I am new to XML and ASP.NET. I need to design a application which will use webservice input and output (LDAP webservice not made on asp.net).I need to send username password and other fields in XML string format to webservice methods and get the more details about username in xml string format only.So i need to send xml and get xml string and populate my server controls with xml attributes ,elements,values etc.This includes update and delete also..If I use XMLDocument evry time to read write xml , what can be the best way to store all unique xmlattribute, xmlvalues and xmlelement in a Object which is accessible throughout my website for a specific user and sould persist on all postbacks unless user logouts

For example i got a class and its got its own properties and i am passing the name of the class and the name of the property to be called to a function Say for example exp is the variable which i am passing which contains a value = "ClassA,Property1"

I've build a large program with many references. F.e.:

System.Linq.Dynamic
I've to write a Dynamic Linq Expression: [URL]
In my case: Dim query As IEnumerable = ds.Sales.Where(strWhere)
But with System.Data.DataSetExtensions Where is misinterpreted. The compiler expects (Datarow, Integer, Boolean). If I delete System.Data.DataSetExtensions everything is ok with this expression, but I get many other errors, so I need this reference. What can I do that the Where is interpreted correctly?

trying to write a dynamic sql query that fetches data from oracle 10g database. My Where criteria is giving me real problems but i guess it has to do with the oracle data format. The data column is a TIMESTAMP data type storing values like 25-JAN-09 07.06.01.000000000 AM. Am trying to get rows having the columns matching a specific date( ignoring the time values), my where looks like this

Is there a way to not put the project name in the Inherits attribute?
I am working with vb and I have multiple projects, that have multiple web pages. In each of these projects I create controls that are reused in the web pages.
Each control I have is declared like this:
<%@ Control Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="MenuBarControl.ascx.vb" Inherits="**projectName**.MenuBarControl" TargetSchema="http://schemas.microsoft.com/intellisense/ie5" %>
When I want to copy the control into another project I have to change the **projectName**. Having to change the project name for each project makes the code not reusable. Changes made to specific projects each time is not reusable.
I want to be able to omit the project name in the Inherits attribute. When I do that now I get an error

I've created a new ASP.NET Dynamic Data website and have used LINQ-to-SQL for the framework. I start up the application and it displays my tables fine and I can browse them - but it doesn't give me any create/update/delete abilities - all I can do is read? ALL instances of that control on my page grab the exact same property. I need to be able to set the property to "abc" for one instance of the control on my page, and then set the exact same proprty to "xyz" for a different instance of the control on the same page.

I have users check off lab facilities in a UI. I want to use linq to fetch corresponding records for all of the labs that they have checked off. Basically,

So basically, I need to write a linq query where the "strings" to match are determined at runtime. Is there any way to do this easily? I know that there is a library out there called dynamic LINQ, but (1) it's in C# and I'm writing in VB (2) I'm really just looking for a single, simple solution for this single case.

I have a folder called movies. In this folder is a collection of different movies each in their own folder with their own xml file called movie.xml.I would like to extract lets say the localtitle and aspectratio from each movie xml and send to Excel. I am trying to extend an application to to write the details from textboxes on a invoice form to an xml file.I have created 3 methods for my invoice class which will open the invoice xml document, write to it, and close it.The open Invoice method creates and invoice.xml file and writes a start tag named invoices.
The WriteInvoice method writes an invoice element for the invoice with attribute named customerName and three child elements named ordertotal, discounTotal and Invoice total. These values are taken from the textboxes form the form.
The CloseInvoice writes the end tag for the root element(invoices) and closes the file.
I have wriiten code for these methods but can only get the open invoice method to work.
My code for the 3 methods is shown below:

i'm trying to read from a file and copy the text into a 2d array withought the selected item from a list box then rewrite the file from the array into the text file. however it writes a single part of the array times the variable count when i write back to the csv file. within the array everything is correct its only when i rewrite to the file is when the problems occur.

reading and writing files. Let's say I have a text file with multiple lines that I want to be read into my visual basic program. The first line is displayed in textboxA while the rest of the lines are displayed in textboxB. How do I accomplish this? Am I able to use the peek method for textboxB but somehow tell it to skip the first line? Now textboxB is obviously a multiline textbox and I want the user to be able to type something into another textbox (textboxC), press a button, and it will be displayed in textboxA. How do I make the text in textboxC get displayed on the first line of textboxA and move all the other lines down the list?
