I am making some sort of panic program where if any key is pressed while the person is using the process in the combobox, it will kill the event....
I.e lets say i am playing a game (or googling something) and I press control-alt
I have a unique challenge that I just cannot seem to get by...I have a form with a series of listboxes that allows the user to rename items in the listbox (I probably should be using a listview control instead). When the user right-clicks and selects rename from the context menu I show a simple form with two labels & text boxes showing the selected list box item in one textbox...the other is blank waiting for the user to enter a new name. What I'd like to do is when the user closes the rename form, the information is passed back to the calling form and a listbox refresh method is fired to show the changed name. Couple question:
First, is there an easier method to implement the renaming concept in a listbox (probably should be using a list view) i.e., have I overcomplicated things?
I am using vb.net and i want to fire/execute labels mousehover and other events when user pressed mouse left buttion.For Ex.: i want to execute mousehover event when user pressed left mouse buttion. Without pressing left buttion you can execute but i want to execute with press.
View 4 RepliesI have a simple login field, which works fine with the exception of one quirk. The form is set up with the tab order to go to the UserID first and the Password text box second. This works fine when the form is used the first time, but when the form is used the second time the focus in placed in the Password field. If the form is used a third time, focus is moved the OK button, that is each time moves to the next tab order. I even tried to set the focus in the Load event as in Me.txtUserID.Focus(), but this doesn't change the behavior. Again, I should note that I close the form and not hide the form.
View 3 RepliesI am doing something similar to the calulator in windows. My form has a key_up event that allows the user to type numbers. There is also number buttons they can click. Once a number button is clicked, it gains focus and the key_up no longer works.
I looked at windows caluclator and when you click a button there it does not gain focus and the keyboard keys continue to work. How can I get this behaviour?

View 2 RepliesI have a weird problem (probably only to understand) why in a test app the focus rect is not shown until I press the tab key. I want to show a dialog with two radioboxes and two buttons. When I display the dialog, I'd like to see a focus rect around my first radiobutton. (So that the user can see where the focus is.) I ordered the controls and set the tabindex property from 0 to 4 so that they are in the correct order. (radiobox 1 has tabindex 0, ...). When I show the dialog the first radiobox has the focus, but it has no focus rect around it. (Until I press tab key.) I created an completely empty winforms project (Visual Studio 2010), added the controls and started it. So there is nothing special at all.

I have two forms in an application. One is he background and then I show another keypad form called with the show() method (not showDialog) because I need to perform some validations on btn click.
The kepad has 10 buttons and an Enter Button. The problem is that the form keeps loosing focus (I checked this with a messagebox which keeps poping up once for focus=true and again for focus=false, it continuously keeps losing and gaining focus) so it does not process any keypress events untill i click somewhere on the form. I tried using me.focus() in form load event but to no avail. The forms TopMost property is also set to true.
im working on a little app for my self, to make my life a little more convenient. I have some media keys on my laptop, and I would like to use them with itunes while it is minimized. I found a app that did it for me a long time ago, but cant seem to find it now. But I would like to try my hand at my own, and I've managed to do so, but, my app has to be in focus for it to work. is there any way to still detect when these media keys are pressed while my app is out of focus?

View 1 RepliesI can't seem to get the Form.GotFocus event to fire.I have two forms - a main window and a debug window.The debug window will always be shown with the main window. But, I don't want the debug window to appear in the task bar - it's unnecessary.While my program is running, when I select another program, my main window and the debug window are placed behind the program that I selected. From the task bar, I can bring my program back to the front by clicking on it in the task bar. The problem is, that now my debug window is behind the other program.I have code that will "DebugWindow.BringToFront", and it works. But I need some way to run do this when the main form gets the focus.I do not wish to make any of my forms Modal. At least not permanently. If the solution is to change the modal property of the form temporarily, then that wouldn't be a problem.
I tried Me.Enter, Me.Activated, Me.Click and a few other events. Me.Click only works when I click within the Form window, not the form's title bar. Me.Activated caused problems - The code ran, but it would always end with the focus on the Debug window. When I tried to click on the main form, the Activated event would fire again, sending the focus back to the debug window.[code]

Edit: The way I added the event handler was by double-clicking on the combo box on the designer. Skeleton code then came up in the code view.It looks like what's happening is when the form loads, SelectedIndexChanged gets fired each time an item is added to myCombo.This isn't what I want, but I'm thinking there's another event handler that only gets called when the user changes the selection.
Here's some code for what I have:

View 5 RepliesMy main form is a tabbed control with 2 tabs. The first tab is has two listview controls which display information about the current machine. The second tab contains a treeview control and two listview controls. This tab recreates the device manager in windows. I created a Machine class to gather the information about the machine that I want to display to the user. When I call the Display() Method from my form's load event everything appears to be fine the first tab's information is displayed in the listview controls.
Here's the kicker, when I click to the device manager tab there's nothing there. The LoadTree() procedure never fires. This code works, I've seen my device tree display a thousand times in the past. When I comment out the call to Machine.Display() my device tree reappears no problem. The code compiles fine no errors. I know the problem has to be in my Machine class but I have no idea what could cause this kind of response. I've never seen a program compile clean and then refuse to fire a procedure call but not produce some kind of runtime error.
I have a form with over 100 textboxes that are set in multiple groupboxes and that number grows as I continue working. I am trying to get an event to fire if there is a keydown on any one of the textboxes. other than individually adding all 100 textboxes to the handler, is there a way for me to create a single event that handles all textbox.keydown events on the form?

I have to make a modal form for my main form, so I used frmCompany.showDialog(me) method.This frmCompany shows a msgbox to ask if user has to continue without entering the phone. User may press yes to proceed with saving the record or no to get back to the form. But if no is pressed frmCompany closes along with the msgbox.

I have mdi application, on main form which is mdi container and has a tree view. i open the child form on afterselect even of treeview. the issue i'm facing that i open the form but focus remain on tree view until i click on the the form. my question is how i can give focus to form rather it stays on treeview. i tried frm.focus also activatemdichild(frm) no sucess.
