Jul 14, 2009I am trying to retrieve data to a textbox from a datagridview. I have Tabcontrol with two tabs naming Data Sheet View and Form View. The datagridview is in Data Sheet view while my textboxes are in Form View.

May 7, 2008I have 10 IP address I need saved so that when the programed is closed the user doesn't have to re type them all back in. To get around this I created a database that would store the values. My table contains one Field "host" and then has all 10 IP addresses listed below that.I'm trying to figure out how to make a text box on my form look at a certain row in a SQLServer 2005 table.
For example:
txtIP1.text = Row 1 of SQL table
txtIP2.text = Row 2 of SQL table

1) Retrieve user data entered in those textboxes without an event handler
2) Find a specific one of those textboxex later (is looping thru all controls of type "textbox" the only way)?

Mar 26, 2012so below is my code. I am trying to get the autonumber generated in newdb into txtcallid field. the error i get is that the field is not unique. What i am trying to do is to get the form to fill the db witha new blank record, assign the auto number and then display that number with the blank record info in my form. I will be making it so that the data must be changed before saving so that the form will not be blank save for when it is loaded.

Jul 14, 2009I am using Visual Studio 2005 (Visual Basic) and MS Access 2003 I am trying to build an application in the lines of the book "Doing Objects in Visual Basic 2005" by Deborah Kurata. So, I have a Data Access Layer (DAL) Class Library that is separated from the business logic layer (business objects) Class Library. I try to add a new business object such as a "Customer" to the Access Database, where the "Customer" table has a PrimaryKey "CustomerID" which is an AutoNumber field. I am successful in writing the values to the database, but I can't figure out how to know the "CustomerID" of a newly added "Customer" so I can populate the business object with the respective values.

Table 1 contains account data, address, contact details etc. Table two contains data attached to a Person, tel no , Mobile no, Email etc. Table three contains details on what awards the person holds, i.e. one person can hold several awards.
Therefore I have a one many relationship between the first two tables and a one many relationship between the second two tables. This is set up in SQL
The first two tables are shown on a form, table 1 via a set of text boxes, table 2 via a datagrid control.
I would like the functionality whereby I could select a row in the datagrid showing the persons name and find the Persons_ID number then use that as a filter to a second datagrid view so that only the selected persons awards show in the datagrid.
