Write A Dynamic Linq Expression - Large Program With Many References

Oct 14, 2011

I've build a large program with many references. F.e.:

System.Data.DataSetExtensions
System.Linq.Dynamic

I've to write a Dynamic Linq Expression: [URL]

In my case: Dim query As IEnumerable = ds.Sales.Where(strWhere)

But with System.Data.DataSetExtensions Where is misinterpreted. The compiler expects (Datarow, Integer, Boolean). If I delete System.Data.DataSetExtensions everything is ok with this expression, but I get many other errors, so I need this reference. What can I do that the Where is interpreted correctly?

Asp.net - The Specified LINQ Expression Contains References To Queries That Are Associated With Different Contexts?

Apr 5, 2011

I know there are similar questions on stackoverflow - and I looked through them and think my issue is somewhat similar, but haven't been able to find a solution by looking at any of these other questions/answers.I'm getting the error when attempting to execute the following code:

Private Sub btnReserve_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnReserve.Click
' Check that the room is still available.
Dim dbCheckOccupants As New pbu_housingEntities
Dim hall As String = CStr(Session("hall"))

[code]....

It is catching an error on this line:

Dim myID As String = GetID.First.id.ToString

As far as I can tell I'm not using multiple contexts?

Large Multidimensial Array - Write A Program To Do Markov Chain But States Are Quite Large

Jun 9, 2011

I want to write a program to do Markov chain, but my states are quite large. First of all I calculate all the transition probabilities and revenues for all states(1381860 total states), and store in a multidimensional array. Public RevArr(0 To 9, 0 To 750, 0 To 282) As Long

After that the iteration of markov chain should use these as inputs to calculate the steady-state probabilities. But when I try to run the main code I got this error.Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.

The following is the declaration of second array I add just another dimension for storing all the iterations, but I get this error. Dim stateprob(IT + 1, 0 To 9, 0 To 750, 0 To 282) As single

.net - Write A Linq To Sql Query To Find Records Where Field Name Can Match One Of Dynamic Number Of Strings?

Mar 21, 2012

I have users check off lab facilities in a UI. I want to use linq to fetch corresponding records for all of the labs that they have checked off. Basically,

Dim myRecs = (From l As EpiData In myDataContext.EPIDatas Where l.facility= _
one of the checked labs

So basically, I need to write a linq query where the "strings" to match are determined at runtime. Is there any way to do this easily? I know that there is a library out there called dynamic LINQ, but (1) it's in C# and I'm writing in VB (2) I'm really just looking for a single, simple solution for this single case.

Dynamic SQL To Dynamic LINQ In .NET With MS SQL Server 2008?

May 24, 2010

I need to represent the following query using LINQ:

DECLARE @PurchasedInventoryItemID Int = 2
DECLARE @PurchasedInventorySectionID Int = 0
DECLARE @PurchasedInventoryItem_PurchasingCategoryID Int = 3
DECLARE @PurchasedInventorySection_PurchasingCategoryID Int = 0

[code]....

Now, I know that a query in .NET doesnt look like this, this is my test in the SQL Design Studio. Naturally VB.NET variables will be used in place of the SQL local variables. My problem is this: All of the conditions after "WHERE" are optional. In that a query might be made that uses one, some, all, or none of the conditions. V.PropertyID and V.Value can also appear any number of times. In VB.NET I can make this query easy enough by simply concatenating strings, and using a loop to append the "V.PropertyID/V.Value" conditions.I can also make a Stored Procedure in MS SQL, which is easy enough. However, I want to accomplish this using LINQ.

.net - Imports And References Required To Use LINQ

Nov 4, 2010

I have never used LINQ before, and I am getting an error in an application that does use it. This is a VB.NET (.NET 2.0) project in Visual Studio 2008.

Here is the offending code:

Dim orderedRows = From r In resultRows Order By r.FIELDNAME Select r

And here is the error (names changed to something generic, but otherwise accurate):

Expression of type '1-dimensional array of
Company.OurLibrary.FunctionalArea.Library.StoredProcStuff.USP_MYPROC.ResultRow'
is not queryable. Make sure you are not missing an assembly
reference and/or namespace import for the LINQ provider.
C:projectfilename.vb

So I recognize that I need to import LINQ libraries. This link led me to add "Imports System.Linq" to the file, but that is an unresolved reference. Based on the same link, I figured I needed to add a reference to "System.Core" to my project, but it is not listed as an available option when I try to add a reference (nor is it already checked).

Building A Dynamic Regular Expression?

Jun 12, 2009

I'm attempting to build a function that will return a regex that is dynamically created. The regex to create will be a range check between two numbers. So far I've got something similar to this (not finished as yet).Is this approach valid, or is there an easier way that I'm overlooking?

Linq - Using Large Arrays In .NET?

Jan 18, 2010

I want to extract large amounts of data from Excel, manipulate it and put it back. I have found the best way to do this is to extract the data from an Excel Range in to a large array, change the contents on the array and write it back to the Excel Range.I am now rewriting the application using VB.NET 2008/2010 and wish to take advantage of any new features.

Currently I have to loop through the contents of the array to find elements with certain values; also sorting large arrays is cumbersome. I am looking to use the new features, including LINQ to manipulate the data in my array.Does anybody have any advice on the easiest ways to filter / query, sort etc. data in a large array. Also what are the reasonable limits to the size of the array?

VS 2008 - Timer - Project A References Project B So Can Open A Large Form In Project B

May 5, 2010

For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
