I am making a program that can send emails by the click of a button. But the problem is that it takes a long time to send the email.When the send button is pressed it declares the smtp server, credentials and everything. But I am wondering if there is a way to have the smtp server, credentials, port and everything already declared and then as soon as the send button is clicked it sends right away?
EDIT: I am going to try declaring that information at form1_load.
EDIT: It didn't work, even when I tried changing private form1_load to public form1_load .
Imports System.Net.Mail
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)

I am trying to make a program that sends emails. But I came across some errors. Note: All the errors except for the last one are from the EmailSenderForm, with the last one being from the LoginForm1.Here is my form coding:
LoginForm1 Codes:

' TODO: Insert code to perform custom authentication using the provided username and password
' (See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=35339).

and for the option window

I made a email sender, and the problem I'm having is that the others can see who else I sent it to. Which I do not want to happen. I want them to see only their email and that's all. No one elses.
View 7 RepliesI have made a email sender already, but I would like to know how to make it so that it sends multiple emails instead of just 1. Like on the list of textbox so that the email sender reads 1 string and just goes down the list. Instead of reading the whole list and confusing it for 1 email.

how I would make a progress bar work with a email sender.
This email sender is made to send massive amounts of emails at once, and I would like the progress bar to show what % of it is done. The list of emails to send the message to is on a Textbox.
The button to send is Button3, and the Textbox with the emails is Textbox1.
if people wanted to sign up for a email sender they can enter there email into my form i created with VB and it would send that info to my email... well it turns out that they could get my password and i then got my email password hacked... how is this possible is it because i did not encrypt my form and they decrypted my form to get my email and password info? please tell me how this is done so i can be safer next time

(me = an absolute beginner in WPF / VB2010) how to get the type of sender in (ByVal sender As Object)? Purpose: when two different Objects call the same subroutine, find out which one actually called it.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
sayHello(sender)
End Sub

I'm creating a multipurpose chat application for my final year project. The control for typing in messages is a RichTextBox. The rich text (with all formatting) successfully reaches the other side. However, like any chat client, I'm also displaying a complete list of all the previous conversations above the RTB. I've used it as a RTB too. However, I'm unable to separate the incoming message by a new line... I mean like.. each message (with all formatting) on a new line. This is my code on the receiver side :

where, ServBox is my conversation box. I also tried changing ServBox to a List Box but the listbox doesn't seem to interpret formatted text....
I am tring to get the receivers' e-mail address from a Ms access (mdb) database but I am failing. I had another thread but it started to get longer and I decided to open another one. Let's make a summary. Below is my VB code;

Imports System.IO
Imports System.Net

I would like to know how can I transfer some data bits from one location e.g. Location X to the location Y. I am already moving MS (mobile station which I take as an image) from one location to other. Now I want to check or you can say add some data while MS is moving and make it reach successfully to location Y as I already can do with MS movement, mean to say data transmission along with MS and on that basis I want to find handover failure rate and if any data loss during the data transmission from x to y location. And check if the data delivered is successfully reached to location Y from Location X, check bits transmitted and bits received
View 2 RepliesWhen I write public events for my business objects, I've adapted the habit of always passing the instance as "sender as Object", in addition to additional specific parameters. I just asked myself now why am I not specifying the class?
So for you with more experience; Do you ever pass the distinct class as sender in an event? And if so, what are your decision criteria for when this is ok/not ok?
I am in the process of designing a computer control program to control a HF communications receiver (radio), and have found a problem with the Serial port. I am using VB Express Edition 2008. This module of the program is supposed to take an input string from another part of the program, format it, break it into 4 bytes, and send it to the radio in hex form via COM port 1. The problem comes in when you try to enter a frequency with an 8 or a 9 in it. The 8 or 9 is usually replaced by 45, ex.-input 9900, receiver tune 4545. The exact same thing happens with 8's, input 8800 and receiver tune 4545. All other numbers other than 8 or 9 work fine. The strange part of it is that sometimes the 8's and 9's work, and work correctly. For instance, 900, 1900, 2900, 3900, 4900, 5900, 6900, and 7900 all work correctly. This led me to believe that is may only be when the 8 or 9 is in the first position, but that is not the case, it also shows up in other positions as well. All other frequencies that do not have 8 or 9 in them also work. I ran into this same problem with VB Express 2005, and worked on it for weeks before giving up and going back to VB6.0. This same module (with exception of the port open command) runs flawlessly under VB6. I have even tried importing the MSCOMM control from VB6, but it gives the same results. In de-bugging mode, all of the inputs, decimal and hex seem to be correct, so the problem must come in after you click the command button, but before it leaves the COM port.

