I have run this application under WinXP and previous Windows operating system fine, but when I installed my application on Windows Vista I get the above error at run-time.
how I could resolve this error as I believe it is not a programming error as the app works on other Windows OS's fine. Could it be something to do with registering dll's etc.

View 5 RepliesI have a UserControl with a Panel (Panel1). The UserControl has a property Items (type ControlCollection) that returns the Controls collection of Panel1.Via a custom CollectionEditor, I tell the designer that it should add my custom controls called Item (inheriting Control). For the sake of example, the Item control is just a control with a random background color:[code]The custom CollectionEditor creates new Item controls using the DesignerHost service (and its CreateComponent method), so that they appear as actual components in Panel1, selectable during design-time just like any other control.It might be a little hard to see (because the colored Items are docked to the top), but I have selected the red item, which can also be seen from the Properties list.
As you can see in the code, I attach a Click event handler to each item as it is added to Panel1. When clicked, a MessageBox shows the color of the item. Obviously this is just for the sake of this example, but the point is that I need to be able to click an item and something then needs to happen.This works fine during run-time. I can click each item, and the MessageBox shows.The problem is that it does not work (quite obviously) during design-time. When I click it during design-time, it is simply selected (as any other control) and of course does not register any Click (nor MouseClick) events.But, I need the Click event to fire even when in design-time! Clicking an item corresponds to selecting it, and when selected (even in design-time), some other panel (not shown in this example) should be brought to the front so it gets visible. Now, I have created lots of things very similar to this (clicking an item during design-time), but there has always been one major difference: those items were not actual controls on the form. Instead, they were drawn manually on to their parent (and they only looked like separate controls). Obviously there was no design-time support for those 'items' (as they weren't controls), but I could handle clicking them quite easily: by handling the MouseClick event of the parent, I can check the location and see if it falls within an item. If so, that item was 'clicked' (artificially).This time, the items are actual controls, and this method does not work (the parent does not receive a MouseClick event either).So, does anyone know of any way to do this? The only way I can think of right now (although I have no idea how to implement it) is to somehow 'listen' to changes in the designer selection.
I have alot of forms here who need 10 or more seconds to load when the method InitializeComponent() starts to run. It have a lot of pics for that is too slow to load. I need to do a loading screen to show while the initializeComponent() components is running.

I have this code and I hope that this is correct. I build a dll component from the class file that contains this code and I am trying to use it as a reference in windows forms application. I have allready made this forms application and added the ddl to the reference but I do not know how to use it in there. I would like to activate (insert value 1) inputA & inputB using checkbox and that the outputQ is displayed in textbox (1 or 0). Do I have to use a vb interface to do this? And how can I use this code as dll component in the forms application?

I am trying to create what I am sure is a simple program to add hours to convert UTC time. I want to type in a UTC time and have it convert for every state in Australia. [Code] Now that works fine however when the conversion goes past "midnight" it then shows the date and time. I have tried about 50 different things but cannot get it to remove the date when the converted time passes midnight. [Code] The string was not recognized as a valid DateTime. There is an unknown word starting at index 18.
View 8 RepliesI have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. In the form load to "Initialise" the NotifyIcon it then works fine when made visibleinvisible by code in the OnRegChanged event.
I create an app, with it when I click a button it opens a new form on a second monitor.
This works perfectly, but every first time the app start and I open the second form, on my primary screen (right side) I see the border of the second form. When I click the button again, the form is hidden, and when I click it again, it appears again but then the border is gone.

I am aware that if you wish to run a program at a specific time, the best way is to add it to the windows task scheduler. I have a forms application that accepts as input a text file and some button selections before the actual main runs.
Can this kind of program be scheduled? I realize I would have to hard code the inputs but does .net have any features to access the task scheduler?
I have an app that relies on a database. Basically, users are checking in and checking out items and the database keeps track of all that.My boss wants a notification system to email us when a item is overdue. I already have most of this figured out.I was able to create a service and have it read registry values that the app sets and then it reads the check outdate from the database. If it's overdue, an email is sent out.
But, I've only done testing for 10 seconds at a time. I'm currently using a System.Threading.Timer to run every 10 seconds. That was only a test, it won't actually be that way.Instead, I want the task to run once every day. I was thinking to just have it run every hour, but if it runs every hour, then we'll be constantly bombarded by emails when an item is overdue. And sending it every "x" hours brings it's own issues and isn't ideal.Normally, I'd run a task via the Windows Task Scheduler, but the app has to read the database. I guess I could create a separate app and launch it via the task scheduler, have it complete the tasks and then close when done.
