I have a simple vb.net app and I'm trying to update a one row Access table with data from some textboxes. This is a learning exercise for me as I am coming back from not programming for almost 10 years, and know there are lots of other ways to manage this data, but I'm just trying to understand different aspects of ADO.net a little better.
The ERROR I'm trapping is:
"Syntax error in UPDATE Statement"
Any thought's as to what is going on? (See CODE and stuff below)

In my application, I have a data bound form using a binding control (built by the wizard). The application has one primary data screen plus a few more on tabcontrol subscreens.Picture for example that the tabcontrol has two tabs, tab1 and tab2.When the form is displayed, tab1 is visible.Now picture the form or window split in half the top part of the form has a few textbox controls bound to the data and there are a few textbox controls in the lower half of the screen on tab1 of tabcontrol1.There are a few textbox controls on tab2 as well.When the form displays, I can access any of the .text properties of any of the textbox's that I can see on the form and in tab1 of the tabcontrol.BEFORE tab2 is chosen or even, I need to get some of the data from the .text property on a textbox control that is on tab2.I have tried to get the data but as far as VB is concerned, it does not appear to be there UNTIL tab2 is displayed.
To prove this, I put a command button on the form and it simply does this: MSGBOX (mytext box33. text)mytextbox33 is a databound control on tab2 of the tabcontrol1.tab2 is not in focus and apparently, neither is the data.how can I read the .text property of a textbox that is on a form but the form (or tab) is not in focus?
I was using 2 forms, the first one has general data capture and the second one is a calendar form. On Form1 I have mulitple windows controls. A Textb ox and beside a Calendar button. When I click on a Calendar Command button, it should open calendar form and once the user selects the date, the date should be placed in the text box on the form1. Identical to this on Form1 I need multiple textboxes that needs date to be captured.I cannot use a global variable for this as I need to validate mulitple text boxes. To explain this, I have a Transaction Date and Date Received. I need to validate whether Transaction date is prior Date Received or not? I dont want to use several global variables b'coz I might need multiple validations as above. Please help me on this.

I am writing a signout program in vs2008 using an access database.I have created forms and can call student and equipment info from the tables.I got the sign out part working and can add data rows to my table containing that information now I seem to be stuck in a stupid place. Signing the equipment back in I call the record to fill a form now all I want to do is add the date to the RETURNDATE column and save the record back to the DB and I am stuck at that point and cant seem to find the answer on the web.
I have a function called textupdate that updates text1.text value. when i call this function in Form1_Load, text1 is updated successfully. However, when i call this function in Private Shared Sub function2, no update is done. I am a newbie in vb.net programming and it may be a silly question but I could not solve it

im still stuck and i really to get past this and move onto the rest of my program. I'm trying to update a textbox with new text from another class on another thread. I can get this to work no problem on another thread with the same class, and on the same thread in another class. but not on another thread on another class. my code looks like this, when it is run to produces no errors but does not add the test to the text box, what is wierd is i had made some changes to the program to add multiplelines to consolebox.text and then checked console.text from form2 and it produces the values i added but those arent reflected inside in the consolebox for some reason.

Actually my text file is a dump file and i need to make a program to process this dump file. I may ask some stupid questions but this is just a beginning, i want to parse INDIVIDUAL text file line by line. In the above code i have used the ReadToEnd function in order to display it in TextBox but i may use ReadLine Function or Read function to read line by line or characters respectively.

I'm an experienced Office & VBA programmer, I am new to .NET programming. I'm in the process of migrating an Access 2007 database application from Access to Visual Studio Visual Basic project for further development. I am making a booking system. I am using same form for insertion and updation. How can I update by taking the values from the textboxes. For example if the user enters value for just 2 out of 8 fields then How can i update just 2 fields without affecting the rest of the record. I mean to say that if I use a single update query using all the fields then if some textbox is left empty then it will replace the database field value by null or something else.
currently i had a program which working fine when its running in the solution explorer,but after published,problem comes.my datagridview cant show updated data while my database access already update...my datagridview only show existed data.could it be my datagrid problem?i get my data programmatically or is my INSERT command doesn't update the dataset?but in the solution explorer does show the dataset was updated. Tried searching and found some related issues but none exactly like I was having I iterate thorugh a DGV and write to one of the fields of the row. After it writes this field, I do an update() command.
This is my first post on this forum, so please excuse me if I'm posting wrong. Anyway, I've been having an issue that I've never seen before and is driving me nut, I have a windows form on which I have placed many textboxes that display information from a MS SQL database. The user can then change these values and hit a "save" button which writes the changes to the database. I also have certain textboxes that with the "on leave" event (after a user enters a possible new value) trigger a method that recalculates some of the other fields based on the new information. Hopefully that all makes sense.
So the problem is, when I run through this "recalc" method the first time around, it doesn't update those textboxes that it's supposed to. However, when I put a breakpoint in and debug through it, the debugger shows it putting in the correct values into the textboxes. It's just as soon as the method is done, it puts them back to blank, or whatever they were before

I have a table in access with 3 columns 1st is called userid and is a primary key and auto number 2nd is first name 3rd is last name. I have a button on my form and when I click it I want it to load the last userid listed in the access table and put in a textbox, say txtuserid.
