Jun 23, 2009I am making a program that can send emails by the click of a button. But the problem is that it takes a long time to send the email.When the send button is pressed it declares the smtp server, credentials and everything. But I am wondering if there is a way to have the smtp server, credentials, port and everything already declared and then as soon as the send button is clicked it sends right away?
EDIT: I am going to try declaring that information at form1_load.
EDIT: It didn't work, even when I tried changing private form1_load to public form1_load .

Apr 25, 2009I was wondering if any one can show me how would i make and login email sender...SO like ima have 2 forms the first one is gonna be the login form and the second one will be the email client sender +it will be the login to the email client and i would login to the form with a gmail email in textbox1 and in textbox1 with the password of the gmail account and button1 will show form2..So bascily i want to have a login for my email sender that usees gamil stmp..but i dont no how i would make the login form to get the info to form2 to sens the email..so like instead of puting 1 gmail email in my email sender.... i can have any gmail account to send emails.

Dec 13, 2009if people wanted to sign up for a email sender they can enter there email into my form i created with VB and it would send that info to my email... well it turns out that they could get my password and i then got my email password hacked... how is this possible is it because i did not encrypt my form and they decrypted my form to get my email and password info? please tell me how this is done so i can be safer next time

The email address is not required, I only want to check for a valid email address when a value or address has been entered into the e-mail filed. Example: If e-mail is not empty or if email field has a value, then check for the follow elements, matched the email address with the required format. If the e-mail field is empty, do not look for anything, move on.

Jun 30, 2009Does anyone know of a way to script falsifying the amount of RAM installed on a PC for an install. I have a program that needs to be installed on many systems that all have little RAM. The program requires during the setup that at least 384 MB of RAM be installed. Some of these systems only have 256 so the install fails. I know the easy answer is install more RAM. Ain't going to happen. Company has no budget. The install should be fine I think, but would like to test more. in order to do the testing to see if this would even work though I need to figure out how to have the OS tell the app it has more RAM than it does. I don't know this app but my first guess is the app queries WMI for amount of RAM?? If that's the case is there a way to set that WMI entry to something different until after the app is done? Or if someone knows another way that would be good too?

Fake Compile Errors / Rebuild Program
Jul 26, 2010Anyone ever get fake compile errors and rebuild the program and then they go away? Well mine aren't going away and I can compile and run no problem. I've got something like 100 compile errors and the "run with error's" warning doesn't appear at any time and when I do run my program it runs just the way it should. However I still see like 100 errors.

So for you with more experience; Do you ever pass the distinct class as sender in an event? And if so, what are your decision criteria for when this is ok/not ok?

Aug 27, 2009I'm trying to create a fake virus for a collegue who keeps changing our desktop backgrounds. I have created a form in vb 2008. It as a window security icon and coule text boxs saying virus has been found, it has 3 buttons (Repair), (Quarantine) & (Ignore) and a progress bar on the form. I have put a timer event on the form too. My question is: How can i get the progress bar to pause at 50% and say files cannot be repaired, once ok is clicked on the pop up msgbox asking to Quarantine items, pause again on say 85% and msgbox say Cannot be repaired, try restart and run anti virus software.
