I am using thprocedure "UpdateDatabaseBySQL"to save data in to my MS Access table using VS 2010. The problem is, sometimes when I retreive the values from the database, they are blank. But my save procedure worked well. If I pause the app for 10 seconds and query,everything works. So what I did was add System.Threading.

When reading from a network stream using the following [code] I tend to get the data in two or more chunks, unless I specify a delay after each buffer read (which is hardly desirable). It is usually a problem with 4k+ buffers written (in one large chunk and 'flushed') to the networkstream and read in smaller chunks (of say 1k).This is seriously problematic for the rest of the code, since the information is broken up in bits and not properly handled.Is there a way to ensure that all data available is 'captured' without using unrealisticly large buffers or using delays?

View 6 RepliesI have been using an Access Database with no problems, using a form (with a sub-form) to input all of the data. Recently the data on the sub-form is not saving to the tables/reports. I enter the data, save and close the form and re-open the record and it is not there. Previously I have been able to save all data using the form and have not altered the form.

Issue is, when i store the value in the access, a weird character is assigned before and after the data. The character is a square box with question mark in it. View 9 RepliesUsing VS2010 in Win7-64 bit with VB.NET. The project build has suddenly got extremely slow after an edit. When I build a project for debugging without any source code changes, the project builds very quickly. However, if I make a minor change to the source, such as adding a space, the build delays for 15 sec. Did the obvious things - clean the solution, reboot etc. Source code is a single project with less than 10,000 lines. Reboot, start IDE, click the space bar, build and bam! - 15 sec. delay. Is there a cache or anything that needs to be flushed or deleted?

What I am trying tot achieve is the following:User inputs data in one form that saves to the dataset table no problems. On an edit screen I want the current data saved to appear in this page within all the relevant fields but when saving I want this data to add to the dataset table as an additional line of data so the transaction records are kept.I want to add a new datarow regardless of it saving one change or all 7 changes that are possble.
e.g. Line 1 - user inputs 7 cells of data Line 2 - user amends 2 cells of data Line 3 - user amends 1 cell of data an so on. Unfortunately the terminology for certain items above may not be correct as I am still new to this programming and still on a massive learning curve.At the moment I do not have the code for what I am trying to achieve as I really dont know where to start with it.I am currently able to save the data and have it appear in the "edit" panel however only the cells changed are saved an it overwirtes the initial input.

In my project the "teacher" must enter grades in the Grades database then save it and click the Semester Average button(btnSA)to display the grades in the database. Well I can't the the data to save. After I completely fill in the grades and click the save button in my tool strip I get the following error "OleDbException was unhandled: Command text was not set for the command object"

I have a VB2008 programme that accesses and stores data in a MS Access (XP) Database. I also live in the UK and am use to our funny old ways with dates (today is the 5th April 2010 so I want the Short Date as 05/04/2010 not 04/05/2010)
I am using the following code

The last line runs an SQL query to update the table column latest to the date today but whatever I do to get the date as 05/04/2010 it is saved as 04/05/2010. I have tried setting the culture to "en-GB" at the start but this does not work. It does not matter if the latest column is in Date/Time or String format
