VS 2005 How To Create Own Schema File

I need to have some of my columns in an integer value not string.So from I can tell so far and I am extremely limited, if I use WriteXml this should write the schema and the data and the readxml will read the schema and the data, although I dont see the schema in my xml file that gets created from my oDS.WriteXml/if I use oDs.WriteSchema I can view the schema file that is created. Thats how I determined the schema is creating all string vlaues for each column..All the fields are of String value as was pointed out, so how do i create my own schema file? or rewrite the one that is created.[code]

No mater what I try I can not get my schema file to work, it write and is in the right directory but the column all come as strings no matter what I do?

I am having a problem with my program that is desinged to read a 3rd party text file database. I posted previosuly about a problem inserting an item in a new row and the column was expectig a different data type. It appears that sometimes the column is being determined to be of decimal value, I dont understand why. the fields contain information such as
Col1
F123456
CLW-12321 etc....
So my column fills with
123456
12321 the letters just get chopped off
So I added MaxScanRows = 0 to my schema file and that took care of the problem
Except now several of my columns that contain Date Values are coming back
9/24/2010 00:00:00
without the setting MaxScanRows = 0
The date returned 9/24/2010

I am thinking that without the MaxScanRows = 0 setting the datatype for Col1 is being incorrectly determined
I am not sure what is happening with other columns that contain date values. Apparently If i use MaxScan Rows=0 all columns are being pulled over as string value which creates numerous problems. If I dont use maxscanrows then all columns appear to be correct except Col21 MLSNUM which is being pulled in as a decimal. Can I change that in the schema file?

i have to create a class that creates an xml file using a schema.i created a "Component class in vb.net and setted his properties with the tag xmlelement("nameofthexmlnode").i did the creation of the xml.Now i have to use the xml schema but i didn't found an easy to use/understand example.i know that i have to serialize the object but i can't still create an xml using a valid schema.

A similar question has been asked before but noone seems to have an answer.I have an xsd which is fairly complex in nature.I must now create the xml file to be validated against it but I hate trying to interpret xsd. It's all gobbldygook to me.
Is there any way I can take an xsd file and create on the fly an example of what the xml file should look like?

I have had a problem with my program not working on a windows 7 machines so i finally built a box with Windows7 to test it. It seems the Schema.ini file is not being created.If I manually place the schema.ini file in the directory my program runs fine any ideas on why the file is not created on a Windows7 machine but is created on XP

I'm developing a VB Web Application in .NET3.5 using Visual Studio 2008. I'm having difficulty in validating some XML as a string before I add it to a HTML form to post to a 3rd party. I have an XML schema file from the 3rd party to validate against and at this point I'd like the application to perform the validation before each post.
After searching I've found references to a XmlValidatingReader but this is obsolete and I'm having difficulty finding another way to do it. I am using VB-2005 with SQL server. After compiling I get an error unable to copy the schema file'(null)'
I checked the net and see to check the registry for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftVisualStudio7.1DeploymentSchema
other than
(Default) -
a. DefaultMSISchemaFile
b. DefaultMSMSchemaFile
and both exist, at this point I am not sure what to do other then re-installing VB

I can access the data but the problem is that I want to know how many Tables there are in the xml file. I have an untyped-Dataset with two related DataTables, and I have a grid bound to the parent DataTable. I used the WriteXMLSchema() method of the parent DataTable in order to save the schema in a xml file. Then I opened the file with the Notepad, deleted two columns from the schema file and saved it. After that, I used the ReadXMLSchema() of this DataTable but -contrary to what I would have thought- the DataTable's structure was unchanged. Using the debugger I noticed that after calling the method the number of columns was the same. Why? How can I make the DataTable's schema to be changed by using a file?
notice that I am using the DataTable's methods and not the Dataset's because I do not want to touch the child DataTable.

I have written an import routine, that imports a textfile into a database table, using a schema.ini.In the input file, 3 fields are seperated, that should be concatenated in the import-routine. Does anyone know how I can make that happen...Small part of the import-routine, first lines are the last lines of the programatically created schema.ini.

i have been coding for years, but never integrated XML. So I guess I'm a newbie. I have inserted an XSD file in my project, ARequest.xsd. I created a folder in my project called XML just to organize things, so this file ARequest.xsd, is in this folder.
Now I have a form that displays data from a database that has the same fields that are in this XSD file. Can I load the XSD file into my Windows Form, load the elements from the data on the windows form and then create an XML file then send it? If so how? Any code snippets would be helpful. I just need to know how to create a temporary file for each line of a file when it is selected in a listbox, so that i can split it and assign each part to textboxes.
1) create temporary file from variable for each line of a current file (each line represents a contact, and temporary file's name is the contact's fullname(variable as string))
2) listbox SelectedIndexChange = search fullname.dat (temporary file)
3) split the content of the fullname.dat file and assign each part to display in textboxes the only thing i got a problem with is creating the temporary file.

I need a bit of advice. I am working on my project with the listbox. I know how to create a source to get the strings from the text file using ReadLine method, but I have no idea how to split the strings in the text file by on the third commas and ignore the other strings while select with the matched strings on the listbox for each row.Here it is an example listbox Here it is an example items on the listbox
random item 1
random item 2
random item 3
random item 4
random item 5
And here it is an example text file.
example strings one, any strings 1, any random strings 1, other strings 1, final end of strings 1
example strings two, any strings 2, any random strings 2, other strings 2, final end of strings 2

i need to create an application(VB.net or VBA) which will convert text file contents into excel. u the contents fromt he text file have delimiters(special characters).The condition is while converting it should remove all the delimiters and paste teh content between two delimiters in to one cell.For Eg:

I am attempting to have my program select a file, create DataTables and then perform some other functions. I want to be able to open another file and re-do the same steps.The problem I am having is that I add columns to my Datatables and when I try and to open another file while one is already open I get a message that a column of xyz is already added how do I properly "clear my datatable" or perhaps that isnt even the correct approach? the schema is created using VS, but when I try creating the schema using XSD.exe, the validation works, am I missing something here, like namespace or anything?

I have an imported sql database using pa as the schema instead of the default dboThe problem is when I go into vs 2008 and create a gridview control, it won't recognize the from table object.
