I have written an import routine, that imports a textfile into a database table, using a schema.ini.In the input file, 3 fields are seperated, that should be concatenated in the import-routine. Does anyone know how I can make that happen...Small part of the import-routine, first lines are the last lines of the programatically created schema.ini.

i know i have to use a loop to get each line of the textbox onto a newline of a textfile but i dont know how to figure out how many lines of text the user has entered into a textbox. I tryed using a try statment to loop until it errors, it seems to work sometimes but other times it only takes half of the textbox and adds it to the textfile. And if atmaweapon reads this, i tryed to make better names for variables. Here is my code,

how many line of text there are... im not so shure how good it is to run a loop tell it errors for a textfile, but its the only way i could think of.

I have a txt file, that i want to read into my program. The problem is this:The textfile is a stats file for a game and looks like this:

The main thing i want to do is sort these things out and then add to mysql database table that would have these columns:

So what i wanna do is splitting this textfile data up and then adding everything to a mysql table.

I have read the file I/O tutorial and I learned alot. My problem is I need to send several different txt fields at one time and each into there own file. This was simple in vb6 using something like below, I have no idea how to do this with .net. Also on start up I will need to read this information back into text fields.

I'm making a program which has 7 textboxes. I intend the program to be used for classes in school, so the text would be like 2D Art, Geology etc... whatever your classes are. I have figured out how to use the streamwriter to take the text in the textboxes and write them to a .txt file however, my issue is with loading the text from the .txt file back into the textboxes. I did figure out how to write it so that all the text in the .txt file is loaded back into textbox1 but I have 7 textboxes... Here's the coding for the Load button:

I created an e-mail program in VB2008. I have an excel file with a list of all e-mail addresses and attachments to those e-mail addresses. What I want to do is import thethe e-mail addresses and attachments into my program. I want my program to then take each e-mail address (automatically) and insert them with their attachments into their respectable fields in the program. Issue: The .xls file has about 800 records but it's only importing about 480 records. I step through each row and find out that some rows have null values.After spending some time I believe I figured out why this is happening. My first field is a SKU value. The first x rows have all numeric values. Then it gets to a SKU like '1234-SE' and this row doesn't have data. So it's like it takes on the field type of the first data type.Question: Is there a way to order the data before I populate the dataset? I tried to do an order by but didn't work.My current code that is not working as I want.**NOTE: I have tried 'ORDER BY SKU ASC' and didn't work as well.

I would like to save let's say "HKLM/SOFTWARE" into file using API. First I open the key using RegOpenKeyEx. This works fine as I see that the ReturnPointer is different from zero and differs also when I switch from "SOFTWARE" to other subkey, therefore I assume no problem there.The problem comes when I want to save into the file. It creates only a blank file with return code of 1314. I have googled for this, but only found that this error means that application has no privilege to perform the action and I need to setup "SeRestorePrivilege" & "SeBackupPrivilege" property somehow. I haven't been able to find a good VB.NET example for this and as I am very weak with APIs I wasn't able to construct one of my own, therefore I would like to ask you for advice on this.Could you please help me on how to set the privileges so that I can export/import registry? I've got a piece of VB script that runs from a logon script. It contains the line: objShell.run("regedit /s/c \SERVERNETLOGONScriptTest.reg", 0) Which imports a file into the registry just as I want. The /s switch means that I don't get the two warnings from the regedit program which is exactly what I'm looking for but everytime it runs the UAC asks for permission to make changes to the computer which of course I don't want to happen.

I'm developing a VB Web Application in .NET3.5 using Visual Studio 2008. I'm having difficulty in validating some XML as a string before I add it to a HTML form to post to a 3rd party. I have an XML schema file from the 3rd party to validate against and at this point I'd like the application to perform the validation before each post.

After searching I've found references to a XmlValidatingReader but this is obsolete and I'm having difficulty finding another way to do it. I need to have some of my columns in an integer value not string.So from I can tell so far and I am extremely limited, if I use WriteXml this should write the schema and the data and the readxml will read the schema and the data, although I dont see the schema in my xml file that gets created from my oDS.WriteXml/if I use oDs.WriteSchema I can view the schema file that is created. Thats how I determined the schema is creating all string vlaues for each column..All the fields are of String value as was pointed out, so how do i create my own schema file? or rewrite the one that is created.[code]

Currently, I am try to get the email addresses that have been saved or stored by the user of the computer. This isn't the emails that the user has sent or received, or the contacts he/she has in his address book. Just simply the email accounts that have been accessed from the computer.I know that there are some locations stored in the registry that have the email account. The email addresses that are used on the current computer. I just can't seem to find them on my computer.I am not sure if the registry is the only place to find it or if it stored on the web browser such as internet explorer or google chrome.

I am writing an application that connects to a specific com port. This com port can change depending on how many physical ports are on the PC, and if other USB devices have installed com ports before this one.

I have the communication to the com port all working great, but I need to get the com port description not just the "COM#" which is all I currently get.

I found in the registry where the description is stored but am having trouble doing what I need.

there is a varied number of sub keys. The are numbered 0000-NNNN depending on how many ports you have. Inside each of these keys, there are multiple values, although I am only interested in one or 2 of them.

My problem is, that I do not know how to get a list of the subkeys (the 0000-NNNN keys/folders) from the original key I posted. I have looked through a few registry tutorials, and I can view the default value in the listed key, but I could not find how to list the subkeys of the listed key.

Does anyone have any sample code they could share that shows how I can get a listing of subkeys, and then run through those subkeys checking for a specific value in one of the strings contained in the subkey?

I am using VB.net 2008 and Windows XP.

I am using VB-2005 with SQL server. After compiling I get an error unable to copy the schema file'(null)'

I checked the net and see to check the registry for

other than
(Default) -

and both exist, at this point I am not sure what to do other then re-installing VB
