What I want to do is that program gives to me all the "hello" are inside this text file, and I must list them in another text file,

VS 2005 - How To Write Line Into Text File (CFG)
May 17, 2011I want to write a line into a text/.cfg file. The line is = name "ishtiak". I need a sapce between name & "ishtiak". The text "ishtiak" is loading from a textbox called textbox1. I dont want in the text box my name like this "ishtiak" it will be without "" like this ishtiak
but in the text file it will add "" before & after my name.
So the question is
1. How to add space between name & "ishtiak"? like this = name "ishtiak"
2. My textbox text will be ishtiak,but it will be written like this "ishtiak"

Jan 26, 2012i need to code a program to help me in my everyday job, i own my own business and this will help me with my sales. its a very simple program, and i cant figure out how to get my multiple textboxes to write to a new .txt file. i can only get it to do 1 line at a time. I have textboxes. named txtDate, txtCarrier, txtLocation, txtDateEmpty, txtDestination, txtQuote, txtPhone, txtFax, txtEmail.I want the "txtDate" textbox to be autofilled with the current date and time of the user input, which is started on the next textbox.the rest of the textboxes are going to be user input. then when the user is done entering data into the multiple textbox's they would click a button "add" or something to that sort.then those text box entries including the "txtDate" would be written to a new .txt file.in this format, Quote"Date - Carrier - Location - DateEmpty - Destination - Quote - Phone - Fax - Email "all on the same line.and when the "add" button is clicked, the multiple textbox fields clear all the data previously entered.and is ready for another user input.

After this I don't care to search for anything. Just read from source and write to destination. I know there are programs out there to find/replace text in series of files but I am not allowed to use external programs.

I'm currently developing an app which essentially needs a way for me to search in a text box or file for a specific string, and extract the line on which that string appears on. It will be unique, and the syntax is the same on each line. It has basically 2 ID numbers, and is laid out like this:
123456|123456
So, I'd need to search for the first part before the |, and then get the line so I can get the bit after the |, which is the important bit for me.

Dec 19, 2008I've been looking through the FCL for a method that will allow me to erase a line of text from a text file and replace it with another line of text. Neither the StreamReader nor StreamWriter have a method for replacing or removing Text from a text file, as does the string object. Are there any available methods for erasing just certain lines of text from a file, and then replacing them with others?
In my code, I'd like to locate a certain line in the text file, and then at that point in the text file, use a For...Next Loop to replace each successive line of the text file with new text:

Apr 25, 2009The following code allows words to be added to a listbox. Add the word to a text file and create a folder with the word as its name. The second part undoes the actions.If I try to delete the word immediately after adding it one of two things happen.
1.An error is reported stating the path cannot be found. Although the listbox index value is correct according to the code the error is pointing at that index +1.
2.The code continues to the point of requesting conformation to delete the folder, still pointing at the index value +1. I the action is confirmed the wrong folder is deleted.
However if I stop debugging, then run the code again all works correctly.Is it likely to persist when the application is compiled?

Jun 23, 2011I'm reading a text file with StreamReader, line by line. If a condition is met, then I do an operation and then start reading the file again from the first line. I realize I could close and then re-open the file, but surely this would be very slow.
I could do this easily in VB6, but pulling my hair out trying to do this in vB.net. It seems that 'Seek' is the function to use, but it doesn't work.
I've seen other examples, where it works, but you must open it a different way -- with a file number.

Jul 27, 2011When i am receiving server responses some are to long for the RTB so obviously continue on the next line. Each line is time stamped. If the word is to long it looks as follows:
15:00 this is a long
message
15:01 another message and so on
what i would like is for the new line to be indented to under the text above so it does not wrap directly under the time stamp. [Code]
