View 3 Repliesmethod to export a resource (an .accdb file) at runtime ?I've had success in exporting image files by using :-
My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllBytes("filepath", My.Resources.filename, False)
Unfortunately this method dosen't enable the export of the file type I need. For various reasons the file must be exported at runtime?
I'm using Visual Studio just to create GUIs for a project. There is no code, only the designs.
I need to convert these forms into images that I can paste into the report.
I'm developing a standalone application. The purpose of it is to have no installation necessary. I'm trying to keep it as small as possible, and everything contained in the actual program, so that the user can let it sit right on their desktop. I wanted to make it possible to generate an image, preferably something transparent (.png, .gif) of a certain dimension, and export it to a certain folder. I've explored Bitmap library, but I've yet to come up with a successful solution. I'd be very obliged if someone could point me in the correct direction. Here's my current code:
Dim myPNG = New System.Drawing.Bitmap(fileName:="logo.png")
myPNG.SetResolution(xDpi:=100, yDpi:=20)
myPNG.MakeTransparent() 'creates transparency
myPNG.Save("C:logo.png")
i have program that must connect to a database at startup, i want the program to first check if the database exists (incase the user deleted it by mistake). If it doesnt exist the program must copy one which i have as a resource, to a certain folder. I have run into a minor problem though.. How do i copy the file from resources to the folder because, the IO.File.Copy() method only allows me to put the file path.

View 2 RepliesI have ashort (1.3MB) video clip set up with the Build Actiontent, and Copy to Output Directory as Copy Always.I am displaying the clip using mciSendString calls, which is working fine.However, I have been asked to change the delivery method so that the video file needs the Build Action to be set to EmbeddedResource and Copy to Output Directory as Do Not Copy , so I need to find a way to write the file to disc on demand so I can play it, then delete it when the form closes.
View 2 RepliesI want to export data into datagridview to excel, but i want to load office library in runtime: i have wrote an application that use office com library and export correctly all datagridview data to excel, but now, i want to use office in runtime, so i don't want to have a reference project of excel library.

View 2 RepliesI use WPF and my program has images in a DLL resource file. I have this well working way to read in images from disk:
Private Function GetImageFromFile(ByVal fileName As String) As BitmapImage
Dim buffer As Byte() = IO.File.ReadAllBytes(fileName)
Dim memoryStream As New IO.MemoryStream(buffer)
[Code]....
Now, how can I get images in this MemoryStream-way from a DLL resource?
The basic problem: If I use simply the "bitmap.UriSource = whatever uri" way and load many images in sequence like an animation it builds up the memory. I tried with the above memorystream way and it worked perfectly fine, but then I store my images in a dll and I don't know how to do this trick. If anybody knows how to read many images from a managed dll without building up the memory
I want to get image from resource file at run time and want to set it to the control.[code]...

I can view the PNG images in softwares like Resource Hacker, Anolis Resourcer & Resource Tuner. Check this screenshot of Anolis Resourcer for more details:
how do I get the PNG image no. 5220 from the DLL file and put it inside a PictureBox? I don't think APIs like LoadImage or LoadBitmap will work.
I cannot seem to get my image resources to load into PictureBox1.I can see all the images I added as resources in the solution explorer.They are a series of PNG files with names associated with countries.I am at the beginning stages of randomly changing the image that is displayed in PictureBox1, but I cannot even get the first image to load.Here is my code so far. When I click on Button2 I can see that my array returns a random country, but no image loads.I even tried typing in several of the countries names as well as the country name followed by png (e.g. chine.png) and again no image loads.

Dim randomObject As New Random()
Dim Flags() As String = {"australia", "brazil", "china", "italy", "russia", "south africa", "spain"}[code]......
I am trying to retrieve an image from an Embedded resource, and displaying it in its RAW DATA format (ie-> junk text data).Basically, I am running into a wall with everything I attempt.

View 1 RepliesI have completed my vb project and have created the set up files as well.. Now when I try to install my program on another machine then it gives me an error. I found out the problem and it seems to be two of the images are not loading even though i have saved them in my application folder.. But when i save them in the resource folder the program runs but does not displays the images stored in the resource folder.

View 1 RepliesI have iTextSharp creating a pdf for me in VB.net. Everything was working famously, except now I want to embed an image. I tried this:
Dim test = My.Resources.MyImage
Dim logo = Image.GetInstance(test)
This an error though:
'GetInstance' cannot be called with these arguments
It appears as though it expects a path, and is getting a System.Drawing.Bitmap type.
Is there any way that I can add a project resource image to my PDF?
First of all Im new to vb 2010 and so far have enjoyed what I have been able to do with it. That being said I have run into an issue with my current project.
Basically I have created a timer and all works well on that part. My issue lies in that my timer loads a .png for each minute/second and I was linking the images like so[code]...
I added to images (.png) to my resource folder. When I am coding, only the first image is showing in the intellisense.
Example:
PictureBox1.Image = My.Resource.Picture1
I cannot get it to show me: My.Resources.Picture2 even though picture2 is in the resource folder.
I want to select a random image from my resource folder and show the image in a picture box.
