How I can find the index for the listview on a listview click event to something like this: Code: Private Sub listView1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) MessageBox.Show(listView1.Items(e.Index).SubItems(1).Text) End Sub
I don't want to use for each integer in the listview as i would keep getting the loops which I would hate to use it. I only want to use something like e.Index. I know that the index is not a member in e, but I don't want to use listview item check event due to loops. How I can find the index for the listview items without using for each integer as only using e.index?

after a week of trying to find a control that combines the Treeview/Listview, a so-called TreeListView, I gave up. The ones I found are either buggy or have too many features (making them heavy). The best way for my personal needs is probably to use an ownerdrawn Listview and doing the indentation (expanding/collapsing) myself. There are a few problems:
1) I can't get the Plus/Minus images to show properly. If I expand a 'node' and collapse it, then the Plus image doesn't show. If I expand two 'nodes', then the Minus image of the first expanded 'node' becomes a Plus image again.
2) Clicking the Plus and then Minus image too fast causes weird flashing behaviour of the 'node' expading/collapsing.
3) Somehow I need to be able to update the Listview in real-time. I know I can use ListView.RedrawItems to refresh a single row, but I need some kind of structure to know which 'nodes' have been expanded. When a 'node' gets expanded, then everything below gets a different index.
I tried different methods like FindItemWithText, but it will not work. My challenge is that I have a textbox (txtSok) for the search word, and a new ListView (frmTelefon) that I will populate with the result from my search. The search routine are using data from another ListViewItem on another form (frmOPS).
I would like to have the search done by using the TextChanged on txtSok. My frmOPS have 5 columns, but the search is going to look for items similar to txtSok.Text in column 2. From the result of the search, I will populate frmTelefon with the Add method in three columns (name, address and phonenumber).
It even indicates if the string I'm seeking is in the middle of a line. But what I would like is for the routine to highlight the line that that string is in and ensure visible. I can do that with another routine that uses an integer, but then the whole string(line) has to be the searchString. I've tried combining the two and even calling a Private Sub but with no success:(What is the best way to do this? Also, how do you get around doing it when the searchWord in in several lines?
My task for the moment is just to find out what the height of ListView's data row is (not the header--different height). The height of a ListView meant to fit exactly the contents of the list can't be set statically. This is because, when a system uses font scaling, the ListView rows are going to be scaled relative to the scaled font. So, I have to find out what the height of the first row is (since they're all the same height) and then multiply that by the number of items in the list. This should get me an exact fit for the height of the ListView.
I have a list view, of which I want to find the index of... Using the click event, I have no problems at all with this code, but SelectedIndexChanged throws this at me:
i'd like to find/filter listvew item as i type in a textbox, the listviewitemfind doesn't seem to work whe i try it.is this possible without looping through all columns and then all rows?
I want to drag-drop single text items from ListView-A to ListView-B (both are in Details mode), but can't see how to read (and hence highlight) the index of the line in ListView-B when the mouse is hovering over it. Easy in a ListBox, but the PointToClient > IndexFromPoint features don't work with ListView controls and I just can't see another way .
Have a populated listview with check boxes. If the item is checked I want to send it to report for printing. This code is bypassed:
Code: Private Sub GetSelectedItems() If Not Me.ListView1.SelectedItems.Count = 0 Then
[code]....
Count is always = 0. This seems to work only if the item is double clicked. And then only one item is returned in the msgbox. MSDN says "The SelectedItems property will not contain any items if the property is accessed before the ListView handle is created, which typically occurs when ListView is initially loaded for display in the form. You can check to see if the handle is created with the IsHandleCreated property."
When I tried to check for the handle, an error said something about overloading. So I added this:
Code: Public Overloads ReadOnly Property GetSelectdItems() Get If Not Me.ListView1.SelectedItems.Count = 0 Then
[code]....
Which does not help. How to find the items checked/create the needed handle?
I am currently using the code below within a VB.Net application to find specific text in a Word document. The text is surrounded by symbols represented by the character codes in the .Text statement. The code below is working fine. The issue now is that sometimes the desired text within a document has been marked for deletion and appears as tracked change within the document. I would like to find only the desired text that has NOT been marked for deletion. Does anyone know of a way to determine if the found text is a deletion?
I have 3 forms, one frmMain - main form, second is frmUserType- childform, and the last frmCreateUserType. In the main form I have a menu item to open my frmUserType, In this form I have a button to open another form which is my frmCreateUserType, In this form I have a button to add records then update the listview in frmUserType. The problem is the listview will not access with my add button control in frmCreateUserType. I tried not to used mdiparent declaration for my frmMain and frmUserType as children and it works, so meaning that the problem is showing my frmUserType as childform?I am using vb.net 2008
Code to open my second form (frmUserType)
[CODE]...........
Code for my add button to update the listview in frmUserType
I have a media browser program I am building. I am trying to use drag/drop so a user can drag media tracks from one listview to another listview and then use the second list view as a playlist in windows media player com object. Reading at MSDN I have found out that there is no built in support for item re-ordering with the listview control. I have listview1 working correctly but when I try to reorder items in listview2, the dragged item ends up at the end of the list. So basically I need to get the item insertion index corrected. I have tried more than 10 times to get this code right.
Here is my code which includes a form with two listview's.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub ListView_ItemDrag(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As _ System.Windows.Forms.ItemDragEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemDrag, _ ListView2.ItemDrag
I've got a form - CMCConsole It pops up a dialog form for adding a new case.If the matter number in a textbox on that dialog form matches an existing cases matter number I would like to find it in the binding source of the CMCConsole form
Private Function CheckMatter(ByVal MtrNum As String) As Boolean Dim cfIndex As Integer = CMCConsole.caseBS.Find("MatterNumber", MtrNum) Dim cfIndex2 As Integer = CMCConsole.casefileBS.Find("MatterNumber", MtrNum)
[code]....
But it appear the filter for the CASE we were just on that is set on the binding source is keeping the FIND from seeing other cases.
caseBS.Filter = "CaseId=" & e.Node.Tag.ToString
Do I have to clear the filter in order to find a matter number in some other case??
I have two listview in a separate form, basically what i want to do is whenever I select a row in my first listview the items in that selected row will be copied in my second listview which is empty.
I'm using ListView control, with SmallIcons style in VB.NET. Icons are loaded fine, but when I start to scroll ListView down or up from scrollbar (clicking from arrows), rowheight drops to about half from normal in next 20-30 rows below/above upper/bottom row (depends from the scrolling position). After 1-2 seconds, ListView is "refreshed" and scrolling continues normally. When focus in on the ListView and I'm moving up/down with arrow keys or PageUp/PageDown, everything is normal. Any suggestions, what is happening? SmallIcons size is 16 * 16. Is it compulsory to set "Blank icon" with SmallIcon size to all rows, when adding them or what? Wasn't like that in VB6, how is it in VB.NET?
i am developing a point of sales system. currently i have my product code scanned and displayed in a listview. lets say that i have 5 product codes displayed in my first listview. By clicking on a button, how can i use these codes to call upon the details (prices, product name, etc.) of the corresponding codes and display in another listview?
i am using Visual Basic 2008 and MsAccess as my database. who have the idea on solving my question. (As my last thread has not been answered at all..
