I had created a form(MDI Child) which have 3 to 4 dataset on it. They all are loaded from the database at the form load event and therefore takes too much time to load and show some part of form during that time. When it load completely it shows the whole form. Is there any way that user will see the complete form instead of some broken form.
View 4 RepliesI have a form for which the form load event only fires one time. When the program starts. It will not fire again until I end the program and restart. I have tried .show and .showdialog, but it acts the same. I have read about form load events loosing the handles, but my code looks exactly like it should.

In my user control there are two things :
a Textbox (TxtBox1) and a Command Button
WHen the button is clicked, it opens a new form (Form 2) Form2.ShowDialog()
My question is, in Form 2, how can i set a value to TxtBox1 of the user control?
I have a very large program I would like to write but think starting with a smaller test program would be a good idea. What I want to know is: I have a base Form from which a user clicks a button to answer a question (Answer A, B, C, or D) which if the answer is correct will pop up a "Correct! answer response in a separate window. This is ok for now, however, when the "proceed to next question" button is clicked, I would like the next question to appear in the original base form window.
Right now it pops up in a separate window and I'd rather not have 20 windows open at the end of the quiz. How do I load the next form in the same window!? Obviously it's possible and could be something I'm completely overlooking, and I've also read that I could replace all data with the next Form. I have searched "Visual Basic load form in same window" and came up with results, but none of what I'm looking for.
I've been following a codeproject article on using the interop forms toolkit (basically a way for developers to slowly upgrade their VB6 projects to .net by allowing .net components run in VB6)

While the .NET form is working fine in all other testing projects and environments, I've found that the Form_load event is actually firing twice once it's in executing in the VB6 runtime.Not only annoying, its forcing my initialization code to execute twice (causing all kind of problems on the second run).

The insertion part of the form works great. But my problem is in the form load part......If i leave a field blank(Null),then perform Save operation,close the form after successful insertion and then reopen the form,then it retains the previous values during the form load......This is only in case where i leave a field blank in the previous data entry in the database.......But if i enter values in all fields then form load is working great.
How can I load a form and allow it to run it's code in the form load but keep it not visible. I want it to do what it needs to but but not display.

View 1 RepliesI have defined 5 variables T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 As Double and set them all = 0. On a form I have a enter information button. Each time the button is pressed I want to assign a different variable, to a text box input. For instance, If I enter 1 that will become T1, and then if I enter 2 and press the button again, that value becomes T2.
I have tried

I have tried to use 'else' statements and all kinds of things like that to no avail. I can get the first two variables correctly assigned but three is impossible with my current understanding. Is there a way to do this, or do I need 5 buttons, so that I can control which variable is assigned? To be correct my intent is to create an observation with three variables each time the button is pressed.
For example, the first button press will result in three variables being assigned a value other than 0; they are T1, B1, and R1. I have just begun to understand the concept of arrays and am wondering if that may be the way to go in this situation. I was just going at this in a newbie way I'm sure and trying to handle each variable type individually, and figure out all the T* variables and move onto the B* variables.

View 1 RepliesI need to find a Windows forms Text edit which can handle MS Word documents correctly.That is documents with Images, textboxes etc (.doc, .docx).I have tried Devexpress Xtrarichedit and TXText Control but when you load a MS Word Document (.doc, .docx) the document does not appear as it does in MS Word.That is Textboxes overlapping images are misaligned or have no transparent background option, so the white background of the textbox hides part ot the image.Has anybody had experience with 3rd party Document .net editors which mamage MS Word Documents correctly?

The first time I press any of the arrow keys the code is not executed and a NumericUpDown(NUD) on the form gets the focus. The rest of the times the arrow keys are pressed everything is fine, until I click on a button. Then the problem repeats, focus NUD, then fine.
