Excel 2007 Activex Control Caption Size Expands?
Apr 15, 2009
I have an activex command button located within a worksheet. After pressing the button a couple of times to run VBA Code, the caption size uncontrollably expands larger than the size of the control. I have to go back into the design mode to adjust the size of the button to fix.

I recently upgraded to Excel 2010 from 2007. My ActiveX files will not work. I used to use:
Dim xlApp As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application
Dim xlBook As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook
Dim xlSheet As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet
That does not work and most of the choices do not contain: Application, Workbook and Worksheet.

I have read some of the other posts on this and seem to be a little different than my situation. Trying to print out some reports into an excel document on the clients machine - of course it works fine on my local (heard that before right). I went in and set my references Ms.Office.Core and Ms.Office.Interop.Excel to 'Copy Local' = True so the .dll are in the servers bin folder.

I have a VB.NET application that uses the AXWindowMediaPlayer ActiveX to embed mpg videos to my application. I have used the Play/pause/stop Ctlcontrols a lot but now i am stuck as i needed to change the video size of the playing video from 100 to 200% hence my Questions:- How can i by code change the video size of the video being played? by Video size i do not mean the control's size.. but the Video being played inside it. for example, i could want the videos to play at 200% and not at 100%.- Is there a way to check the dimensions of the video being played so that i can by code change the video size if required as per the video.

I am trying to read excel data (Excel 2007 SP1, on Windows XP SP3) with visual basic .net 2008 (VB 9.0 SP1). I have tried several attempts and whatever I do I am getting the following error message: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException was unhandled ErrorCode=-2147319784 Message="Altes Format oder ungültige Typbibliothek. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80028018 (TYPE_E_INVDATAREAD))" Source="Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" Message="Altes Format oder ungültige Typbibliothek." Translated: Old format or unknown type libraryI have added the reference "Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library" to my project. I am assuming that I might have to add a different or an additional reference, but I do not have any clue which one to use. List of things I have already done:- Searched other forums- Altered the language settings- Tried it on an other Computer (Win XP SP3, Excel 2007, Visual Basic 2008 Express)- Ran the diagnostics tool in Excel - Updated all updates etc...- Reinstalled Visual BasicI really do not have any clue why it should not work?

After installing it on another machine it shows it cannot create activex. Does excel need to be installed on the machine? Or is this another type of error?

I have recently moved from developing in vb.NET 2008 to vb.NET 2010. There is a form in the application that uses an old Ascend Gradient Caption control to visually separate sections of the form. These controls are located on a tab control. The problem isthat the gradient captions seem to be unstable. They appear in odd locations on the tab pages at runtime, and I can't seem to select them in the designer. I can choose them from the combo box on the property page and edit the properties, but they stillbehave erratically. I understand that these are older controls and was wondering if anyone has had this problem and/or could recommend an alternative control

I have wondered the solution to this question for many years! I doubt if anyone else knows much about it because the internet is absolutely zero help in this!
I have made a form1 with a webbrowser control on it. When the program is run it brings up the homepage (which is Google). However the homepage doesn't seem to fit inside the webbrowser control.
So I am hoping that someone could tell me how to make the (...I dunno how to ask this retarded question...) webpage fit completely (100%) inside the size of the webbrowser control. Meaning...I would like to see the entire webpage from the internet in the
size of the webbrowser control. To fill the entire size (whatever size I want).
Etc... if my webbrowser ontrol is seh, set to 600px by 400px, how can I program this so when it brings up the homepage (or any other page), it fills the entire size of the webbrowser control? Without any scrollbars. How to make the contents from the web
(or local) fill the size of the webbrowser - almost like a mini browser if you will.

I created an ActiveX Control in ATL, which I can succesfully use in for instance Internet Explorer. When I want to put that object in a VB.NET (2003) app, I get some problems.
First I 'Import' the control, using Visual Studio, so there are COM Interop DLLs created. Then I insert the control in the toolbox and drag/drop on a form. The control is succesfully created.
However, when I run the VBApp, it crashes. The debugger tells me that it gets a 'Class Not Registered' error.
Same when I create a pushbutton and create the object manually:
Code:
Dim AxQuest3DCtrl As Object
AxQuest3DCtrl = CreateObject("MyControl.MyCtrl.1") //crashes here
If AxQuest3DCtrl Is Nothing Then

Working on getting a legacy app up and running again for work. I'm getting an error at run time that I can't create an activeX control. The suspect call is
oSQL = CreateObject("SQLDMO.SQLServer2")
I did a bit of googling and found that SQLDMO should be in a SQLDMO.dll. I've got that DLL referenced in my project but it is still failing.

I have a legacy VB6 ActiveX control used in IE to provide control of a parallel-port device from a browser application. I wrote this thing about five years ago; It's a pretty simple control, and it doesn't require a lot of maintenance. However, I've noticed that running the VB6 tools is becoming more and more painful over time, so I'm looking at the possibility of migrating this code to VB.net 2008.This thing is super-simple. It implements IObjectSafety and exposes a single public method, which we call using Javascript. The control has no UI other than a single box with a caption that displays its name and version number-- useful for troubleshooting deployment issues.
How would I create the equivalent in .net? Am I creating an applet? Or a .net Assembly? Any gotchas to look for as I try to make this transition?(I should make it clear here that I'm not either a VB6 programmer or a .net developer-- I've dabbled in this stuff but it isn't my area of expertise, so go easy on me).

I am using the WebBrowser control in Rockwell Automation's Factory Talk SE v. 6.0 to display a PDF file. Within the "Display_AnimationStart" routine, I call the function below to send a ctrl+h to the system to hide the toolbars, which has proven to be quite unreliable.
Is there a more direct, object-specific way to hide the browser's toolbars other than the SendKeys method?
Private Sub LoadPDF(Filepath As String)
SendKeys "^h", True
Me.WebBrowser1.Navigate2 (Filepath)

I have the need to embed what I want to call an ActiveX component into a webpage on my intranet. The reason I want to do this is, I'd like to check if a USB security token is inserted on the end users PC.
My question is: what do I need to be researching to accomplish creating a control which can be embedded into Internet Explorer when programming in VB.NET?
