Basically i have made an application that loads a text file and loads it into a rich text box
now what i want is at a push of a button i want to replace everything from line 3 onwards and between col 56 and col 113 with the same string for each line
At the min i have no code at all underneath this button part from loading the Rich Text Box by another button[code]...
Q1: It seems there are many ways to open a text file, such as FileOpen, StreamReader, My.Computer.FileSystem. ect.. Which one is your most frequent used?
Q2: I would like to edit a few lines of a txt file and then save it. Which one should I use?
Q3: If I want my text file can't be opened by others, how can I encrypt it.

I want to make one program that i people can easy change IP's SQL Password and other stuffs.. but i don't know how to make it to read the corect line from a file .. example ser choose to edit IP He opens the program select IP's Change button, open the form..And to has textbox where he will insert his IP adress and when he click on Change button to change the ip's in files with his ip.

I am using Datagridview to show some table data from database. It is working but its appearance is not what i am looking for. Is there a way to edit columns and rows manually ?

1. First of all i want to change column captions. because they are like "Fld_name" etc.

I have a form that adds new contacts. New contacts are added by pressing an appropriate button and they appear as an entry in the list on the form. I try now to add an edit button that will edit existing entries.User will select a given entry on the list and press edit button and will be presented with an appropriate form (AddContFrm).Right now it simply adds another entry with the same title. how to count the lines in textbox1.text (with multiplelines). I don't need to count each character. I only need to count each line from top to bottom in textbox1.text (multiplelines) and I will use Label1 to display the numbers.
example:

Obviously this is 5 lines and that's what I need to count.

The only thing I can do for now is either use the substring function to remove the first character from all array values after 0 but I don't like that because it's messy and what if the split "works" as I want it to one one of the lines and knocks of the first character when I don't want it to.

Both ExecuteNonQuery() actions yields the exception message {"Syntax error in field definition."}The error message does not happen with the first if the boolean column is not there (I tried Tes/No as a definition - but that also failed.The second query to modify the ID column from autonumber to integer I assume fails because it is a Primary KeyHas?

I have a procedure that sets a datatable variable called dtP equal to prpParametersTable at the beginning of the procedure. I then add three new columns to dtP.Here is my problem. When I add the three new columns to dtP my original table prpParametersTable also gets those columns added to it, why? I only want to add the three columns to dtP and not prpParametersTable. I have Dataset ds filled up with values Until now I was displaying values in GridView. Now I want that all the rows should be columns and columns should be rows.I have 2 options: Either 1 I can directly convert grid to columns and display it, or 2 I can convert the GridView to html and then write loops to convert. View 1 RepliesI have a text file containing lines of data (File 1). I need to delete all the lines in another text file (File 2), which are found in file 1.So I could read file 2 line by line. And then once the line has been read, read file 1 line by line to search for a match. But that's going to be painfully slow.Or I could read file 2 into memory. And then read file 1 line by line and REPLACE the lines in file 2 with nothing, therefore deleting them. File 2 could be 100 mb, so I'm not sure about reading it all into memory.

View 4 Repliesi can't edit my vb files. after having opened visual studio 2008, i open a project with the solution file. i can see, in the solution explorer window, my vb file. but if i double-click the vb file, i have the following error; there is no editor available for form1.vb. make sure the application for the file type (.vb) is installed. i have re-installed visual studio and still got the error. someone knows how to fix this?
