Color.FromName To Return A Solid Black Color When The Function Doesn't Recognize Any Text In The String Passed To It?
Jan 29, 2012
[URL] That way if the string that is not recognised that is passed to Color.FromName it returns a SolidColor of
Color.Black = Color.FromARGB(255,0,0,0)
That way, Forms and controls that only support SolidColors are supported.Installing VB6 on Windows 7?

How can i use the color dialogue to return the color selected as a string? So if i was to select red i would like the return to be "Red" and so on so fourth.Another thing i would like to ask is if it is possible to return the color selected as a string in hex color code form (like what is used in HTML for example #FFFFFF, #000000 and so on so fourth).I have a feeling though that it can only be returned as R G B integers but maybe there is a way of converting these to hex color codes?

How can I programmatically reset my form background from a picture to a solid color. I have no trouble changing it to a picture or even changing it to another picture, but when I try to change it back to a solid color, it won't work.
me.backcolor=color.red 'OK
me.backgroundimage=my.resources.dog 'OK
me.backgroundimage=(none) 'error
me.backgroundimage=my.resources.none 'error
How do I reset it back to a color? It's stuck in a picture mode.

msgbox("It's your eye",64,"Yeap!")
Or if it's too complex maybe just recognize the color?

Provided the following
vb.net Private Function isBlue(ByVal aRGB As Color) As Integer
If aRGB.R < 30 And aRGB.G < 30 And aRGB.B > 170 Then
[CODE]....
I use it with the following:
vb.net Dim count As Integer = 0
Dim img3 As New Bitmap(DirectCast(CameraTable.Controls("camera" & z.ToString), PictureBox).Image)
For x As Integer = 10 To 16
Works great. Takes a small square and tests for the blue color indicated by the aRGB value.
What I am trying to do now is test for all Black (as opposed to blue). I want to copy that isBlue Sub to a "isBlack" Sub and perform a like test, but I do not know what to use for this part:
If aRGB.R < 30 And aRGB.G < 30 And aRGB.B > 170 Then explain those values and what changes to each one does?
I've edited the code some:
vb.net Dim bluepixels As Integer = 0
Dim blackpixels As Integer = 0
Dim img3 As New Bitmap(DirectCast(CameraTable.Controls("camera" & z.ToString), PictureBox).Image)
[CODE]...
And in the sub I am testing for an R, G, and B value less than 3 (black should be all 0's) I'm still interested in how to manipulate those RGB values to test for other colors, or very specific hex colors.

Even with <label>.forecolor = Color.Black. I find that my labels' borders are not {255,0,0,0} but rather {255,100,100,100), a middlish gray, Is there some system setting (e.g., themes, Silverlight) from which the standard label draws its color?( I am familiar with the sub-classing work-around, but have hundereds of instances that would have to be changed.)

How do I make VB.net console recognize the color red and green at XY-axis? I start up the program. The program check...if X450 and Y503 has a green pixel or something like that...do this. If X450 and Y503 has a red pixel or something lik that...goto line number. You know what I mean? I took the X450 and Y503 as random numbers.

I have a form with a lot of LineShapes on it, and basically what I'm trying to do is make certain lines a blue colour and others a black colour, depending what it's in an array of integers. Each line is called line1, line2 etc. So if one of the values in the array is 3, then line3 would be coloured blue.
I have the following code to handle all the lines more easier:
MeterArray = New PowerPacks.LineShape() {line1, line2, line3, line4, line5}
However, since I'm going to have about 50 seperate lines, this is going to look quite messy when I reach line50. So my question is, is there a tidyier way of handling these lineshapes.

So I have a Vertical Scroll which enables you to change the Foreground color of the highlighted text inside the Rich TextBox. Here is the code of the Vertical scroll named Vscrollbar1:
RichTextBox1.SelectionColor = Color.FromArgb(VScrollBar1.Value)
It does indeed work. Then I have a button that makes the Rich Textbox not Visible. Using Richtextbox1.visible=False Then I have an open button, which makes it Visible again. But what I wanted is that the text inside the Rich Textbox to be color Black; but the color of the from the scroll keeps appearing. Here is my code for the Close Button:
Richtextbox1.SelectionColor=Color.Black
I even changed it to this:
Vscrollbar1.Value=0
But still no difference.

I am using the cursor converter to set both
dim cCon as cursorconverter = new cursorconverter
me.cursor = cursorconverter.ConvertFrom(myCursor.cur)
and
windows.forms.cursor.current = cursorconverter.ConvertFrom(myCursor.cur)
the reason for setting both is that otherwise the cursor will not always have the desired appearance. I know that cursors can be rendered in color, like 3D-Bronze, windows animated, hands and variations.

Well I've been working on a web designer and I wanted to be able to color different keywords and strings enclosed in quotes. Now I've been able to color the keywords but every time I try to color a string in quotes it colors the from the beginning of the document to the end of the quoted string. I've tried looking at samples and apply those methods to the code but it still colors all the text in front of the quoted string as well.This is the sub I'm using to color the text.
Public Sub ProcessText()
Try
LockWindowUpdate(_sourceRTB.Handle)
[code].....

I see that the Line method is replaced with DrawLine, however; it seems like DrawLine must treated as an object as follows:
Private Sub Form1_Paint(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e _
As System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs) Handles MyBase.Paint
Draw a solid black line 25 pixels from the top of the form.[code].....
When I attempt to use this code (call it), I must somehow bring about an event, but I haven't found how to do that.How do I "call" this sub?

I would like to load a GIF file, and start with the first pixel and check to see if that pixel color is closer to Black, Red, Green or Yellow, then take what ever color it closest matched to and output that color as a number, 0, 1, 2 or 3. So just for a small example a 5x4 GIF would be converted to something like this: 0112223322220111332?

I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?

I have a array of pixels. And I would like to Quantize them.
For Example
FF00FF,00FFFF stuff like that, but most are custom colors and are not a standard 256 color palette. So I need code to convert a color to a 256 color. I dont have any idea on how to do this, but thats why I came here. I do not want to use System.Graphics.Image.Palette or anything like that as this project uses arrays for images. I would like to if at all possible be able to convert a R, G, B color to 8bit, 16bit, 256bit and possibly use the HSL or NeuQuant method or something close to that, or maybe even some other methods of doing it. I do need to be able to do this for a single pixel, but I will also need a method for a array of them.
