But what happened with VS 2008, I can't see that region any more ? Where are the lines of code that are automatically generated that create controls and set there properties ????? View 3 RepliesI am trying to write code with multiple forms. The first screen is splash screen then is supposed to close and have a calculations screen. In the timer of the splash screen I wrote the following code

This opens the second screen, but when I Hit Exit on the Second Screen The first screen is still open. What do I need to do next?
Does calling the Dispose method on a Windows.Forms.Timer call it's Stop method? Or should I stop the timer before I dispose it?

If it is, then leave it.My idea originally was to use the process name as a filter. But the problem is that the process for application A is javaw.exe. Application A, belongs to a toolset, which has other windows applications, which have the same process name, javaw.exe.I already know that one of windows which has a javaw.exe process has "Edit"..in its title bar. So my algorithm to filter for app A is:
1. GetAllExistingOpenWindows
2. For each window in AllExistingOpenWindows
3. if window.processname=="javaw.exe" then

I am editing an application that was developed using VB .NET. The form has a button, I see it in the code but it is not visible in the Form. Also, when I place a new button, it comes as Button2 meaning there is a Button1 - I am not sure how to find where it is and place it at the right place.
View 2 RepliesIf I have a large number of classes, each similar to the other in certain aspects (they all share a common base class, but each does things differently), and I need to create Windows forms for each to allow easy changing of their values through a GUI? Create one matching form for each object in VS' forms designer, Or Use code to create the forms dynamically at runtime.
#2 makes the most sense to me, because a lot of these objects will share very common features of the form, notably "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons. But one object might need to draw a textbox on the form while another might need to draw a combobox. Not to mention, if I want to put icons on the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons, I'd have to do this for each copy of the form in designer, and that sounds like it could get out of hand quickly.But is drawing forms through code sane? VS' forms designer is pretty sophisticated and designed to make life easier. Am I wise to consider ignoring its functionality and diving into the trench warfare of forms design through code? Or are there examples of automating form creation based on an existing object's properties?
Not sure what I am doing wrong here but I have 2 buttons and a rich text box. The issue is when I click the second button to add text to the rich text box and it over writes the current text that is already in the rich text box. How can I code this second button so that the text is added to the rich text box and not replacing the current text?

i have a problem with trying to get 2 forms to close at different times using a timer on each of the 2 forms.
This is my form layout:

It counts down to 0 and then does a .close(). However, if i pause between clicking the second button they both seem to always disappears at the same time.I would do something like this...

wait about 10 secs...Click on the second button (showing the Frm2 form)they both are shown on screen...hen they both disappear at the same time.... which shouldn't happen since i clicked the Frm2 box 10 seconds AFTER Frm1... So Frm1 should hide before Frm2 does...but it does not.

I have written a program and have used it (in debug mode) multiple times to test it out sometimes adding code and/or changing it. After a while any code I wrote or new buttons or features I added to the form would not appear while debugging. I don't know what circumstances led to this.
The only solution I found was to rewrite my code from scratch, however, the problem came back after a while. I don't know what is going on and I can't move on without starting all over again.
I have an Excel template that contains numerous pre-defined charts and a program that opens this template and collects data used to populate the charts. This works great but I now want to adjust the series length so that the charts only used the data collected (not a range of 32000). I'm trying to iterate through the charts and determine the range for each series of each chart but not having much luck. The snippet below allows me to see the xvalues but does not return any information as to where this data is located. Does anyone know how to extract the range for each series in a chart?

I'm quite new at this but I'm trying to change the look of a tab control other than the options provided in the control's properties. In short I want to create a large tab that will fit a picture but I don't know how to change the size of the tab. I also want to make the control look somewhat different than what the control provided with VS.NET looks like.
What I need to know is how to create a custom control that operates the same as tabcontrol but looks different than the traditional control provided with VS. I tried looking up how to create a custom control but all I could find was how to create one programatically and I don't know how it would apply to a tab control. Maybe the only way to do it is programmatically but I would rather play with the control in the designer than having it appear only at runtime.
In form frmAddPlayers I declare and create an array of pictureboxes in the Load event using the code:

In the watch window the value of the pictureboxes is System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox. Later in the load event I start a background worker in form sfrmUSBDevice using the code:
sfrmUSBDevice.sReadWriteThread.RunWorkerAsync()
The background worker waits for user input and then calls a subroutine from form frmAddPlayers. The subroutine changes the image in the picturebox to indicate that the user input has taken place. However when the debugger returns from sfrmUSBDevice to frmAddPlayers the watch window shows that all of the pictureboxes have a value of nothing. Then when I try to change the image of the picturebox I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" exception. It seems like when the debugger goes to the sfrmUSBDevice form and comes back to frmAddPlayers the objects on frmAddPlayers have lost their information.
I need to create a timer that sets the time from an existing text file. The time format in the text file is 00:00:00 (hours,minutes, seconds). An excerpt from one of my text files looks like ClockSet = "00:49:05"
Also, if possible, when the timer reaches 2 minutes I would like the backcolor to flash between red and green.
I'm trying to change a forms title at runtime where it = my textbox's text. But I can't even get it to change to "test". When I try to google it, it comes up with vb6's
.caption = "test".
When I try to search it on the forum, it gives me a error message saying:
"Error 502 Bad gateway"
Currently my program randomly removes words from a set of text and inserts textboxes below the text. The user can then enter his/her answers in the new textboxes. What I would like to do is set the program so the user can have two choices one being Easy and other being Advanced. Then when the user hits either button it brings up everything that is currently on the form. I'd prefer to do this without having to use MDI forms. I've had a hard time using the MDI forms and therefore would like to avoid using them. They way I was thinking this could work is all objects would remain invisible except for the 2 buttons and then when you hit one of them they disappear and everything else appears.

On my program I would like a track bar to change the Opacity of certain forms. There is a checked list box so if the user checked the main form and some other forms, boxes and used the track bar to change the Opacity of those forms. If the user uses the track bar and goes right it will increase the Opacity and to the left decreases the Opacity. Then when the user is all done He/She will press the Apply button to apply the changes of the Main Form or Forms.

The one on top is set up as Render Mode=System while the other image is set up as Render Mode= ManagerRenderMode
Both applications were developed in VB using VS2005.
Each one has its MDI container and their MainMenuStrip set up..
What property/reason would be causing this? I just created a test program simulating the same case (MDI container with child forms) and everytime i maximized the control boxes appear in the correct position.
