I have a table in access with 3 columns 1st is called userid and is a primary key and auto number 2nd is first name 3rd is last name. I have a button on my form and when I click it I want it to load the last userid listed in the access table and put in a textbox, say txtuserid. So if the records in the table looked something like
0001 james cold
0002 nick case
0003 john doe
When I click the button I want the last user id in the records to come into the textbox, so in the example that would be 0003, my connection is already set up.

I have a window application develpoed in vs 2008, framework 3.5, in which i have put a button.. Now where i click that button the other text boxes are filled up with the data from database thru web service.. what i want is while all text boxes are being filled i want to show an animated loading gif image till data loading is completed in all the text boxes.. i have tried to use image picture box but while data is loading gif image is displyes but in static mode.. cant see animation... i think this is because data loading and animation both are done thru one UI thread..

I have a simple vb.net app and I'm trying to update a one row Access table with data from some textboxes. This is a learning exercise for me as I am coming back from not programming for almost 10 years, and know there are lots of other ways to manage this data, but I'm just trying to understand different aspects of ADO.net a little better.

Is it possible to have a Textbox on a form that when the user inputs data, ( during Runtime )that data remains in the Textbox for good and the Textbox then becomes read only ? Is it also possible to make it so that the CD with the programme on, is in the PC when the programme is being used. Perhaps writing the Textbox data back onto the CD ?
I've created a basic search form. I have a textbox with a search button and an Access Database as the backend. I have also added it as a new datasource. What I'm looking to do is grab the search string from one textbox and return the data to another textboxt. I have a table called "VehicleInfo" and I want to search the field in my table called "VehicleID" and return the vehicleID I searched for into another textbox. I'm really new to VB. In my application, I have a data bound form using a binding control (built by the wizard). The application has one primary data screen plus a few more on tabcontrol subscreens.Picture for example that the tabcontrol has two tabs, tab1 and tab2.When the form is displayed, tab1 is visible.Now picture the form or window split in half the top part of the form has a few textbox controls bound to the data and there are a few textbox controls in the lower half of the screen on tab1 of tabcontrol1.There are a few textbox controls on tab2 as well.When the form displays, I can access any of the .text properties of any of the textbox's that I can see on the form and in tab1 of the tabcontrol.BEFORE tab2 is chosen or even, I need to get some of the data from the .text property on a textbox control that is on tab2.I have tried to get the data but as far as VB is concerned, it does not appear to be there UNTIL tab2 is displayed.
To prove this, I put a command button on the form and it simply does this: MSGBOX (mytext box33. text)mytextbox33 is a databound control on tab2 of the tabcontrol1.tab2 is not in focus and apparently, neither is the data.how can I read the .text property of a textbox that is on a form but the form (or tab) is not in focus?
I am trying to set autocomplete for a textbox using data from a column in a table an Access database. Some of those records in the table have no values. I have set the AutoComplete Mode property to SuggestAppend and the AutoCompleteSource property to CustomSource. When I run the application nothing happens when I type into the textbox. The dataset is called DatabaseDataSet and the table name in the database is called Simple and the specific field/colum is called SIM_TAG1

I've got a textbox using a custom auto complete source, which gathers info from what the user has previously typed. Problem is, I can't figure out how to have that source saved when the application closes and loaded when the application opens.
I am a former IT student and have not used VB in a little while but feel it can come in handy to help me complete some tasks at work.I am trying to write a small program which will open a url + a number for each number entered into the textbox. The purpose of this is at work, we have an employee database and would like to load multiple employees at once (upto 6 at a time) to compare profiles. The issue with doing this manually is we have to fill out the search criteria for each, instead, I would like to load a link with parameters in it already filled out + the employee number we are searching for each number entered into a textbox on a VB form.
I am trying to write a vb2008 program that allows a user to select an airport from a combobox and then once the value has been selected it searches a comma separated text file once it has found the airport selected ( always the first column in the file) in the file it populates 8 other textboxes with the row data from the file. The idea is to select the airport and then it calls up the radio frequencies associated with the airport.I assume you have to call the data into an array and the search thorough the array until the combobox.selectedvalue = the value in the array, but i am unsure how to do this Ideally I would like to be able to the user to add data to the file thats why I used a combox, but I am having trouble trying to get the boxes to populate so first things first.
