I'm trying to create a simple Data Grid that will automatically save changes. So far I have a data grid connected to a MS Access 2007 Database that reads the data. I can create new fields in the Data Grid, but I need to program to save the data automatically to the database on update (or on close).

I have an access database that has columns where the data is a tickbox, i would like to select all the ticks from one row. Erm i'll try and be more descriptive: The database has the family of aircraft in the first column and then each subsequent column is to do with a calculation and i want to assign boolean variables the value of true if the tick box is checked and false if it isnt. How can i assign the values of the tick box to a variable?

Both ExecuteNonQuery() actions yields the exception message {"Syntax error in field definition."}The error message does not happen with the first if the boolean column is not there (I tried Tes/No as a definition - but that also failed.The second query to modify the ID column from autonumber to integer I assume fails because it is a Primary KeyHas?

i was working a program that has two forms. first form1 has a datagridview for viewing. with a button ADD and SAVE and disregardchanges.then when i click add another form2 with textboxes to input data. with buttons ADDTODATA, ADDANOTHER and CLOSE when i click ADDTODATA the data will add to datagridview in form 1 and when i click ADDANOTHER i also input another add ADD to datagridview to view.and when i get back to form 1 i have a choice if i will SAVE ot DISREGARDCHANGES. if i click save all data will save.

but nothing changes. it seems that my connection is close when i close form2. how can i make my connection still open when i close form two or any code that will substitute with my code. im a student and this is for my project.
In my project the "teacher" must enter grades in the Grades database then save it and click the Semester Average button(btnSA)to display the grades in the database. Well I can't the the data to save. After I completely fill in the grades and click the save button in my tool strip I get the following error "OleDbException was unhandled: Command text was not set for the command object"

So I'm a beginner and I'm guessing this has been asked before, but can anyone tell me how to save multiple inputs from textboxes and radio buttons etc. as one whole umm... thing in a STANDALONE form. I don't want any extra CFG or INI files etc. Kind of like how a new profile in a game would work. I've seen used the datagridview to save the changes.
I don't use a dgv, but rather I connect directly to access and when a text field has text in it, it takes that text and searches, and updates various text boxes with the according information (finds a row, and takes all the data in the columns and adds it into their respective box). There are approximately 5-7 text boxes being used at the same time, and only a few will be changed.
How would I go about updating and saving through the VB program?

FORM1 - major form
FORM2 - calculation form ( there are few forms like this)
FORM3 - result form
What I need is:When I open FORM2 and get results I push the botton SEND and then it should send the values into FORM3 I don't know if the public variable will be good here because they are not constant , I can get different results in FORM2 ,and these results should be writen in textboxes only after I push send bottom.

I enter the data, save and close the form and re-open the record and it is not there. Previously I have been able to save all data using the form and have not altered the form.

I am currently working on a vb project. What I am trying to do is reading a XML file and saving all the data in to the Access DB. Once this is done, I read the data from the access Db and display it in the required fields in VB form. Issue is, when i store the value in the access, a weird character is assigned before and after the data. The character is a square box with question mark in it. I'm struggling to work with data in VB 2008, and find it extremely complicated! At first I couldn't even get a database to load, as VB 2008 kept complaining it was created with an older Jet engine.OK, I converted it to a newer Access format that VB 2008 finally accepted.
In trying to find out why changes weren't saved, I found a common problem was VB 2008 wiping out changes.OK I have told the compiler not to copy the older database file back over but to copy newer.Updates then supposedly happened --- no errors were reported --- but the changes were still not saved.It appears the update method didn't exist in the datatableadapter, but I got no error messages about that.
No update done.
I've used the tools to configure the dataset and datatableadapter.Automatic generation of methods like update, add new, delete, etc. were supposedly done.Now, when trapping the error, I'm told the update method isn't a valid one.I found little information on that. It suggested primary keys could be a cause, but adding or deleting a primary key has no effect.I can see the fill method, and it works fine.I can't see the update method. (Apparently it is in SQL which I don't know anyway.)
