Error Saving Data To Access, Auto-number Datatype?

orking with vb 2010 and ms access as data base, just newbie.im trying to save the loged out date and time to my access table by selecting from tblloghist wherein my column SystemUserID is equal to my textbox SysID(located at my form) then it will save the timelogedout by getting the value of lbltime from my form. the problem is the data type property of my column SystemUserId is in autonumber so i got error saying "Data type mismatch in criteria expression"

The ID field in my db is set to autonumber. In vb, when i run the app, and add a record, leaving the ID textbox empty as it should generate automatically, it gives the following error.

I created a access table with three fields, CustomerID, FirstName, LastNameI set the CustomerID field to the primary key and the type of AutonumberIn my VB app I dragged the three fields over to my form.I clicked on the plus sign at the top and it displayed -1 in the customer field, I entered a First Name and a Last Name and press the save button. I repeated the process 2 more times and the CustomerID field went from -2 to -3.I looked at my table in acces and all three records showed 1, 2 & 3 as it should. When I exited the form and then open the form again it shows record numbers 1, 2 & 3 as it should.How come it takes exiting the form and then back in to see the correct CustomerID's ?

I am having Syntax Error problem with the Insert and Update statement on using VB and Access that is having an AutoNumber that works also as Primary Key, the below is my code for it. I'v designed a ms access database table with one field having Datetime datatype. I can Insert data into it from vb.net front end by trns_dt DateTime.Now.DateBut when I fetch records from the tableand assign the dataset datasource as da, it shows datatype mismatch error.

I am using Visual Studio 2005 (Visual Basic) and MS Access 2003 I am trying to build an application in the lines of the book "Doing Objects in Visual Basic 2005" by Deborah Kurata. So, I have a Data Access Layer (DAL) Class Library that is separated from the business logic layer (business objects) Class Library. I try to add a new business object such as a "Customer" to the Access Database, where the "Customer" table has a PrimaryKey "CustomerID" which is an AutoNumber field. I am successful in writing the values to the database, but I can't figure out how to know the "CustomerID" of a newly added "Customer" so I can populate the business object with the respective values.

I am having trouble saving data from a VB Windows form to an Access database. I can retrieve the data ok but when I try to save back using the test code snippet below, I always get a Syntax error at the Update line no matter how I code the update. I have been using an Access Database with no problems, using a form (with a sub-form) to input all of the data. Recently the data on the sub-form is not saving to the tables/reports. I enter the data, save and close the form and re-open the record and it is not there. Previously I have been able to save all data using the form and have not altered the form.

I am using thprocedure "UpdateDatabaseBySQL"to save data in to my MS Access table using VS 2010. The problem is, sometimes when I retreive the values from the database, they are blank. But my save procedure worked well. If I pause the app for 10 seconds and query,everything works. So what I did was add System.Threading.

I am currently working on a vb project. What I am trying to do is reading a XML file and saving all the data in to the Access DB. Once this is done, I read the data from the access Db and display it in the required fields in VB form. Issue is, when i store the value in the access, a weird character is assigned before and after the data. The character is a square box with question mark in it. Also the same character displays on the VB form as well

I set the phone number field to number datatype.......in the access database...the field size is set to long integer.While trying to save a data in the database, when i enter a 10 digit number then an exception is thrown but upto 9 digit it works great.

I am trying to set autocomplete for a textbox using data from a column in a table an Access database. Some of those records in the table have no values. I have set the AutoComplete Mode property to SuggestAppend and the AutoCompleteSource property to CustomSource. When I run the application nothing happens when I type into the textbox. The dataset is called DatabaseDataSet and the table name in the database is called Simple and the specific field/colum is called SIM_TAG1

I am working on a program where some application config info is stored in a Userconfig.xml file. I am loading the file as an XMLDataProvider in the XAML via relative URI:

I'm I created a SQL Compact database for a program I'm working on and built the tables and forms. I'm trying to add the values entered into the textbox in to my SQL DB, but I keep getting the following Error Message.

The file structure is fine for retrieving data from the file but when I go to write data to the elements and hit any of the fixed array elements, I get an exception error. this has got to be a sytax problem I am just not seeing.
It seems that I am not addressing the array member correctly yet the same logic pulls it properly from existing records on file.

anything wrong with using datatype object and determine datatype in class property?
