Forms :: Dynamically Load User Control In A Form?
Apr 26, 2011
I dynamically load a user control in a form (Form 1).
In my user control there are two things :
a Textbox (TxtBox1) and a Command Button
WHen the button is clicked, it opens a new form (Form 2) Form2.ShowDialog()
My question is, in Form 2, how can i set a value to TxtBox1 of the user control?

I'm trying to do the following.I want to use a gridview to load a set of associated records dynamically based upon the input of the user.I want the gridview to have a checkbox to the left of the records and allow the user to use this to select records to remove. The gridview will have pages and will be sortable using the columns.I had this working using a delete button, but when I went to using the checkbox it stopped sorting.

What I have is a user control that has two RichTextBoxes. In the user control, there is RichTextBox1's TextChanged event, I want it to set RichTextBox2's Text to the same as RichTextBox1's Text, I'm currently using: RichTextBox2.Text = RichTextBox1.Text. The user control is on the main form, when I run the application and type I get this error: StackOverflowExecption was unhandled. [Code]

I have a UserControl.ascx which essentially outputs the Name and Email of the user currently logged in (stored in session variables, for the record) at the top of every page on my website. Said control is currently called by Site.Master using <%Html.RenderPartial("UserControl")%>.
It works fine when I log in for the first time and my details are displayed correctly, but when I log out and try to log in again something strange happens...
The Control itself tests the condition Session("auth"), which my controller sets to true upon authenticating a user and which it forces to false when the logout button is pressed. All session variables are cleared upon logging out.
(For the record, my user control used to check Request.IsAuthenticated rather than Session("auth") to determine the current Session State. The same issue arised.)
The problem is that when I try to log in as a different user, instead of showing the new user's information in the header, nothing appears beside Name: and Email: (see code below). I suspect this is because UserControl.ascx is not updating its state.
Ideally, I'd like a solution which would force UserControl to check Session variables every time a page is loaded. Is there a clean way to achieve this?
<%@ Control Language="VB" AutoEventWireup = "false" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl" %>

I am upgrading user control from vb6 to vb.net.In the vb6 application I am loading 3000 labels using a label control array.In vb.net I am doing same but it's taking too much time to load.In vb6 it's taking 1-2 seconds, but in vb.net it's taking 30-40 seconds for same work. Why does it take too much time in vb.net for same work?Code is given below, here Led is the label control array.
For l = 1 To 3000
Led.Load(ledCounter)
ColLed.Add(Led(ledCounter))

I have a user control that is created within a tab control every time a user creates a new tab, so each tab on a tab control contains a new instance of the user control. From within the user control I would like to get the parent tab's index, so that I can dynamically alter properties of the tab, such as the tab's title.

I have a DataGridViewImageColumn that should display an image for only certain rows. After I bind a generic list of classes to my datagrid, I loop through each row and update the image cell with an image that is an embedded resource for the rows that require the image. This works great if the form has been fully loaded. However, when I attempt this on form load the image doesn't show up? I also can't perform simpler things such as changing the row background color on form load. Should I be performing this logic in a different event after form load?
For i As Integer = 0 To dgvRoles.Rows.Count - 1
Dim imageStream As System.IO.Stream = Nothing
imageStream = Me.GetType().Assembly.GetManifestResourceStream("MyApplication.Timer.png")

I have two usercontrols. One is loaded statically another dynamically.In the aspx page I can write as follows for static user control.
ProgramAddSchedule.onNewProgram += new AddProgram.OnNewProgramClick(onNewProgram_btnHandler);
But dynamically loaded control's event I am not able to get
Control myUserControl = (Control)Page.LoadControl("~/View/EditScheduleProgram.ascx");
How do I get the event of the dynamically loaded control?

I have created a User Control in VB 2005 that adds other controls dynamically. This is a fairly simple test project, with checkboxes added to the control at run-time. Here's the user control:
Public
Class UserControl1
Public x
[Code]......
Then I built the test control and tried to added it to the Toolbox. When I did this--i.e., browsed to the dll and double-clicked it, I got the errror message:
"There are no components in ... that can be placed in the toolbox."
Is it even possible to add a User Control to the Toolbox without compile-time components?

I have a user control which is essentially a main menu I can place it into my MasterPage hard-coded, but I don't want that, I want to be able to dynamically place it with the code behind of the MasterPage.
<controls:mainMenu ID='MainMenu1' runat='server' />
So what I am looking to do is something like
if **condition is true ** _ response.write('<controls:mainMenu ID='MainMenu1' runat='server' />')
Of course, I know that won't work, but how would I place the control based on a condition in code behind on the master page?

