Find All Of Listeners Of A Given Object?
Nov 17, 2010
I have an object (myObject) and I'm trying to find everything that is listening to any event of that object.
The following code seems to work as expected for listeners created with the AddHandler syntax; but does not report listeners created using the 'Handles' syntax.[code]...

I am having the library in C#.Net. If I am creating the form in C# and adding listeners to the C#.Net library object the event handlers called immediately. IF I am creating the form in VB.net and adding listeners to the C#.Net library object, the handlers are called after some time. Do we have any priority to be set the event handlers

After reading all the examples for list of T exists and Find and find first, none show how to handle multi-property objects. Below is bare bones example maybe someone could flesh out to show how this should be done.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim DatePriceList As New List(Of DateAndPrice)
DatePriceList.Add(New DateAndPrice(Date.Parse("1/1/2000"), 10.12))
DatePriceList.Add(New DateAndPrice(Date.Parse("1/2/2000"), 11.12))

I am constantly receiving back objects and it would be very useful be able to print out all of their properties. Is there a way in VB to get all the properties of an object and print them out (to console)?

Is there a way that I can parse through the objects of an application and determine if each one is TypeOf a particular form object? I have found no clear way getting a reference to forms that have already been opened. Complicating this further, it appears that not all Visual Basic commands are available to me when coding for an old PocketPC device.

This Questions has properties QuestionID and QuestionAnswer. While iterating through this List of Question in foreach, I have to find .QuestionID = 12. If I find .QuestionID = 12 then I have to immediately assign a value to .QuestionAnswer = "SomeText" of .QuestionID = 14.
I don't want iterate again inside .QuestionId = 12' to find.QuestionID = 14` again.
Is there any way I can go directly to .QuestionID = 14 using LINQ?[code]...

There a dictionary object that gets loaded with the following key values:
[Code]...
In most situations, life is good and all the individual key values are needed/unique. But in certain situations, the keys with letters behind them (ie...189a, 189b, 189c) all mean the same thing (ie...189). So I need a way to see if a key value exists (like the containskey method) for only the first part of the key and then return true.

I am using the IndexOf function of the string class to find a specific instance of a string. And based on that I have a logic to do something. Below is the example of what I am doing. The code is in production and is working fine. But for some instance I am getting an "Object reference not set error". Yeah its intermittent. The requestXML is a string of xml data passed in as a paramter to a subroutine. I am fetching the xml string as a form post in a request object. The only thing I could think of getting this kind of error is when the requestXML string varia
requestXml = Request("requestXML")
SubmitRequest(requestXml)

This starts with an object being added to a collection with: CommonArgs.Add(ObjName, Me)
ObjName is a string, call it "Obj1". Me is an instance of a class inheriting from UserControl. Call it "Class1".
Now, to check the value assigned to Obj1, the vendor has the
Dim Obj As Object = CommonArgs(ObjName)
Dim Info As System.Reflection.FieldInfo = Obj.GetType().GetField(ObjName, System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Public Or System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Instance Or System.Reflection.BindingFlags.IgnoreCase)
Obj is the Class1 object added to CommonArgs.
When I run this in my test app, Info is Nothing-but when I run it in the vendor's app Info is an Enumerated type. Why?
I've found a little more info, but it's still a mystery to me-and so far it appears to be a mystery to everybody else, too.
First, I noticed that I didn't mention that the Collection is a Hashtable. I don't know if that would make a difference, but it is something I forgot to mention.
Second, there's a 'regular' variable named ObjName that contains the value being returned by Info. My understanding is that there's no connection between these, e.g. Dim X as Integer = 1 doesn't change the type or value of the object of CommonArgs("X"). But that's what appears to be happening.
Any suggestion?

Basically, I've got this plugin-based application I've used all the time in VS2008 flawlessly. In my current project (VS2010 by the way) I wrote a plugin for the application and whenever I try to use an instance of a particular class (in an external dll) from my plugin, I get an error.
I tried watching the instance and I got the message:
"Cannot find the method on the object instance."
in the watch window. This has never happened before! I also found that some of the extension methods in the plugin does not work.