I'm new to VB .NET. I would like to design a sms sender application which could use internet connectivity to send messages to any mobile number. Should I use any messaging APIs? Where should I start?
View 1 RepliesIs there a fast way to get the name of a panel that the "sender" is in without looping through controls & comparing? I haven't worked with panels much.
View 3 RepliesLike the title. Any way to let the "sub" know which "control" call it? Like when the "button1" pressed, "button1" call a sub named "buttondown". How can the "buttondown" know which button call it?
View 14 RepliesWe have a server that I use to blast out emails. The reverse IP for it is intellicomweb.com. One of the programs my client uses to send mail uses the from address and it's a gmail address. I'm getting bounced from this one company and they have told me they are bouncing it because my sender enveloper is not a intellicomweb.com address. Here's what I have for sending the mail code. What do I need to do to set the sender enveloper?

I am sending an email with an attachment using the following Code
Dim msg As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage(req.EmailFrom, req.EmailTo)
Dim att As New System.Net.Mail.Attachment("C:Documents and SettingsmichaelrDesktop1216259.pdf")
With msg
.Attachments.Add(att)
[code]....
The file size of the attachment is 396KB, upon the recipient receiving the email outlook shows the file size as 543Kb. Strange thing is if I send an email with the same attachment using outlook the file size is 396Kb.I understand that file sizes can increase due to the attachment being base 64 encoded as opposed to just raw binary.What I am failing to see is why outlook send a file which is 396KB in size but in code when sending it, the same file is 543Kb.
how would i implement a way that i would not hard code the email message that the application send to email recipients? how will i also include email message formatting (text in bold, italic, etc.)?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to get my program to send very simple text email messages. I did do a search beforehand, and found that I was having the same issue as someone else, but the specific question I have was not answered --
I've learned that if you're trying to send mail, you need an SMTP server... I found this list here but every one of them I've tried yields the same "Failure sending mail" error.
Here's my
Dim mail As New MailMessage()
mail.From = New MailAddress("me@mycompany.com")
mail.To.Add("destination-email@whatever.com")
[CODE]...
Is the problem that I need to show "credentials" (i.e. user/pass)? If so, what would those credentials be? Can I use my yahoo email SMTP server with my login info to do it? And is this all I'd need to add to add the credentials?
smtp.Credentials = New NetworkCredential("MyUsername", "MyPassword")
(before the smtp.Send, of course)
A client for our company contains an apostrophe in their email name joe's@joe.com. I was advised that this is the correct and current email for the given client. Below is the Expression string I am using with Regex (which I copied from the internet somewhere) to validate email addresses. How can this expression be modified to allow/accept apostrohe's?
strRegex =
"^([a-zA-Z0-9_-.]+)@(([[0-9]{1,3}.[0-9]{1,3}.[0-9]{1,3}.)|(([a-zA-Z0-9-]+.)+))([a-zA-Z]{2,4}|[0-9]{1,3})(]?)$"
I have to make a basic program that: Create a program with a simple interface that
1. Asks the user type his/her email address into a textbox.
2. When the user clicks the "Evaluate Email Address" button, one of two message boxes pops up: "That is a valid email address!" with an "Information" icon, or "That is an invalid email address!" and on a second line, "Please retype your email address.", with an "Exclamation" icon
3. To be considered valid, the email address must -include an "@" symbol, and -it must end in either ".com", ".net", or ".org" or ".edu" (I don't know how to check a string and test if its last four characters end with any of these and make it say not valid email address. I think I might have to use a case statement)
I'm using the Chilkat add-on to read email from a pop3 server. I can download the headers fine but the headers all download into one column.How can I get my email to put the headers in the appropriate columns?
'Display the From email address and the subject.
ListView2.Items.Add(email.From)
ListView2.Refresh()
ListView2.Items.Add(email.EmailDate)
ListView2.Refresh()
[Code]...
What I am trying to do is to download the "From" person into the "From" columns and the "Date" of the email into the date column, so on and so forth but I'm not able to get them to go into their separate columns.
