Mar 18, 2009I am selecting a directory and then I want to loop through the files and check which xls and which docs are password protected and drop their names into column A in excel. I haven't gotten to the part of inserting into excel yet.I am trying to figure out how to check for password protected. I don't want to have to open each file separately.I am currently testing with excel, in a test directory i have one password protected xls and the other one is open. When i run my app both of them give me the message that they are password protected.I am not trying to crack password here...i am trying to enter the file names of the password protected xls and then remove them from the directory.

Jun 30, 2011I am developing a website in ASP.Net and VB.Net to allow users to upload and download files from and to an FTP site and my desktop.
I have successfuly got the upload side working.
As far as the download part is concerned, I have so far got it so that when the user goes to the download page, the FTP file list appears so you can see the files that are currently residing on the FTP site.
I was wondering if there is a way that I can program my site so that the user can select one of the files and click on the 'Download' button that I have?

May 1, 2009I have several files that are linked to other files but due to certain information in each file they are password proected. I wrote the program to open each file and than close in a particular order so that all files are updated and than closed. Here is the problem: I can not get the program to auto enter the password.
The code is simple so far

The problem is that I have to enter the password in for all files. Which of course the average user will not have. Can somebody please help with the code for the password. If you post a code use the password "team" so that I know exactly how to do the code.

Jun 18, 2009I am programming using VB-2005 on a Vista Based machine. I am trying programmatically to open a PDF file that is Password Protected. I have worked out the steps required to open a non-protected PDF. Adobe tells me that it is not possible to pass a password to the PDF using the objects that come with the PDF Control. My question is can this be done in some other way, e.g. with WinExist etc.? Is WinExist and other such commands even available in Visual Basic?
