Retrieve Auto-number To Show In Vb Field

so below is my code. I am trying to get the autonumber generated in newdb into txtcallid field. the error i get is that the field is not unique. What i am trying to do is to get the form to fill the db witha new blank record, assign the auto number and then display that number with the blank record info in my form. I will be making it so that the data must be changed before saving so that the form will not be blank save for when it is loaded.

I am using Visual Studio 2005 (Visual Basic) and MS Access 2003 I am trying to build an application in the lines of the book "Doing Objects in Visual Basic 2005" by Deborah Kurata. So, I have a Data Access Layer (DAL) Class Library that is separated from the business logic layer (business objects) Class Library. I try to add a new business object such as a "Customer" to the Access Database, where the "Customer" table has a PrimaryKey "CustomerID" which is an AutoNumber field. I am successful in writing the values to the database, but I can't figure out how to know the "CustomerID" of a newly added "Customer" so I can populate the business object with the respective values.

Probably a simple question for most of you. I'm putting members of a group into a SQL Database so we can better manage attendance and 'points' that they earn for doing work. I've written the program in VB and have the SQL server running fine. However, I have created a separate table to handle the points and have marked the relationship between the table - the column is named 'PointID', and should be unique for each person. When I add a new user to the database, I want it to automatically assign a value to that without me having to do anything extra beyond pressing save. From this PointID, it should identify the user and it will bring up the person's points.

I'm writing a program for my algebra students to practice integers.Stuff like....
3-6
-4 + (-5)
3(-4)
-15 � 3
etc.
I want to show an explanation and for the addition and subtraction, I want to show it on a number line. For example, if the problem is 3 - 7, the number line should show and arrow to that goes right to 3, and then left 7 units (starting from 3). Then the student can see that the answer is -4.I could probably do this with some string manipulation, but what would be the easiest way to do it in a picture format? Maybe a bitmap.

The following VB code is from an application that I am developing. It establishes a record set by executing a SQL query on a SQL connection (ADODB). On the first pass through, the statement fails with an error 91, I trap it and re-execute the sub and then the statement works! The statement that fails is italicized and bolded below.

In VB if you prompt the user for a number between 1-20, then a word, how do you get a text box to show the word the same number of time as the number selected using loops?... Ex: please select a number: 4 / select a word: cat....the text box should display ::: catcatcatcat ........

I have a small page, with a button on it. When I click the button I'd like the code to look at a a field (call the field "InvoiceNumber") in a table (call it "InvoiceTable"), take the last number stored, increment it by "1" then store it back in the "InvoiceTable" and display the new invoice number on the page.Currently the button is called "New Invoice", so clicking this button is going to create a new invoice, with a number one newer than the latest one in the table.

I have text field that a user enters a date in. Based on what they enter a drop down box will appear or not appear. To obtain the info for the code to control the drop down I am using an auto post back on the text box. This is however making the app a bit clumsy as the user is taken back to the top of the page.

how i can implement below requirement using asp.net and vb.net.I have three fields in a form which are filled by users. Based on these three values, i need to auto-populate the 4th field.I have planned to implement this in the following way.Write a separate class file with a function to calculate the possible values for the 4th fields based on 1st 3 inputs. This function can return some where between 1-10 values. So I've decided to use drop-down for 4th field, and allow users to select the appropriate value.Call the above function in onchange function of 3rd field and take and use the return values to populate the 4th field. I'm planning to get the return values in array field.(Does this need a post back?)

I have a simple application for taking Customer orders and their Products. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition and MS Access 2007.My application uses multiple forms. One of the forms is an Add form from where a New Customer along with his/her details like address, phone, city, state etc can be added. Another form is for the Product Details to be added.I want to know how to retrieve a CustomerID from an MS Access 2007 database for either the newly added Customer or an existing one and insert multiple rows or records for the same CustomerID, as a Customer can order multiple products. The abve line is incorrect - this is not possible, it was in fact Protected in the original code which allowed access from the sub class See @JonSkeet answer ---- EDIT Of course I can just access Enabled from the sub class to work around this but can someone explain why this is the behaviour?

i'm importing a text file into a access table like this:

my question is what is the best way to add an autonumber to the table? i currently do it like this:

but when the file is too large i get this error: "File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry."
