Fire An Event On Listview > Columnheader > Mouse Move?

Jun 23, 2011

Does anyone have a trick to catch when the mouse is over a listview column header ? As you know there is no native handler that would fire such event...

I have build a small routine that will be able to tell over which column the mouse actually is, the problem remains in which event to put it..

VS 2008 : Fire Mouse_enter Event With Mouse Already Down?

I need to fire an event when the mouse enters a panel with the mouse button already down. It seems the standard mouse enter, mouse move, etc events don't fire when the mouse is already down. With test code i'm using, all of the events fire when the mouse button is up, none fire when the mouse button is down.

edit...here is my test code..

Private Sub Panel1_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Panel1.MouseDown

VS 2008 Picture Box Mouse Move Event

May 25, 2011

In my project's Main form I have a picture box of size 1024*1024 which occupies almost 75% of my monitor screen. Now I have defined Picture box Mouse movement event with corresponding actions to be done for mouse mouse event over picture box. Now the problem is I have another button on my main form by pressing which an another form of size 520*170 pops up. I have set Me.Topmost property to this form. But even then if by I hover the mouse over picture box, this pop up form disappears (i.e. goes to back screen) and if at all i have to perform any action on this form I need click the Tab of the popped window on the task bar which makes this form visible. Worst case is if the user drags this form on top of the picture box and looses focus, then its impossible to get it(focus) back.

Mouse-move Event Handler For Portion Of A Form?

Apr 16, 2011

I have a Windows form in VS2010 with a rectangular area that I draw in with Graphics.DrawImage for best performance. I want to create a Mouse-move event handler just for that area (to change the cursor when the mouse is inside it), along the lines of handlers for the other controls on the form. But since the rectangle isn't a PictureBox or Panel or other control, I don't see an obvious way to handle it. A mouse-move event handler for the entire form could affect the performance of the app.

Add & Remove Listview ColumnHeader Sort Indicator?

Oct 15, 2009

I'm using VB 2008 and windows vista. I'm using a listview in my application.(view=details) I assign an image list to listview.smallimagelist. when user try to sort the listview by clicking the column header i use the imageindex property to set an icon for that column header, this works fine. When user clicks another column to sort the listview by that, I use listview.columns(PreviousColumnIndex).imageindex=-1 to remove the sort order icon from the previously selected columnheader, but it does not remove the picture from the previous columnheader. How should I remove the icon(picture) from the previous column header?

VS 2008 Listview ColumnHeader Sort Indicator?

Jun 21, 2011

After a long time searching, I am still facing an issue with my listview column header I am trying to add a sort indicator (a small 16x16 arrow, next to the column title - looks quite good).

- My listview is in Ownerdraw mode for : Items & Subitems for a couple of reasons

- So far, I was letting the system do the job for the header (e.drawdefault = true)

I managed to add very easily the arrow using the e.graphics class, right after the e.drawdefault=true, and it is actually working good.

print01.gif
(Sub ColumnHeader OwnerDraw)
e.DrawDefault = True
e.Graphics.DrawImage(My.Resources.fleche_v2_16x16, 34, 2, 16, 16)

As you can see, I'm simply using a resource, and am forcing it to 16x16 with a custom location x=34 pixels y=2pixels My issue comes with the following :

(Sub ColumnHeader OwnerDraw)
e.DrawDefault = True
e.Graphics.DrawImage(My.Resources.fleche_v2_16x16, (e.Bounds.X + 34), 2, 16, 16)

The arrow wont draw Of course the sort indicator will sometime be on the 2nd column etc.. That's why I need to use the column header's bounds.I can already hear you saying : if you do not owner draw, you can't..But why is it working with a static location (, 34, 2, 16, 16) ans not starting from another static location (e.bounds.x) How can I fix that ? I cant find previous issues similar to that one over the internet.

Points of interest :

- I tryed to load the int value e.bounds.x into a variable before, using that instead of e.bounds.x but it's all the same.

- Using the imagelist is not an option, As you can tell from the screenshot, I am already using images for headers.. the sort indicator is coming as another image

- Using ">" or "<" in the header's text is not an option either........ (sorry pal It does not look good at all..)

- Drawing the header totally in owner draw mode would be an option, but it looks quite hard to do (need to manage the "rounded" header style of the system, the mouse over - small yellow line rounded on the sides in WinXp, the click effect....).

Apologies as this has probably been answered a million different times a million different ways already. I'm trying to control the mouse. VS 2010 Any Tips Or Techniques For Debugging In Mouse Move Events / When Mouse Button Is Down / Has To Stay That Way?

Jun 6, 2011

I'm currently debugging a form that sets a flag when the mouse button is pressed, then clears the flag when the mouse button is released. As long as the mouse button is pressed, the user can move the mouse around and a few things happen depending on where they move. One of the things that happens is that a timer starts, or stops, and a few things change color depending on the mouse position. The timer starts when it should, then stops when it should, but once stopped, it is not re-starting when it should. I can verify that MouseMove events are getting through, because coloring changes as I move the mouse, as it should. This would be a simple thing to debug...except that it requires the darn mouse button to be down, and it uses the mouse move event. Anybody who has put a breakpoint in a mouse move event handler knows the issue: There are THOUSANDS of them. Worse yet, since the mouse button is necessary for switching to the IDE, as well as setting a breakpoint (technically, a keyboard shortcut could do this if I could shift focus), I can't wait for the problem to happen, then switch to the IDE and set a breakpoint to see what is happening then.Does anybody have any tips or techniques for debugging in mouse move events when the mouse button is down and has to stay that way? As it is, I'm going to have to write some funky code into the method just so that I have a place to get a breakpoint when I need it without breaking on every one of the mouse move events.

VS 2008 - Move Mouse To Color - Freeze Mouse At Point

When the "STOP PROCESSING" button is clicked the first time, the program simply ignores it. When I click it the SECOND time, it gets control. I know this because I put a breakpoint in at the start of the subroutine. What could I possibly be doing to quash the firing the first time?

Mouse Movements To Fast To Fire Events Accurately?

Jul 8, 2011

I'm working on a custom scroll bar. When dragging the slider, things work smoothing with what I have... that is if the users movements are smooth and slow-ish. When moving quickly the mouse move event doesn't seem to fire as accurately as I had hoped.. I attempted using the up and down buttons enter event for re positioning or "resetting" the slider whenragging is activated but still those events don't even fire when the mouse move event is firing. So I believe I hit a barrier of my .Net knowledge and hope someone here knows a way around this little issue.
