Number Data Type In Access Not Updated?

i am getting the xml using readxml method. And then display the data in datagrid. But number type columns comes as string type in the dataset. So when datagrid displays , sortingdatagrid columns is not correct. For example it sorts like this:
Salary
1180
12133
[code]......

View 3 RepliesI'v designed a ms access database table with one field having Datetime datatype. I can Insert data into it from vb.net front end by trns_dt DateTime.Now.DateBut when I fetch records from the tableand assign the dataset datasource as da, it shows datatype mismatch error.

I would expect to see the path.Path include the new record, however, I also notice that tempnextgen also include the new record. Can anyone help me out on this issue? Why the tempnextgen got updated as well, how to prevent this unexpected operation?
my application has a data table, one of the column set as decimal type to store number, data is read from a text file and store into the data table, then display in a datagridview, I found when that number is only 1 digit, that cell displays nothing (I think no number is being store in that cell), if I type a 1 digit number into that cell is fine. for example,
1.1 [ok]
12 [ok]
0.15 [ok]
4 [not display]
9 [not display]
-23.8 [ok]
so which data type I should use on this column, in order to display all this possible numbers

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to write my first application which connects to an Access db. It took me hours to understand this, but I figured out that, if during the creation of the connection I chose to copy the mdb file in my project directory (VB asks this), I get that the database is not updated. Everything works, except the save button which saves new rows in the db. If I answer no, and the original mdb file is used, the database is correctly updated as expected. Is there a reason for this? Why is this happening? Shouldn't the database bu updated anyway?

It uses a datatable which is filled on form load and bound to a datagrid at design time. The datatable is stored on a shared drive. The data table on the shared drive is updated in two ways:
1) Users can update the datagrid which then updates the datatable on the shared drive via the data adapter's Update method.
2) A server application does some work on some text files, periodically updating the data table.
I need the clients to reflect the changes to the data table on the shared drive as closely to real-time as possible. I know that the data table stored in memory on the client is disconnected from the data table on the shared drive, so I must query again to get the updates.
1) Is there an alternvative model I can use which is connected, and which will automatically reflect the updates in the data table on the shared drive?
2) If not, what is the best way to check for changes in the data table (so I can know when to call the data adapter fill method)? I am planning to poll the drive for a change to the .mdb file, raise an event and then fill the data adapter when the event is triggered. I am using this method successfully now to check for changes to a text file in another application, and I know how to implement it?

We are trying to store DateTime values in an Oracle Date field. However, the precision is being lost. Currently only the year, month, and date are being stored. We need better precision than this.
