View 3 RepliesI have a login form (startup form) with OK/Cancel button, and each set on the form as Accept/Cancel button - works fine.
After login my main form loads, it has keypreview on. This main form opens a new form (after user clicks a client search button) with an OK/Cancel set up the same as the login form.
On this search form, the Enter key works (it calls the OKbutton click just fine), but the Esc key does not.
The cancelbutton property if set to the cancel button, and this form does not use keypreview.
The form has focus, I clicked it to be sure, but in any case the enter key works.
I have a form on which the user selects a file using an openFileDialog. The selected filepath is then processed, which may take 10-20 seconds before the user is presented with the results.I'm finding that the once the user selects the file (clicking the OK button on the openFileDialog), the openFileDialog remains open until all of the processing going on in the background is completed. Once the processing has finished the openFileDialog disappears and the results are shown.The problem is that whilst the openFileDialog remains open on screen, it is not apparent to the user that anything is happening in the background. I do actually have a textbox which updates the user with messages showing the progress. However the openFileDialog hides the messages until it closes, essentially making the progress messages useless.What I'm trying to do is have the openFileDialog close immediately that the user selects a file. Then the processing can continue without the openFileDialog obscuring my form.
View 5 RepliesI have a popup aspx page that receives data from a parent page gridview Edit click. There is a great deal of parsing of data from parent page to pop up as the data is being translated in pop up, then sent back to parent page to be reassembled in the original text block before update.
When the popup passes the data back or is canceled, the parent page gridview is still in Edit mode.I would like to pass the Cancel or Update button click from the popup to the parent page gridview so it can complete the update or cancel event without asking the user to click the corresponding command button link from the gridview edit mode, to Update or Cancel.
UPDATE: There is also a jquery UIBlocker on the Parent page to prevent the user from returning to the page until the PopUp page processing has been completed. Below is the critical code:

Had a problem with preventing the popup from reloading. So there is an if condition in the load event. A dynamic number of controls are built on the popup as literals. So the Page Init event and Page Load event fire on non Postback to rebuild the controls.
How can the button text of an OpenFileDialog be changed in the cleanest possible manner?
I've looked around and so far none of the solultions are all that simple and all require some fiddling with handles and things.

I have a vb.net application that uses Flash movies (AxShockwaveFlashObjects.AxShockwaveFlash). I have buttons in the flash movie. When they first start using the application, they can single click on the buttons in the flash movie and button responds accordingly. But after a while (and I haven't been able to pin-point an exact thing that changes it or my issue would be solved), the user has to double-click on the button in the flash movie for them to work.
View 2 RepliesI have a button on my form where I'm showing a ContextMenu when the user left clicks on it, I'm actually using MouseUp right now to show it.What I would like to have happen is the user click on the button, the button stays pressed while the ContextMenu shows, it returns to normal when the ContextMenu closes (Either a menu item was selected, the user hits the escape key or they click/tab to somewhere else). Also I'd like to position the ContextMenu in the lower left corner if the menu opens down or the top left corner if it opens up. So the left edge of the ContextMenu is flush with the left edge of the button.Moreso the button staying pressed until the ContextMenu is closed.
Edit: I'm also ok with this being it's own control inheriting the FW's Button that used the assigned ContextMenu as well.
I believe there wont be any diff if user clicks the button on the form and the click event is fired OR if we call the button click event / function in the code. Because in one my project, this does make diff. If I click the button on the form, the App works great but same button if I click it thru the form code, the whole process crashes. This happens in Vista / VB.net.

Is there a way to prevent the Enter key from being interpreted as a button click.
I am trapping key strokes at the form level but if a button has the focus and the ENTER key is pressed I cannot trap the enter because the button consumes it as a button click event. I am also unable to trap the enter key in any of the button's key events.
I am interfacing with magtripe swipe and barcode readers that send their information as keystrokes with a CRLF at the end. I have a work around by chaning the focus to a textbox anytime keystrokes are detected but I am hoping for better control.
Is there a way to disable the buttons ability to do this?
Is it possible to have multiple click events for a button based on the button text? In other words, if I change the button text can i create a new click event based on that text but use the same button?
for example:
button1.text starts as "steel"
button2.text starts as "brass"
If I click button1 then the text would change to:
button1.text="Stainless"
button2.text="Cold rolled"
If I click button1 again a string would then be added to a textbox and the process would start over again. can I have a different click event or would I need to put an If/Then or Select/Case in the sub to handle this? I have 10 buttons I would need to do this with and each needing at least 3 different choices for each depending on the previous button press.
I have two forms in my project, Form1 and Form2. In Form1 there is one TextBox called Text1, and in the Form2 there is TextBox called Text2. I have one button in Form1, called Button1. When I click on Button1 I want that Form2 open and in Text2 is text from Text1.
