Create A Fake Virus For A Collegue Keeps Changing Our Desktop Backgrounds?

Aug 27, 2009

I'm trying to create a fake virus for a collegue who keeps changing our desktop backgrounds. I have created a form in vb 2008. It as a window security icon and coule text boxs saying virus has been found, it has 3 buttons (Repair), (Quarantine) & (Ignore) and a progress bar on the form. I have put a timer event on the form too. My question is: How can i get the progress bar to pause at 50% and say files cannot be repaired, once ok is clicked on the pop up msgbox asking to Quarantine items, pause again on say 85% and msgbox say Cannot be repaired, try restart and run anti virus software.

App - Changing Desktop Wallpaper ?

Aug 25, 2011

I am having in VB.NET 2010. I am writing an app to change the background wallpaper kinda a little project I am making for my wife's grandma. It is a multiple wallpaper changer to change the wallpaper based on a list of images she adds. Anyways! I have everything setup except the fact that it doesn't change the wallpaper...

This code here:

Public Declare Auto Function SystemParametersInfo Lib "user32.dll" (ByVal uAction As Integer, _
ByVal uParam As Integer, _
ByVal lpvParam As String, _

[CODE]...

Will NOT change the wallpaper but the same code works in VB6 I tried it because I have made something like it before in VB6 but it was a game that changed the wallpaper. Anyways, using the above code in VB6 works(well with a change to the SystemParametersInfo declare to work within VB6. But it doesn't work in VB.NET. I have NO IDEA why everything gets set in the registry just fine from VB.NET but I just cannot seem to get it to update the wallpaper...

Create A Fake Array Using Generics Instead Of Using An Array

Jun 23, 2012

This was an experiment to see if I could create a fake array using generics instead of using an array. I decided to try it, because I may use it if I find any advantages to using it over an array. it works, I am just asking for a second or third opinion, have I screwed anything up, or is there an easier way to accomplish this? If I use it, it will be for a 2D game I am creating, and is used to draw the 2D screen graphics, placing an image based on what image identifier is located at what coordinates. The value stored in the fake array is an integer that disignates the graphic to draw and whether it is passible or not, i.e. 0 = a floor image, 501 = a wall image that is impassible (any image number > 500 is impassable) The Class definition:

PictureBox's Don't Support Transparent Backgrounds

From my understanding PictureBox's don't support transparent backgrounds. What I am trying to do is just have a single picture that needs a transparent background just to be on display with my form. So how do I do this?

Transparent Label And Moving Backgrounds

Jul 8, 2009

I am using a picture box to load an animated gif as a background on top of my form (same size as the form). On top of that I have a standard label with some text. I have made the label background transparent but it doesn't display correctly with the animated picturebox behind it. The label background is transparent but it doesn't draw the animation correctly under it. It almost looks like it is drawing it at a few frames behind. Now, I know I can draw the text on the animated picturebox by hand (I have done that before) but I am not sure it is possible this time because the labels are part of custom controls.

Visual Studio And Alpha Backgrounds?

Seen this question asked a lot but can't seem to find an answer. So here it is. Can you use a PNG with an alpha channel as the background image for a VB app? I don't care about changing the shape of the app rectangle is fine. They just want to use a character with a drop shadow behind him as the background for the app.

How To Create A 'Desktop Shortcut'

Aug 2, 2011

I will put it onto my website, so the public can download it (the Web Browser).*It will be an exe (Executable File).My short cut ( on the desk top) will*be a picture*ICON .ico file, which is a logo I created.I imagine it will be*stored*in the C Drive of most computers, in the Program Files. PATH: C:Program ilesHomeChannelTVHomeChannelTV.exe *I've tried to learn from many forums. The code I have created is below. I'm getting 1 error.

MyShortcut = CType(WshShell.CreateShortcut(DesktopFolder & ".lnk"), IWshRuntimeLibrary.IWshShortcut)
MyShortcut.TargetPath = Application.StartupPath & "C:Program

Custom Backgrounds On Panel Resizable With Form

Jun 11, 2012

I need to have a custom background on a panel that can be resized with the form and want to know how I should go about designing it. Maybe have three images the left side, right side and the middle is just replicated? The thing is I would like for it to have a border and there will be buttons attached to the top edge so simply stretching a static picture may make the buttons not line up properly.

Create A File On The User's Desktop

Mar 4, 2011

As part of a program for class we were instructed to create a text file on the user's computer. The instructions were to create the file to the C: (or the same drive as the Windows directory) but Windows7 requires Admin privileges to write to this directory. It works great if I run Visual Studio as admin, but I'd rather just write to an unrestricted area. For example the desktop. Is there a way to write directly to the user's desktop without knowing the user's username. Right now I'm using this "c:UsersNickDesktopScores.txt"; which works but of course the user's name is different on every machine. How would I go about specifying the user's desktop?

How To Fake Amount Of Ram Installed

Jun 30, 2009

Does anyone know of a way to script falsifying the amount of RAM installed on a PC for an install. I have a program that needs to be installed on many systems that all have little RAM. The program requires during the setup that at least 384 MB of RAM be installed. Some of these systems only have 256 so the install fails. I know the easy answer is install more RAM. Ain't going to happen. Company has no budget. The install should be fine I think, but would like to test more. in order to do the testing to see if this would even work though I need to figure out how to have the OS tell the app it has more RAM than it does. I don't know this app but my first guess is the app queries WMI for amount of RAM?? If that's the case is there a way to set that WMI entry to something different until after the app is done? Or if someone knows another way that would be good too?
