I am trying to generate a report using Crystal studio that takes a public variable from the vb.net application. I think the best way to do it is to just dynamically give the filter to the report at runtime, but I can't figure out how to set it up to take any information at runtime.
View 1 RepliesOn runtime about the number of columns to show (mainly remove columns that are available and then shift the remaining columns).. I can view the reports in a report viewer normally all I need is to be able to edit the columns in run time.
View 1 RepliesThis for a semi-automated application. Basically the user provides a list of parameters (entered as an offline spreadsheet). The application automatically selects the required report and logon information. Each line in the given spreadsheet will be used as parameter values for a certain report.Therefore the requirements for this (vb.net) applicaton include:
- dynamically select a different Crystal reports
- each report may read data from different tables from an Oracle database.
An old application of mine that had done something similar and it works normally. Those Crystal reports retrieve data from a SQL server stored procedure. (The stored procedure reads data from Oracle using linked server concept). I do not have to set the logon information dynamically in the vb.net code because every report uses Trusted Windows logon concept. The application can also pass dynamic values to different Crystal report parameters without problems.Then I modify this old application for the required new set of Crystal reports. Because these reports access Oracle database via ODBC and not every report reads from the same Oracle schema, it appears I have to write codes to pass ODBC Dataset and its logon information (the users do not want enter it everytime). The application does not run after the change. The report printout shows blank. Although I can accomplish what is needed by modifying each report to use Stored procedure. But this is not prefered and not a simple task because of the number of reports.I have tested each report and it does run normally in interactive mode.I am not sure if I need to write codes to set the datasource for these 'new' Crystal reports. In my test codes I set the reportsource for my CrystalReportViewer object to an non-typed report. Is there anyone who can show me sample codes that
1) achieve odbc logon
2) select a report dynamically for preview/printing
3) pass values to parameter

View 1 RepliesI have created an application using vb.net 2008 and for reports Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 but the problem is, when I run the application in another machine away from developing box, I get the Load report failed notice. I don't have any idea on how I should approach this issue. I tried installing the CRRedist2008_x86 and CRRedist2005_x86 but still the problem won't go away.

I've got a value coming into my Crystal Report. I need to print it in the format:
"*" & myNumber & "*"
I just can't seem to be able to tell it that the number I want is an integer.So I end up with something equivalent to this:
"*" & myNumber & ".00*"
I don't want those decimal values there. I just want an asterisk, the integer value of my number, and another asterisk.How can I get that to happen?

I am trying to convert a VB6 Data Report (.dsr file) to a Crystal Report through the migration process within Visual Studio. I have read articles that reference adding a Data Report to a Project from Visual Studio 2005/2008 and that it will convert the Data Report to a Crystal Report, but I have not been successful in doing so. In VS2008 we have menu Report->Data Sources... which opens "Report Data Sources" from here we can see Project data sources & we can add them into our report by pressing "Add to Report".but in VS2010 RC there is no such thing like this (no Data Sources... option inside Report menu)

I'm having an issue rendering the report viewer (using SSRS 2k5) in the browser.When the report is loaded, I get bombarded with popups that say "Unable to load control". After all the popups, the report eventually load (thank god for firefox's prevent additional popup checkbox), yet none of the buttons work (each button causes the popup).

I have created a project which takes the database dyanamically....
Means when the application starts it will ask for the database path....the database will already be created in some or the other folder....
The path for database is stored in one text file....
It is an access database....
While creating crystal report I had created the report using the database....but that became static...and the report is not able to fetch the records since it is not getting the database
Now I want that while the application runs....a connection should be set up to the dyanamic database path and the report should be viewed....
how shud I create the database connection for crystal report in vb.net
