I have a textbox for each day of week and I need to access the data in the textbox for the current day. In other words, if it is Tuesday I need to display the text in Tuesdays textbox automatically on startup. The data has been saved and can accessed.

orking with vb 2010 and ms access as data base, just newbie.im trying to save the loged out date and time to my access table by selecting from tblloghist wherein my column SystemUserID is equal to my textbox SysID(located at my form) then it will save the timelogedout by getting the value of lbltime from my form. the problem is the data type property of my column SystemUserId is in autonumber so i got error saying "Data type mismatch in criteria expression"

View 6 RepliesI am trying to set autocomplete for a textbox using data from a column in a table an Access database. Some of those records in the table have no values. I have set the AutoComplete Mode property to SuggestAppend and the AutoCompleteSource property to CustomSource. When I run the application nothing happens when I type into the textbox. The dataset is called DatabaseDataSet and the table name in the database is called Simple and the specific field/colum is called SIM_TAG1

I am building a form in access database.
I have a combo box which is linked to a query which is looking up a unique reference number from a table called Tbl_Submitted_Requests.
What I need the form to do is auto populate the other text boxes when the user selects the unique reference from the combo box. How can I get the text boxes to auto populate with the data that is associated with each unique reference?

View 9 RepliesI have a data set with a parent child relationship between a patient table and an insurance table. There can be up to 4 insurances for each patient. I want to display them in 4 separate panels of a vb.net form. So if a patient had 2 insurances, then txtName1.text on panel 1 would have the company name of the first insurance, txtName2.text on panel 2 would hold the company name of the second insurance, and so on.
How do I display only the insurances related to the current patient? I've tried moving through the rows of the related table, but that gives me all the rows, not the ones I need. Everything I see on the internet suggest using a datagrid, but that's not an option in this case.

I have designed my form like this it has a combo box and several text boxes. In the form load I want to load the customer IDs of my customer table into my Combo box.Customer IDs data type is varchar and this part is working in my form.The next thing that I want to do is if a user select a single user ID from the combo box I need to display the first name last name and there are several fields of that selected customer id in the text boxes.If anyone can help me in this it'll be a great help.I have designed my data base in sql server 2008 and I'm using visual studio 2008.I added a new sqldata adapter and I created the data set.But I want to know how to pass the selected id of the combo box as the select parameter of sql statement and how to bind data to the text boxes.

This is a learning exercise for me as I am coming back from not programming for almost 10 years, and know there are lots of other ways to manage this data, but I'm just trying to understand different aspects of ADO.net a little better.

Well, I don't have trouble accessing the database file. In fact, I don't have trouble running a query on those three fields containing text values, either. But I have trouble making a query on numerical fields. If I run the following, the application will exhibit a data mismatch error.

In my application, I have a data bound form using a binding control (built by the wizard). The application has one primary data screen plus a few more on tabcontrol subscreens.Picture for example that the tabcontrol has two tabs, tab1 and tab2.When the form is displayed, tab1 is visible.Now picture the form or window split in half the top part of the form has a few textbox controls bound to the data and there are a few textbox controls in the lower half of the screen on tab1 of tabcontrol1.There are a few textbox controls on tab2 as well.When the form displays, I can access any of the .text properties of any of the textbox's that I can see on the form and in tab1 of the tabcontrol.BEFORE tab2 is chosen or even, I need to get some of the data from the .text property on a textbox control that is on tab2.I have tried to get the data but as far as VB is concerned, it does not appear to be there UNTIL tab2 is displayed.
To prove this, I put a command button on the form and it simply does this: MSGBOX (mytext box33. text)mytextbox33 is a databound control on tab2 of the tabcontrol1.tab2 is not in focus and apparently, neither is the data.how can I read the .text property of a textbox that is on a form but the form (or tab) is not in focus?

I have previously asked a questions regarding DataGridView control:[URL].. now I'm trying to make the first column to include an autosuggestion. ie. when a user types an ID(say, "12") then all the records that starts with it(ie. "12*") will be displayed as suggestion.
And upon clicking an ID, the corresponding product_name will be displayed on the next column. I think, I could do this using Validating() event of DataGridView.
After I have retrieved my data from my access database, I would like to insert text into one of the columns in a new row. Is this possible? Here's a snipit of my code I use to retrieve the data from access:
