I started making an application that would perform matrix multiplication. For that I need to take in the matrix data(row, column, elements). I've asked the user about number of rows and columns in a form. I then send him to another form which will contain row*column number of textboxes used to enter the elements. After reading a bit about the TextBox Class I used the following code to create the variable number of textboxes.[code]How do I get the data that the user enters into these boxes ? Using the usual textbox.text gives me a build error.
View 6 RepliesI have written a little helper app that mostly does various text operations on a paragraph of text. I am able to select a block of text from the Code Window and drop it onto my VB.NET apps TextBox and complete the text operation. However I am unable to drag and drop the altered text back to the VB Code window Via the DoDragDrop method.
If e.Button = MouseButtons.Left Then
Dim d As New DataObject
d.SetText(Me.TextBox3.Text)
Me.TextBox3.DoDragDrop(d, DragDropEffects.Move)
End If
I have the following sub in a windows form:

This performs an update in the SQL Database via a stored procedure. When I add '; insert into codeinjection(test) values ('CodeInjected!'); select ' in the last textbox (TBC_phone.Text) the value 'codeinjdected' is inserted into the table codeinjection as well. How can I avoid this?

View 3 RepliesI have a form where a number of textboxes are programmatically created within a flowLayoutPanel and named by adding together 2 strings.
With the click of another button i hope to have all the values entered into these text boxes stored in a text file. However, i cant seem to find a way to add strings together to allow me to retrieve the values entered within the text boxes created.
Below is the code i have so far: BTW FLP is my flow layout panel and c is my calculated nmber of textboxes that are created.

I am trying to write code with multiple forms. The first screen is splash screen then is supposed to close and have a calculations screen. In the timer of the splash screen I wrote the following code
Option Explicit On
Option Strict On
Public Class uiHinsbrookSplashScreen

This opens the second screen, but when I Hit Exit on the Second Screen The first screen is still open. What do I need to do next?
I recently found this code (provided for third party use on another VB site), however,ll of my attempts to insert it into a class library have failed.I open a new class library and past the code in, and immediately get several errors pertaining to how certain objects can't be found. I find it it is crucial to use this code, unless someone can suggest to me another example of existing code that will do the same thing: make a restricted textbox who imputs can be restricted, that can handle pasting, shortcuts, text property setting, and script-entered text.
Option Strict On
Imports System.ComponentModel
Public Class RestrictedTextBox

I'm using ASP.net 4.0 VB,I am using a session variable to add a user entered code into the url of each page. I can get the code to show up at the end of the page's URL that my textbox is on, but what do I add to every page to make sure that the session stays at the end of every URL that person visits during their session? This is the code from the page that the user enters their user code.
Protected Sub IBTextBoxButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles IBTextBoxButton.Click
Session("IB") = IBTextBox.Text
Dim IB As String = Session("IB")
End Sub
[code]....
This is what I have in the page load of one of the other pages. What else do I add to make sure that variable is added to the URL of that page?
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim IB As String
IB = Session("IB")
End Sub

If I have a large number of classes, each similar to the other in certain aspects (they all share a common base class, but each does things differently), and I need to create Windows forms for each to allow easy changing of their values through a GUI? Create one matching form for each object in VS' forms designer, Or Use code to create the forms dynamically at runtime.
#2 makes the most sense to me, because a lot of these objects will share very common features of the form, notably "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons. But one object might need to draw a textbox on the form while another might need to draw a combobox. Not to mention, if I want to put icons on the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons, I'd have to do this for each copy of the form in designer, and that sounds like it could get out of hand quickly. But is drawing forms through code sane? VS' forms designer is pretty sophisticated and designed to make life easier. Am I wise to consider ignoring its functionality and diving into the trench warfare of forms design through code? Or are there examples of automating form creation based on an existing object's properties?
I have a textbox on form1, how can i get that textbox to display the same information on form2 automatically?

Right now I have the users entering dates manually, and I would like to have a small image that they click to bring up a calender, select the date which will then be automatically entered into a textbox. The calender must be able to go back in time as well as forward.
Im fairly new to VB but have experiance in Java. Would somebody be able to either provide me with the code or at least a walkthrough how do it.

Ok, ive had a brief look round and can't find the answer to this question. I've also been browsing the internet for what feels like a life time in order to find this answer but i've had no success so far and its driving me up the wall. What i'm doing is a very simple (or so i thought) project for my local Pool Team. I haven't hOk, the bit im struggling with is: I'm trying to make text files for each player. With the text file being called Player 1, player 2 etc etc, and the first line inside the txt file to be their name., I'm getting the "player 1", "Player 2" part, but the first line is constantly coming up with "textbx_1" instead of whats inside the Text box.

View 3 RepliesMy question is the last code tag section above where the parameters are set for the input. If on the form there is a textbox that is required (on the db side to not allow nulls) how would you perform the validation before you tried to execute the update sql?Ex: say 'SerialNumberTextbox.Text' was empty or if you needed to have character constraints on what was typed like varchar(15) and they have 16 or more characters
