Updating A VFP DBF Via OleDb?
Aug 20, 2010I've been using Visual FoxPro for the past 10 years, and am trying to learn VB.NET, (using VS 2008). I am in the process of re-writing a small VFP app in VB.NET, and am using the VFP DBF tables, (via OleDb). It is a real struggle for me to comprehend all the levels to keep track of and was wondering in anyone knows of some sample code that would point me in the right direction. After I complete this small app re-write, I have others to do that all require the VFP DBF table updates.

Nov 6, 2009I have an application to re-sequence some items based on a an alphabetical ordering of the items from another table. I couldn't create an update statement to update the database when I pulled the information by a join query, So I pulled down both tables into a dataset with an XML Schema description where the two are related by the itm_id key as in the database. I then have two datagrids one with the items and one with the bound to the relationship this allows only the records associated with the itm to be displayed in the datagrid, I then run a loop that changes to sequence number for each corresponding record,this all works fine but then I go to update the back end database.
The update from the dataadapter executes successfully, but then if I reload the dataset from the database back end I find that the update did not actually update the records on the back end. The only record that was updated was the very first record which updated with a 0 then all the others did not take, I have re-run it several times and they will not take.

Get SQL Commands (adding, Updating, Deleting) To Work With A VB 2010 Database?
Feb 12, 2012My project involves making a table database that displays student number, surname, first name, homeroom, and grade avg. Through SQL commands, there must be functions to add, update, delete, search by field, and save records to the database.I have already set the database up just fine and displayed it in a DataGridView. Through the DataGridView, I was able to go to the "Add Query" area, and I successfully made the queries necessary for searching by field. However, when I try to do anything other than a search using the query builder (ie start my SQL command with INSERT INTO or DELETE FROM), I ultimately get the message "Failed to get schema for this query"For example, this SQL code (to add an entry to the database) worked when I was in the Query Builder (and the entry that it made is still in the database), but when I finally tried to confirm it, I got the "Failed to get schema for this query" message.Being unable to add entries to the database this way, I tried to do it with textboxes on a form. Each textbox will have one of the fields, and at the click of a button, they would be put into the table. My code is below. I do not know what is wrong withit. When I run it, my fields do not appear on the DataGridView immediately, but I must run the program again to see it. The time after, the entry is gone. So I am not sure how exactly such entries are to be saved.

VS 2010 OleDB Updating Multiple Records With Calculated Values
May 23, 2012I'm writing a time entry program to record when an employee checks in and when they check out.I'm struggling on the part where I need to calculate a time span (time out / time in). I am selecting the In Time, Out Time, and Total columns.I want it to take the Out Time subtract it from the In Time and place that value in the Total column.I have so far and have tried several variations of different updates but have had no luck.[code]I keep getting a syntax error in the UPDATE statment.I'm not very fluent with OleDB yet and I'm not sure if I'm doing the update correctly.I have no problem with OleDB and single UPDATES or single field updates but when I am updating multiple rows with different values.

Oledb Adapter To Access MS Access?
Mar 14, 2008I have recently developed a small program which SQL's a MS Access database on a shared folder. I published it to the network folder and many users have installed it fine, but I have had two users who have reported the following error:Could not load file or assembly 'System. EnterpriseServices. Wrapper.dll' or one of its dependencies. The device is not ready. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070015)So I went to google and searched on how to get rid of this error and it seems that there are alot of sites to suggest re-installing the .Net 2.0 framework. So i tried to click repair the installation but then hit on another problem:Error 25015. failed to install assembly. 'C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NetFrameworkSystem.EnterpriseServices.dll because of system error: The device is not ready..So i did more googling and found that it might be due to a HaxDoor virus: url...I am now scanning the system now, but it hasn't picked up any virus yet.What should i do? OLEDB To Access 2003 DB - Record Not Inserting?
Mar 29, 2010I am creating some basic software for our manufacturing department. I am using Visual Studio 2008 using Visual Basic.The software has a user log in. There is a form in which the choose the worker name, the item they were making, how many were made, damaged, or received damaged from the supplierHowever when they click on the "Update" button to insert the record..i get my custom message that it failed and the record is not inserted. I put a TRY...Catch... around the insert query and it didn't generate an error message.I have been following the code in the OLEDB BASICS tutorial so I am not sure what the problem is at this time.

Sql - Syntax Error When Insert To Access Using OleDb?

However when I insert it , there's a exception raised stating that I have invalid syntax for the "insert into" query. I could not spot the error.

Aug 19, 2010I have a program (below) which runs an SQL query on an Access database to bring back records based on the date a user selects. This issue seems to be that US date formats are the only date formats that SQL queries accept. I may be wrong, but this is my understanding. All my dates in the database are in EU date format (dd/mm/yyyy). What happens when i run my code is that I can not access a record with the date of 08/05/2010 unless the input date is 05/08/2010.

I have created an auto emailer to distribute our work routes for my colleagues. Problem is I made it easy for the management team to update the list. List is ordered by Tech Number, First name, Last name, Email address.
I have coded this in VB.NET 2008 using Database sources and drag-n-drop the table on the form. I let VB do most of the coding of the connection and text boxes. (IE If (Tech_TextBox.Text <> "9999") Then)What I would like to do, instead of using a bogus tech number as an exit. I need an 'IF Then" or 'DO UNTIL' after last record.

Make An Oledb Connection To An Access Database : Invalid Authorization Specification
Sep 15, 2007I am trying to make an oledb connection to an Access database.
1. I added a component class.It said drag from the toolbox to add components.
2. I dragged over the Oledbconnection and OledbdataAdapter
3. I clicked on new connection string for the oldeb Connection and try to connect to the SHX.mdb datababase in the debug/ bin folder I don't have a username or password for the database and do not want to set one up.( is this possible in .net?)
4.As soon as I try to test the connection, I get the "invalid authorization specification" message. I can't get past this and do not really understand why I am getting this message.I have vb 2005 standard edition, not express edition.The exact same thing happens when I try to set up the data adapter to the shx.mdb database.
I am on XP2 and not logged in with a password or username. Could this be the issue or is there something else I am overlooking.Also, since I am coming from vb6 and ADO is there anyway to just write the code without having to use datasets, adapters and oledb connections to bound controls?
