Setting/Reading Specific Values Of A Richtextbox Line To An Array
Dec 7, 2009I have a button which reads a comma separated value file and loads it into a richtextbox. Each line contains comma separated chars.
Once the file is loaded in the richtextbox, i want to be able to select specific values from each line and store them into an array.
For example:
Line1: a,b,c,d,e
I want to be able to place only the values "b" and "c" into an array.
I was thinking something like creating a menu for the richtextbox which will be triggered on right click, then highlight the values I want, press right click and select 'place these values in an array'.
it doesn't have to be the way i proposed it, but it definitely must use a richtextbox.

Parse - App - User Copy And Pastes From A Website Into A Richtextbox - Getting Name, Phone Number And That Last Value In The Line
Mar 9, 2012I'm working on an app in which the user copy and pastes from a website into a richtextbox then the program uses the phone number, name and "match by string" from the richtexbox. What is copied is like an Excel table type thing but all the data is in Column "A". The data isn't tab deliminated. If i split on spaces then that will give incorrect results since some of the pieces of data have spaces in them. It looks like I'm about to do some really nasty ugly coding to get to the values I need. take a look at this snippet of data and tell me of a graceful way of getting the name, phone number and that last value in the line if such coding exists? This is the info I would need to pickup on in the first row of data. SHEKITA LLOYD, (xxx) 956-80, and Non-Payment of premium.

Word Wrapping - Cannot Select Last Line Of Richtextbox (when A Line Is Wrapped It Becomes Two Lines)
Jul 5, 2009The following code selects a line ina richtextbox. It works OK expect from one problem:
When a line is biger than the size of the richtextbox, it wraps it. This create a big problem as I can not select the last line of the richtextbox (when a line is wrapped it becomes two lines). When I set wordwrap to off it works just fine

May 2, 2009I'm importing a text file of 42 lines, each containing 11 segments to be read. This is then split and put in an array. This is all displayed in TextBox1 for check purposes only.Next I'd like to search the array(0) of each line, and when the searched for text (search) is found, take the (1) (2) etc of that line to store in another variable which will be used for calculations later on in the program.I'll admit my head is now a Do Until = Crazy ! Jan 1, 2011Say I've got a variable that contains multiple words, each one separated by a newline. What I'm trying to do is add specific text to the end of each line in that variable.
For example, say the variable contains...
alpha
bravo
charlie
etc
etc.
And say the text I want to append is "newtext"
So then I'd like the output to look like...
alpha newtext
bravo newtext
charlie newtext
etc
etc
What I tried to do is to split that variable into an array (separated by newline), and then use a For Each to append the newtext to each line in the array. But it's obvious I haven't messed around with VB in a long time, as something is wrong with my logic. Here's what I've got...

I'm using text files as an array to store and remove information, however I do not know know how to adapt this code so the line I search for is removed.
My text files are set up as such:
021,Donovan,56 Eynesford Crescent,Bexleyheath,CT5 1TR,09/08/1967,13 March 2012,Bronze
062,Fredrikson,6 Freil Road,Gravesend,CT9 1RB,12/06/1995,13 March 2012,Silver
So I can search and locate the ID, in these cases 021 or 062, but I want to be able to remove the line I want, once it's been found.
