Retrieve Auto-Number Field Value For A Newly Added Record In MS Access?

I am using Visual Studio 2005 (Visual Basic) and MS Access 2003 I am trying to build an application in the lines of the book "Doing Objects in Visual Basic 2005" by Deborah Kurata. So, I have a Data Access Layer (DAL) Class Library that is separated from the business logic layer (business objects) Class Library. I try to add a new business object such as a "Customer" to the Access Database, where the "Customer" table has a PrimaryKey "CustomerID" which is an AutoNumber field. I am successful in writing the values to the database, but I can't figure out how to know the "CustomerID" of a newly added "Customer" so I can populate the business object with the respective values.

I've read about @@Identity. I've also read that it's no longer supported. I get lost in the mountains of data searching provides.I'd like to get the "ID" field, which is an AutoNumber Primary Key field, when I insert a new record. There's got to be a simple way.

so below is my code. I am trying to get the autonumber generated in newdb into txtcallid field. the error i get is that the field is not unique. What i am trying to do is to get the form to fill the db witha new blank record, assign the auto number and then display that number with the blank record info in my form. I will be making it so that the data must be changed before saving so that the form will not be blank save for when it is loaded.

I have a simple application for taking Customer orders and their Products. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition and MS Access 2007.My application uses multiple forms. One of the forms is an Add form from where a New Customer along with his/her details like address, phone, city, state etc can be added. Another form is for the Product Details to be added.I want to know how to retrieve a CustomerID from an MS Access 2007 database for either the newly added Customer or an existing one and insert multiple rows or records for the same CustomerID, as a Customer can order multiple products. Probably a simple question for most of you. I'm putting members of a group into a SQL Database so we can better manage attendance and 'points' that they earn for doing work. I've written the program in VB and have the SQL server running fine. However, I have created a separate table to handle the points and have marked the relationship between the table - the column is named 'PointID', and should be unique for each person. When I add a new user to the database, I want it to automatically assign a value to that without me having to do anything extra beyond pressing save. From this PointID, it should identify the user and it will bring up the person's points.

I have an Access table which has an auto-number primary key. When I add a new record to it I want to be able to get the value of this field.
The relevant code I have is:

on form1 , i have a combobox and a label. on form 2 , i have a checkbox , a textbox , and a label . in the textbox i input the name to be added to form 1 by combobox checked, and the label has a folder directory.
i can add the new item to the combobox on form 1, from the checked box on form 2. what i can't seem to figure out, is how to get the form1.combobox newly added item to show the folder directory label from form 2 on the form1's directory label when i click on the combobox item..

I have a Datatable where i added data from textbox when i want to edit selected datatable rows from gridview to eidit these values will be showing in their respected fields but when i click update button the only first row in gridview will be updated either i select first row or any other row in gridview for editing whereas i want to update the selected rows data. I'm trying to build a new customer data entry page for a db project. One of the features I would like to add is a way to check and see if there have been any new records that have been added that haven't been explicitly saved to the db. If so, when the form_closing events fires I want to evaluate whether or not new entries have been made that weren't saved, and then count the number of rows that haven't been saved.

I've created a database in Access 2007 and connected it to Visual Basic 2008. My database have tables Coachee and Coach. Details of Coachee are displayed in one form and there's a button that when clicked will show details of the Coach of that particular Coachee in a another form. If the Coach is not in database, user will be prompt to insert a new Coach record. Problem is, when saved, the newly inserted record will not be displayed and i have to exit and rerun the program, only then the record will be displayed.

2- IDD = number
3- name = text
now if I add 10 names in the table from (1-10) =1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 ,10
then if I delete name number 6 the IDD field will rearrange it self from( 1-9)=1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 instead of 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10

now if I add 10 names in the table from (1-10) =123456789 10 then I deleted name number 6 the IDD field will renumber it self from( 1-9)=123456789 instead of 1234578910 so in reports and queries the names will appear numberd from 1 to last number with out missing numbers in the middle of numbering I use in MS-Access code which does this perfactly

I have a program that adds controls on the fly to an auto-scroll panel. When the panel is scrolled (viewing the bottom of the panel for example) and a control is added, it looks like it is added assuming the top left corner of the panel is still at 0,0 when in fact it may be 0,500. But If I had not use an auto implemented property and declared my own backing-field as follows this is accessible from the subclass: Private _Enabled as Boolean ---- EDIT ----
The abve line is incorrect - this is not possible, it was in fact Protected in the original code which allowed access from the sub class See @JonSkeet answer ---- EDIT Of course I can just access Enabled from the sub class to work around this but can someone explain why this is the behaviour?

I created a access table with three fields, CustomerID, FirstName, LastNameI set the CustomerID field to the primary key and the type of AutonumberIn my VB app I dragged the three fields over to my form.I clicked on the plus sign at the top and it displayed -1 in the customer field, I entered a First Name and a Last Name and press the save button. I repeated the process 2 more times and the CustomerID field went from -2 to -3.I looked at my table in acces and all three records showed 1, 2 & 3 as it should. When I exited the form and then open the form again it shows record numbers 1, 2 & 3 as it should.How come it takes exiting the form and then back in to see the correct CustomerID's ?

orking with vb 2010 and ms access as data base, just newbie.im trying to save the loged out date and time to my access table by selecting from tblloghist wherein my column SystemUserID is equal to my textbox SysID(located at my form) then it will save the timelogedout by getting the value of lbltime from my form. the problem is the data type property of my column SystemUserId is in autonumber so i got error saying "Data type mismatch in criteria expression"
