I don't recall having this problem in C#, but if I want initialize a readonly collection of DerivedControlFoo Is there a clean way to do it besides creating a sub to do it all off somewhere else? I'd love to be able to do it at the class level at the declaration for readability and simplicity.

I require a "Indicator Control" i.e. I need to display a "multi coloured indicator" with each colour representing a certain condition. Basically "I want to build" a multi colored LED on a Form. I have a fairly straight forward peice of code that just tries to set the default saved directory for a standard .net save dialogue to a specific folder. If that folder doesn't exist, it sets it to the desktop. This works fine for everyone but one user who is getting the following error: Could not find special directory 'Desktop' How is that even possible?

I have a label in my form which displays the text-content stored in a text file. However it is not able to display special characters like ", ', : etc. Instead it just puts a small rectangular box (same size as that of the text).
How do I get them to display these characters? Should I not use text files in this case or do I have to turn on some control-properties?

I'm looking to create a simple program with 1 text field, 1 button, and an area to display what is happening and if there were any errors.My goal is to be able to delete user profiles stored on a network drive by simply putting in the users ID and hitting the button.I'll use my own id as an example:If I put mdesieno in the txt box and hit the button, I'll need the button to map to the network drive and delete mdesieno.corp and mdesieno.v2 I would like the bottom half of the window to display text like:
"Deleting User Profile mdesieno.corp" SUCCESSFUL
"Deleting User profile mdesieno.V2" SUCCESSFUL
To me this seems pretty simple, but as I said, I do not know VB yet. Is there code out there that is already written to do something like this?
I am doing an application in VB.NET 2005, I have created one ASP.NET Web Application. And I want to do a form with two buttons: browser and upload, and with one textbox. The idea is the next, I have to do click in browser and look for my document and later upload de document. I don't know if VB has a special button to browser or something like this.

So when user clicks on the button a new window should appear which should have explanations on how to use my program , and some additional notes.
Now the problem is i have no idea even how to search for what i need.I know i can make a popup like MsgBox("write everything here") but is there a better way to do it because my "popup" should have a lot of text?
I retired recently from a job where we had VS2010 Professional for doing ourdevelopment. Now that I'm retired I can't afford "Pro" and cannot find the component than looks like this (see above). Is/was that component left out of the "Express" version? Do I have to "load" it (and, if so, what name should I look for)? This files created can not be modified by users or deleted.So the only way I thought is to generate this files with elevated privileges so a normal user can't delete or modify them.But the question is how can I generate a file with this privileges that normal users can interact with this files... only download from server.I use this code to generate the file... I create special character by Windows XP Operating System Program Start/Run/eudcedit But, i can't reduce width of charater Ex: I create number 2 in string H2O but 2 is subscript then width of "2" is short, and i can't make "2" character shorter.