I have the user control that is loaded dynamically. When the user save the data by clicking on the Save button, a raise event is passed.
Public Sub RaiseCloseEvent(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
RaiseEvent Close(sender, e)
Debug.Print(String.Format("The control {{0}} was closed by {{1}}.", Me.Name, sender.ToString))
End Sub
In the save button I have called the RaiseCloseEvent as follows:
RaiseCloseEvent(sender, e)
Now, how can I close the user control form? Any Idea? I have used VB.Net language.

I have a created a user control. This user control I dynamically load on a page inside Telerik Panelbar control. I have done all necessary coding to save the viewstate and load this dynamically created usercontrol every time page loads.On this User control I have a asp panel. By default this panel is invisible. When user clicks a button on this user control panel is made visible. On page load of this user control I populate all the controls on this panel.Everything works fine if I dont load this use control dynamically but when I load this user control dynamically and if I make panel visible by default then only all fields on the panel are populated. But if I make by default invisible and on button click make panel visible none of the text boxes or comboboxes are populated. I populate comboboxes on page load of the userControl but inbetween postbacks all the comboboxes on the user control loose data.[code]...

I have a form containing two panels. In both panels there are two labels and textboxes. I set the 'Center In Form' property of the labels and textboxes to 'Horizontally' and 'Vertically' in design time respectively. But as the form is resizable, when the size of the form is increased or decreased at runtime the controls are no longer center aligned in the panels. How can I handle this problem (provided the main form needs to remain sizable)?

I am developing a windows app in VS2008 to be used along side ESRIs ArcMap. Most ArcMap users will have dual monitors and I would like the user to be able to choose which monitor my app is loaded on to.
When I deploy the app using the standard install package, the app will load onto which ever monitor the user places the desktop shortcut. However, when using the ClickOnce method of deployment, the placement of the shortcut does not matter and the app always loads on the primary display monitor.
Is there a way to control where an app is loaded by code or any other method?

I'm adding web user controls to a page dynamically. Using the LoadControl method that only takes a virtual path pointing to the .ascx works pretty nicely. However, the overload of LoadControl that takes a type and an array of parameters is causing me some headaches. The web user control is instantiated as expected, but the controls contained within the web user control are null and I get an exception as soon as I try to work with them. Strange, because it's working when use the first version of LoadControl.
The web user control, simple, with a Literal control:
<%@ Control Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="MyControl.ascx.vb" Inherits="MyControl" %>
<asp:Literal ID="myLiteral" runat="server"></asp:Literal>
The controls' code behind:
Public Class MyControl
Inherits System.Web.UI.UserControl
Public Property Data As MyData
[code]....
And the relevant code from the .aspx from which I'm trying to dynamically load the control:
Private Sub Page_Init(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
Dim x = LoadControl(GetType(MyControl), New Object() {New MyData With {.ID = 117}})
Page.Controls.Add(x)
[code]....

I have this code which is working fine;
Private Function GetForm(ByVal frmName As String, ByVal asm As Assembly) As Form
Dim types As Type()
Dim t As Type
types = asm.GetTypes
Dim frm As Form
[Code]...
if you will notice, the sub still needs to scan all forms before it display the form, please help to reconstruct the code so that I will not use the "for next" for in types, since assembly and formname are already given/provided.

Using VB 2008. We have an app with a third party grid on it works well enough. This is a small utility within a bigger suite, and adding/updating it involves a simple EXE copy. The issue I am trying to address is that not all customers will have the 3rd party controls on their systems, and we want to avoid deploying them if we can.
Can I build the app so that if the controls are present, the app uses them. But if they are not present, I use a simpler control? I picture using a 'launcher' form that tries to load Form2 with 3rd party. if it errors, then just load Form3 with common controls. But can I even get to that point? With missing controls, will the app even load? I understand Late Binding for objects, but this is a control right on the form. Can I late bind a control and add it to form dynamically perhaps?

I had created a form(MDI Child) which have 3 to 4 dataset on it. They all are loaded from the database at the form load event and therefore takes too much time to load and show some part of form during that time. When it load completely it shows the whole form. Is there any way that user will see the complete form instead of some broken form.

I'm trying to figure out how to resize a form on load to fit to the user's screen. Many of my users are on laptops, or split screens between laptop and monitor..I remember in VB6, it was something like form.height = screen.height (or something of the sort)... but I can't find this functionality in VB.NET 2008. I'm also trying to wrap everything (multiple screens/forms) into one app, so I wanted to know if anyone was aware of any tutorials on form parent/child relationships... I don't want to keep opening and hiding forms individually without having them packaged in one work area....