OrigVendors = new List( of IVendors)
I populate the OrigVendors variable and what I want to do is find all the objects that have the ID I am looking for. Then I need to update a property on that object for only the ones found. Is this do able with an IList or do I need to use some other type of collection? I am using VB.net.

I have a list of objects, each object has a score attribute,The list of scores needs to be combined on the player ID to become a totaled score or series. My current thought process is to For Each through the list of individual games, and add the score attribute to a new list of scores with the same objects. So one list would be like:
clsGame(ID Number, Sore)
dim ScoreList as list(of clsGames)
ScoreList.Add(New clsGame(11, 244)
ScoreList.Add(New clsGame(11, 333)
ScoreList.Add(New clsGame(11, 444)
Then go through combining on like ID's to make a new list of games, that would actually be the series.
Dim SeriesList as new list(of clsClasses)
For each game as clsGame in ScoreList
'cycle through the list of series seeing if an ID matches, if so add the score onto that ID
Else
[code]....
Now I don't know how to add the player if its not in the seiries list without doing a heck of a lot more for each statements. If I add it after the end if then it will be added even if it is in the list..I tried playing around with List.Contains method, but I could only see if it contaned the exact same values i.e
SeiresList.Contains(game)
and because the scores are different (series vs single game) it wouldn't match, and I don't know how to see if it contains an object with just one of the attributes the same...

I have some code that locates all the contact folders that a user has access to by iterating through the Application.Session.Stores collection. This works for the user's contacts and also all the public contacts folders. It also finds all the contacts folders in additional mailbox accounts that the user has added via the Tools -> Account Settings... menu command.
However, this requires the user to have full access to the other person's account. When a user only has access to another person's contacts, then that person's contacts show up under the "People's Contacts" group in the Contacts view. How do I find those contact folders that don't show up under Session.Stores?
In order to see the other user's contacts folder without adding access to their full mailbox, click File -> Open -> Other User's Folder... from the Outlook menu. In the dialog box, enter the other user's name and select Contacts from the Folder type drop down list.
Here's the code (minus the error checking and logging) I'm using to find a list of all the user's Outlook contact folders. I know this can (and maybe should) be done using early binding to the Outlook.Application type, but that doesn't affect the results. EnumerateFolders is recursive so that it searches all sub folders.
Dim folderList = New Dictionary(Of String, String)
Dim outlookApp = CreateObject(Class:="Outlook.Application")
For Each store As Object In outlookApp.Session.Stores
EnumerateFolders(folderList, store.GetRootFolder)
Next

I am getting some wierd errors when using the ReportViewer control in Visual Studio 2008. When I try to access the LocalReport property, it displays with this error: "Cannot find the method on the object instance.". Also, I am getting invalid cast errors saying I cannot cast from Microsoft.Reporting.Winforms.ReportViewer to Microsoft.Reporting.Winforms.ReportViewer. I am getting this using either CType or DirectCast. This is really frustrating as I can find almost no documentation on this error.

I searched on the forum / Internet for the solution how a PropetryInfo object (of a Public property) can reveal if it has a Private Protected Setter ... it was all in vain .... all help I found was about how to "Set" value of a public property having a Private Setter.I would like to know if I have a PropertyInfo object of a public property, how would I know if its Setter is Non Public?
I tried, in a exception handling block, where I did a GetValue of the PropertyInfo object and then called SetValue by setting the same value back... but to my surprise it worked well and didn error out.

I have a couple of NET 2.0 projects on the go, but in one of them, I can't access the "Server" object to get at its HtmlEncode property. i.e Server.HtmlEncode("xxx") does not work.
I get the following error displayed in Visual Studio design time error log: "Local variable 'server' cannot be referred to before it is declared."
I have tried to add a manual reference to System.Web, but although the dll file is present, it doesn't add itself on - or at least it doesn't display on the "Add Reference" dialog as being added. BUT here is what's interesting - I can access other intrinsic objects such as "Request", "Response"...etc. All except "Server"!
