View 1 RepliesI would like to load a GIF file, and start with the first pixel and check to see if that pixel color is closer to Black, Red, Green or Yellow, then take what ever color it closest matched to and output that color as a number, 0, 1, 2 or 3. So just for a small example a 5x4 GIF would be converted to something like this: 0112223322220111332?

how to get color form a certain pixel from a bitmap image, but i cant find function getPixel in the picturebox object.
View 5 RepliesIve been working on creating a side scroller game, and the back color of my pictureboxes needs to go. when transparent, it shows through the program and onto whatever is active in your Windows os(usually Visual studios).
I am trying to rip pixel color off of the background image picturebox( the level), and replace parts of the character picture box that show transparency with the level art. there may be poor logic in my code?
Heres my code:
Dim newImage As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox1.Image)
Dim backImage As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox2.Image)
Dim ximg As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox3.Image)
[code]....
not the best idea, but all i get is one color for all the level pixels placed in the new image, which is odd. any poor logic you see in this code that could allow the newImage.setPixel not to be 1 color? when i breakpoint, it is recieving different colors from the backimage.getpixel, but only putting one shade on for setpixel somehow. im not going for an accurate color read from the background yet, just wondering why im getting 1 pixel color for the whole picturebox background when being changed.
Is there a quick way to check the color of a pixel on the screen?

I'm not sure if this should be here or in the Graphics subforum. Basically, I want to simulate the monitor(s) going black (it's an immature April Fool's Day prank). My initial thought was to create a borderless form that is the size of all the monitors with a backcolor of black. Then, slowly, increase the opacity of the form. This approach works great as far as the visual effect I'm trying to achieve...the problem is that it's a form. If the form is on top - while you can *see* windows below it - you can't interact with them. I'm wondering if there is a way to create the same visual effect without using a form so that the PC will remain usable while the monitor appears to slowly be getting darker?

How can I find out the pixel colour of a certain point on a web browser. For instance,WebBrowser1.getPixelColor(0,0) would get the rgb colour value of pixel 0, 0.It doesn't have to be rgb it might be hsl or whatever.The web browser is showing a local web page that is hosted on a network. If there is an error then the screen goes all grey. What I want to do is, if this does happen, display an alert message like - "An error has occurred

I would like to move the rectangle to the right by 1 pixel each time the timer1_tick is started. At the same time, I would like to clear out the previous boxes after making a new one. This is to make the box looks as if it is moving to the right.
In either of these (preferably Vb6), is it possible to replace a specific pixel color with a defined color? For example, if i scan my screen for 100,200,150, is there a way i can replace every instance of that with a specific color?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to draw a black border around a ToolStripButton. This is the code I am using and it only draws the border on 2 sides. Dim clrMenuBorder As Color = Color.Black Dim borderPen As New Pen(clrMenuBorder)
Dim rect1 As New Rectangle(0, 0, e.ToolStrip.Width, e.ToolStrip.Height)
e.Graphics.DrawRectangle(borderPen, rect1)
I have to draw a black line across the center of the picture from one side to the other, how do I do that. Here is the code:
Dim bmp As Bitmap
Dim x, y As Integer
Dim pixel As Color
lblLeft.Image = Image.FromFile(tbFileName.Text)
bmp = Bitmap.FromFile(tbFileName.Text)
' manipulate bmp here
lblRight.Image = bmp
I have created tooltips on a form from the toolbox and defined them as owner draw. I tied them to either a panel or a grid and they show up as black boxes the size that would contain the text that is assigned. If I had two areas next to each other, the text shows up. Neither the background or the forground color is black, so the black of the box is not from a color assignment. This has worked at one time and I do not know what changed.
View 2 RepliesI have a form that uses a button to draw a line and a second button to draw a rectangle. I have a third button to clear the form but can't find a code example to code the Clear button.
View 4 RepliesI see that the Line method is replaced with DrawLine, however; it seems like DrawLine must treated as an object as follows:
Private Sub Form1_Paint(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e _
As System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs) Handles MyBase.Paint
Draw a solid black line 25 pixels from the top of the form.[code].....
When I attempt to use this code (call it), I must somehow bring about an event, but I haven't found how to do that.How do I "call" this sub?
How does the CheckBox control draw that black check mark in the white box? I can't install .Net Reflector or anything here on my work machine so could someone post the code (vb.net or c# is fine with me)?
Or if anyone knows how to do it (I have an 8x8 Bitmap object I'm drawing on already) I'd like a hand since my math isn't working out correctly[code]...
Under the MouseLeftButtonUp event handker store the first coordinates of the lines second endpoint. Then call the length method to obtain the distance between the two endpoints(the lines length). Fianlly display the line on the canvas and the line's length in the Length=Label. Below is the code I have so far. There are no errors, but when I run the application nothing happens.
Private Sub lineCanvas_MouseLeftButtonUp(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Input.MouseButtonEventArg... Handles lineCanvas.MouseLeftButtonUp
Dim distance As Double
endPoint = e.GetPosition(lineCanvas)

View 4 RepliesI have a datagridview in my application. and I have created a function for searching different words in datagridview. I have made my application in visual basic.
I am trying to draw a rectangle in a PictureBox (100 x 50)
Using gr As System.Drawing.Graphics = Picbox.CreateGraphics
Dim rect As New System.Drawing.Rectangle(10, 10, 80, 30)
gr.DrawRectangle(Drawing.Pens.Blue, rect)
End Using
From looking at the examples in my book, I "think" it should work, but alas, tis not working - nothing is drawn.
Public Class Form1
Private opsets As New List(Of OpSet)
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
opsets.Add(New OpSet(Me, 100, 300))

User launches the application, enters width of circle, then enters width and height of rectangle and presses the button. Then app draws the circle with rectangle inside of it (if it fits). App should output the coordinates x1;y1 , x1;y2 , x2;y1 , x2;y2 (corners of rectangle) somewhere on form and would be great if it could post those coordinates on x and y axes (optional).

Regarding line 1, the author says, "To instantiate an object in code, you create a variable that holds a reference to an instantiated object".!Regarding line 2, he says "the CreateGraphics method is pretty complicated, but for now, just know that it instantiates a new object that represents the client area of the current form".So now I have two new instances, the one from line 1 - an instance of a graphics object, and this one from line 2 representing the client area of the form.The rest of it is pretty clear; But Why can't I draw the rectangle around the picturebox itself? Why do I have to draw it around the "instance" of the picture box?
Scott Wisniewski wrote an interesting article about drawing maps with VB -[url]...
I wrote a quick question at the end of this blog in which I asked for code updates and raster (pixel) maps two months ago without having heard back.
It seems that his mapping approach deals with polygons rather than rasters (pixels). Does Scott's approach allow to build raster maps?
Does anyone know a similar article that specifically addresses raster maps?
