I'm trying to export a table called material from a sqlexpress 2005 .mdf file called mydatabase to a csv file programatically in vb2008. i was looking at bcp and the shell command to call it, but simply can't get it to work - i'm calling it like so:
Shell("bcp mydatabase..material out 'c: est.txt' -c -T -S .SQLExpress")is there a way to do this without the shell? i would think it would be a little more professional looking for the app as a whole...
is there any way to attach a sql mdf by filename but actually make the database name something else?
the problem i'm having is that my connection string attaches the database just fine, but it gives the database a name of it's full path on the hard drive when i pull it up in SSMSE. ie. "c:program filesmy programmy database.mdf" is shown as the name when i do a sqlcmd and issue a select name from sys.databases
the snag is being hit due to the fact that i'm trying to do a "bcp in" and because a: there are spaces in the database name, and b: there's the .mdf extension also added to the database name that when i run my bcp in command it errors out, even if i use the -q option of bcp.
if i start SSMSE and right click the database and rename it, bcp works great - so my question is, how do i correctly format my connection string to attach to c:program filesmy programmy database.mdf, yet have it attach the database as "mydatabase" for use in bcp statements?
i've been to connectionstrings.com and they only cover the standard connection strings
in summary - i want to attach an mdf file programmatically and specify the name that ssmse see's it as....
I have two Access database, say database One.mdb and Two.mdb. I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset. However, there should be something simpler and faster than that, shouldn't it? Any idea?
I have been able to export data from a query to the xlsx file..howerver those fields which are currency in my sql server 2005 table are currency are showing up in the spreadsheet as text. The column mappings are correct when I look at it in connection manager.
Also Is there also a way to create a new worksheet each time the export is run or does the file have to be already named?
Trying to move from an Access MDB file to an SQLExpress(2005) MDF file and getting lots of problems. I have model my MDF file Like my Access MDB file ,same file name, same number of columns, same columns property, same columns name, see out of the 13 columns 8 have default value, I think I am getting a syntax problem when inserting the data into the table, being new to SQL Express I don't know how to write the proper SQl syntax
See my code for inserting and updating (using Access.mdb) which I whoud like transpose to SQL
'// Insert a record into the database for the node. sSql = "INSERT INTO [TreeViewItems] (bRoot, dLastModified, iImageIndex," & _ "iParentID, iSelectedImageIndex, iSort, sName, sFullName) VALUES " & _
I'm trying to take a multiline textbox and simply export the data out to a table in SQL. Each line in the textbox should be a new record in the table. Here's what I have so far:
Protected Sub btnMultiLineTestSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnMultiLineTestSubmit.Click
Dim sArray() As String sArray = Split(txtTest.Text, vbCrLf) For Each i In sArray
[code]....
How can I find out the value of the current item in the array?
I am writing an import program to import data from an access database to a SQL database. The table structure in the SQL and Access are the exact same with the same field names.I was wondering if there was a quick way to get the data into the SQL table without have to loop through each record?Currently:1. User selects the file2. Use a oledb connection i load the data into a DataAdapter3. Datadapter is bound to the DatagridNormally i would loop through each record in the datagrid and insert it into the table but i was wondering seeing as the column names are the same if i could save the messing about with loops and insert statements using 30 column names.
Code to load the Data is below ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & database & ";Jet OLEDB:Database Password=bekdemir"
I am trying to export the contents of Array to Microsoft Access table. But as of now i could do it via creating a text file in the local HDD. I would like to find a solution bypassing this step.
I want to export my DataGridView to a table in a word document. what should i "Import" and what reference to add ? and what to do if the reference i wanted to add i couldnt find in COM tab ??
I'm having some trouble trying to export a datatable to Access. I've built an Access DB and Table identical to the datatable that I'm trying to export using ADOX.Now using and OLEDB connection I'm trying to populate that table. The following code works just fine in another app written in 2005 but not in 2008 for some reason.
Basically I'm bringing in the empty Access table into a dataset.Filling that table with the rows from the export datatable. Then running the dataadapter's update method to send the data to Access. The problem is the da_a.Update doesn't seem to work. No errors, the Access table just isn't being populated. I checked my before and after counts. I know that the datatable is being populated. It's just not landing in Access.
Dim conn_a As New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & strFullFileName) conn_a.Open() 'Select Access Table into new Dataset[code]....
I am trying to export table data to an excel spreadsheet. It would be beneficial to have filtering pull-downs in the spreadsheet.I would be will to purchase any software tools to make this task easier. Otherwise are there some tutorials for accomplishing this?
I am a newbie in the asp.net world.I have any asp.net application where I get data from a stored procedure in a datatable.I would like to populate the data in an HTML table and then export it to excel.
Unfortunately these have to be done the long winded way (each column individually), since the data is modified based on user login credentials, before it is exported to excel. [code]...
I have to make a calculator that exports the data to a word/excel table -i'm using Office 2007- and i don't know how to create the code. Here's how it looks like and that's how the table should look like (i "masked" some of the parts cause they're not really important):
I see the examples where I can export a table into an Excel Worksheet by using SELECT * INTO [Excel 8.0;Database=C:Book1.xls].[Sheet1] FROM [MyTable] But I can only use [MyTable] if it is a binding source correct? What i would like to do is something like:
I've created a table in SQL and inserted specific information into it programmatically. Now I need to export this whole table data, including headers into txt file (tab delimited)- from within Visual Basic project (Windows type application).
I have a VB.NET application that creates a dataview from sql table and exports it as an excel file. Now, the data is inserted value by value. Instead, I want to insert the data from the dataview as a bulk insert on to the excel file. The data insert should happen from the third row, as I need to use the first two rows for column insert and data formating (which is done later in the program using excel macro.).Heres the code I wish to upgrade :
Dim strConn As String = "Data Source = LV-SQL2; Initial Catalog = TC_MASTER; user id = SQL2JOB; password = ******** " Dim strSql1 As String = "Select Customer_id_1, file_name from customer_list_DA order by customer_id_1" Dim da1 As New SqlDataAdapter(strSql1, strConn)

in my scheduling app I am able to export to excel and fill the first worksheet with data and save the workbook and change the name of the worksheet(Thanks to .paul) but I am stuck on adding a new workshhet and renamiming it.so I do this:
'in this case I am starting with Jan 16 - Feb 12, 2011 and changing it to Jan16Feb12,2011, ' this will be the workbook name. fileToOpen = lblDateRange.Text fileToOpen = fileToOpen.Replace(" ", "").Replace("-", "") & ".xls"
On my Staff Scheduling application I have everything working except for some conditional programming. What I was wondering was if it possible to export to a preformatted worksheet in excel. I found code on the web that allows me to export from the DGV, but it has no formatting.Examples:I set the DGV Column Headers to visible = false and use labels above the columns to show the weekday and date. So I need to use S,M,T,W,T,F,S as the column headers (4 sets) and the days date just below each week day. So I don't want the auto generated column headers names in the Excel fields.
I have an application which produces a 2 page report which also has tables in it.What I needed to know is whether you guys can provide a link or some helpful code, by which I can export these pages to MS word file. The word file should be in editable format after export.
