Im using:

For Each ClientControl As HtmlElement In wb.Document.Links
ListBox1.Items.Add(ClientControl.GetAttribute("href"))
Next

It gets the value of the link the files are (the hyperlink) and allows me to download the file, but I want to get to get the string assocaited with it as well

For example, A link says click here! and bring you to a page.

I can get the link to the page, but not the text click here according to my source code.

VS 2010 Crawling A Webpage For Links That Are Dynamically Created?

Aug 25, 2011

I'm trying my hand at making a program that crawls some of the larger retail sites for prices of products in a single category, TV for example. With Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Newegg, none of them are an issue so far because I can call the site using httpwebrequest and parse with regex. The one that has me completely stumped is Target. If you check this link: url...You can see that there is a grid of all the TVs they sell. The problem is that the links are not part of the original page as they do not appear when you view the source code. As far as I can tell, they're called in by some Javascript code when you load the page. From what I've gathered, loading this final content via httpwebrequest is impossible. So how are pages like this crawled? Would a workaround involve using built in webbrower tool in vb.net? That seems clunky to me. Anyone point me in the right direction

The files save fine, but when you go to save the file, if you hit the cancel button, it will overwrite the previous file you saved, because it's name was the same and it seems to save the previous file as the new name for your next file. Is there any way to catch if the user clicks cancel, and then exiting the sub if they did?

File I/O And Registry :: Save Data Of Objects To File?

Oct 4, 2008

I have about 4000 objects of a class, each object with 20 members/variables, integers and strings, total about 80000.

I would like to save these to a file, and read them back into objects when the program starts up.

How would I do this in order to keep track of each variable? I was planning to have each line in the file representing the variables of 1 object. Hence 4000 lines. But basically I'm just looking for the easiest way to save and retrieve this data. Should I first convert the objects to an array of strings?

I'm trying to create an app to launch at start up that will ask you what applications you want launching, or if you want all your favorite app's to start up etc. But before I go any further, I think its crucial to know how to save settings that a user has entered (such as program location and name in this case) so that he/she doesn't have to enter them every time at start up.

So far I have just made this, can anyone tell me how I would get it to save the settings entered?

I'm just curious as to how some software programs that I see out there have the ability to extract links & text from thousands of web pages at an extremely high and fast rate. Has anyone here, ever created a link or text extracting program the has the ability to parse many webpages and return data into a textbox? I know how to extract links via the webbrowser control, but it doesn't seem to parse/extract data at a very high & fast rate like many email, link & text extracting programs that I see out there.

File I/O And Registry :: Reading Multiple Keys From The Registry?

Aug 27, 2008

I am writing an application that connects to a specific com port. This com port can change depending on how many physical ports are on the PC, and if other USB devices have installed com ports before this one.

I have the communication to the com port all working great, but I need to get the com port description not just the "COM#" which is all I currently get.

I found in the registry where the description is stored but am having trouble doing what I need.

In this key:

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlClass{4D36E978-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

there is a varied number of sub keys. The are numbered 0000-NNNN depending on how many ports you have. Inside each of these keys, there are multiple values, although I am only interested in one or 2 of them.

My problem is, that I do not know how to get a list of the subkeys (the 0000-NNNN keys/folders) from the original key I posted. I have looked through a few registry tutorials, and I can view the default value in the listed key, but I could not find how to list the subkeys of the listed key.

Does anyone have any sample code they could share that shows how I can get a listing of subkeys, and then run through those subkeys checking for a specific value in one of the strings contained in the subkey?

I am using VB.net 2008 and Windows XP.
