I am getting two errors for "expression is not an array or method, and cannot have an argument list," When debugging, the formula works quite well. However I will lose points for blue squiggly lines. I am not allowed to use any built in functions like math.
IM doing an assignment for college. ITs saving records to a file, and getting them back basically. So really not that hard.
The error is occuring around the following line of
[Code]...
basically all I've been doing so far, is formatting the output fields to show dates correctly. And I believe I'm getting this error. There is data in the form becasue i wrote it there to test it.I think im saving this right, but it seems ODD that its not working for me.
I have been working on this project all night and think that sleep deprivation is preventing me from figuring this out. I have a base class from which 5 derived classes are under. I am getting an error in the HourlyWorker class that I just can't seem to get past. The error I am getting on the 2 highlighted in RED "wage": Expression is not an array or a method, and connot have an arguement list
I checked the MSDN and it says to correct the error to remove the arguements list. This is confussing because I need it to validate wage > 0
GenerateTheList is function.Need help Private Sub buttGenerate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles buttGenerate.Click Dim thread1 As New Thread(New ThreadStart(GenerateTheList)) thread1.Start() End Sub
Consider a MyForm class that contains a shadowed implementation of Show(). It also contains a CreateForm() method, which accepts an instance of the form and calls the shadowed sub:
Ok so I have alot of plans for programs coming up and I want them all to fade in and out so instead of copy and pasting from project to project etc I learnt about dll's
So when I added in the references etc and I typed in what I declared the Fadein function as which was "FadeIn" I got an error saying it needed to be declared
So I declared it as a string Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim FadeIn As String FadeIn(Me) End Sub
Then I get a different error saying Expression is not a method.
im migrating from vb6 to vb.net and have only very basic knowledge of .net. now i upgraded one of my projects, in which i had function cleartexts() which would clear all the text boxes of the forms. now to upgrade it to .net i converted it to sub (as it didnt return anything), so it looked like,
public sub cleartexts() for i = 1 to 24 text(i).text="" next end sub
but .net 2005 gives the error, "expression is not a method", how do i call it then?? or what modifications do i need to make?
These are the directions for the assignment. So far I am able to get the file read and printed onto a list box.The book we have for the class does not clearly talk about using the array of structure method with formatting an imported text file. After that I'm pretty much having a bit of trouble with everything else.I know I can figure most of it out but what I'm having a big amount of trouble with is the array of structures that he wants.I know that when I have the file imported that I need to save it temporarily and go through it and at every ":" put it in an array and save that spot and then keep scanning through the file. I know it is going to be a for loop using the index to count through but I'm not sure if how to start it.This is how the text file that he wants sorted out looks.
I'm trying to code a class of RandomNumber. One of the class methods needs to populate a "List (Of RandomNumber)" ... which was passed as a parameter to the method ... with 10 random numbers between 1 and 50. DEAD SIMPLE :)
I just have a short question about adding an destination methode as variable argument into my calling methode.
I want to send a "TextChanged" event to a special textbox. But I want to have a "variable" in my methode to add the handler to the textbox. Because it is possible to change the textbox and then I can change the handler where the "Changed Events" should be routed to.
can you replace the questionmarks below??
Dim TextBox1 as TextBox Dim TextBox2 as TextBox Private Sub DoIt
I work with C# 99% of the time. However, I'm having to update some legacy VB.Net code and encountering an issue with VB.Net code syntax. The error that I get is "ByRef" is underlined and "Expected Expression" tag shows up when you hover over "ByRef". The "FooDetail.Load" function is written in C# and expects a List object passed as reference. Don't have any trouble using the same function in other C# classes. Can someone indicate what is wrong with below VB.Net code.
Dim FooDetail As New clsFooDetail() FooDetail.FooID = FooID Dim lstFooDetail As New List(Of clsFooDetail) FooDetail.Load(ConnectionString, "Stored Procedure", ByRef lstFooDetail as System.Collection.List(Of(clsFooDetail))
I have a class and method exposed to a client asp.net app. The class looks like
<DataContract()> _ Public Class Class1 Private v_string As String Private v_integer As Integer
[code]....
The method is declared as
<OperationContract()> _ Function GetStuff(ByVal bar As Class1) As String
In the client code I create an instance of Class1 and set the values for v_string and v_integer, but using Wireshark to look at the xml being sent to the server only a value for v_string is being sent as part of Class1. I'm guessing this is because it considers the value of v_integer to be null/not set. Here is an example of the client code.
Dim MyService as New Service1.ServiceClient Dim test as New Service1.Class1 test.P_integer = 1
[code]....
how different types are passed/used since Integer is a intergral type and String is a class, but can't seem to work out what to do to fix the problem.
I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist. When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible. When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement. When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?
The code below is used to check if the application setting, an arraylist is populated or not via the count method.
When running the program fails with error "NullReferenceException was unhandled" as initially the setting (arraylist) will contain no values. In similar circumstances I would declare a new instance of the object or set value to string.empty or check if DBNull.
I know application settings have a save method but to reference/load them one is not needed.I also left the value field in the projects -> settings to be empty.[code]...
Does the following work in VB 2008 for passing an array to a function: Public Function functionname(ByVal array1() As Short, ByVal array2() as Short) As Short Also, can ByRef be used in place of ByVal?
When I try to do the same in .net the "array argument" value of the second sub is either Nothing or I get an error saying "Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to'System.Array'."I've tried converting the array to a system.array but it will not hold all the Types of data it needs to hold. (I tried 3 days ago and don't remember what Types would cause an error. My 1st value is a string and the second is an integer and this caused some error.)
