation.NavigatingCancelEventArgs) but I don't see where to download the file from?
How can I use visual studio to login to a remote website?I've been trying using the WebBrowser control but I can't figure out how to actually change the values of form fields.

Is there any way to download multiple files at the same time from a remote server? How I am doing it currently is I get a list of files from the target folder on the server then I loop through that list & download each file 1 at a time. For 100 small files it takes about 45 seconds. I'm guessing that the bulk of the time it takes is logging in to the server for each file to download, so 100 files means it has to login, download & logoff 100 times. Is it possible to login just once, download the 100 files then logout?
I can already download one file at a time (as long as i know the file name) from my web server using :[code]But I want to be able to simply download everything in the url... is there any simple method for doing this in visual studio 2008 vb

I need to download serveral years worth of files from a web site, the web site posts files daily in "Date".csv. How do I write the code in vb.net to get the string value for the dates? I know that you can do something like : Dim start date = #11/01/2009# and Dim end date= Now.
How do I get these values so I can incorportate them in a string? And then loop through each value.
It will need to start with the first date an download that file, then loop through all the dates downloading each file until it has reached the end date. I already have the code written to extract the info i need from the document and import into a sql server, my only issue is the date range string issue
I am new to Visual Basic. I have Visual Basic 2010 Express. I am planning to make a program that can download files from a website to put on an SD Card to Soft Mod, or hack it. I want it so that the user clicks on a radio button based on what System Menu their Wii is running on. There is currently, System Menu 4.0 or less, System Menu 4.2, and System Menu 4.3.
They also have to choose a region from a List Box. The current options are:
Region U (Americas) Region K (Korean) Region J (Japanesse) Region E (European)
I also want it so that the user can choose where to download the installation files for the Wii soft Mod.
I want to have a button that when the user clicks on it, a pop up asks them where they want to download the files to appear, once they choose a location, i want it to download a file based on what they chose and i also want it so that it tells them what to do with the files and where to put them.
I usually download file using following code:My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("url of the file","filepath to save the file")But recently I encountered a site that only allow file download if you click it from its site and not via direct downloading from vb.net code. How to download file from http server that requires a referral before allowing the download?
I have tried a few things like converting HTML to XML and then using an XML navigator to get input elements but I get lost whenever I start this process. What I am trying to do is to navigate to a website which will be loaded using textbox1.text.Then download the html and parse out the input elements like . username, password, etc and place the element by type (id or name) into the richtextbox with the attribute beside the name.[code]Any clues or how to properly execute an HTML to XML conveter, reader, parser?

I guess that I'm not the first who ask this, but what is the easiest way to use threads in VB.NET? I mean, I need to download some string from a remote server and then to show that string in the GUI, so I have to use some callback function to call it in the main thread. I found different approaches for this, but all seems very difficult compared to Python where (with GTK) I used something like: gobject.idle_add(callback_function, parameters) and "callback_function" was executed in the main thread. How I do that in VB.NET?
I want to download thousands of files from the web and save them locally. What is the most efficient way? It is important the failures timeout within 10 seconds.
Is there a better way to stream one stream into another? Maybe a smaller buffer, like 1024 bytes at a time, is more efficient for large files?
Dim w_req As System.Net.HttpWebRequest = CType(System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create("http://blah.blah.blah/blah.html"), System.Net.HttpWebRequest)
I have created a application in vb.net. I am using Web Browser control in it.With this Web Browser control I open an URL and tries to Download something, it will populates an dialog for "File Download" to Open/Save/Cancel for the file..I am downloading the .ZIP file, and it will not show the checkbox for Automatically Do.Is there any way to perform the Download operation at the backend, means it will not ask me for such options.
I am very very new to VB.NET and would like to ask a simple question. I want to create a vb.net program and allow visitors to a website to download this program. However, I prefer not to have visitors download a zip folder. I would like to have a program that just gives a prompt to save in a selected folder, once the saved file is selected it prompts the person to download, and then when finished prompts the person to run the program. The reason is twofold:
1. I don't like the extra step involved with unzipping the file. and 2. I don't like the visitors having to look for the "main" file program within the new downloaded folder. So is there any way to have just one file for others to download without having it in a zip folder?
Reading a .txt file in VB.net. My file path is C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt.
This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?
able to give me a script that i will be able to grab a file version of an specific file from multiple remote machines. I have a list of machines in Txt file ... i want the script to read the list.. and generate a new file that have the Machine names with File version.
I am developing an Application in VB.Net 2.0. I have a module which would copy files from the Local Machine to a shared folder on remote machine. This shared folder on the remote machine is an authenticated folder. So, after searching on the Internet I found the following piece of code.[code]Another point to note is that when I connect to the File Share using Windows Explorer and then try to execute the application, it works properly.I am not sure why I am getting the error when I do not connect to the Shared Folder using Windows Explorer.Do I have to set some property so that the Credentials passed in the authentication are used.I also checked some posts that suggested setting up Mapped Drive to the Shared Folder on the Local machine and then to copy the file using IO.File.Copy function. However, I cannot use this as this Remote Folder should be only accessed through the application and not in any other case by the User. The users will not even have the credentials to this remote Server as it will be configured by the admin. So, Is there any way in which I can set this up and transfer the files from local machine to a remote shared folder?
