View 5 RepliesI wrote a program to print deposit tickets using pre-printed deposit forms.The forms are the ones used by Peachtree Accounting.I have used this program with three different printers.All three printers are HP.Now I am using the program but the printer is a Lexmark and the print no longer lines up with the form.The print is now about 3/16" below the place where it was printing.I can change the program to reduce the starting place of the print but if another printer is used the print will be off again.If the HP printer is used then the print will be too high.How can I take this in account for each printer that may be used? For example I have major ID A, and subgroups A0, A1, An. Also I could have more detailed subgroups like A01, A02 and so on. I need to generate and print these barcodes from my VB application. 2. I am working on an application on serial port communication with PLC machine. Now this communication is only done with one PLC at a time. So I m sending a query to PLC and until its responds back the application goes into wait mode. i.e. no other operations can be done, and an hourglass cursor should be displayed with all other components locked on the form. So how do I achieve this using vb.net?
View 3 RepliesI'm using several forms, each requiring access to the serial port. When I switch between them the port is deactivated. The port is activated through a special library command. How can I keep the port open and provide access for the other forms? I'm reopening the port triggered by form_load for form2 but that only works when I go to form2. When I come back to form1 the form_load trigger for form1 doesn't open the port.

I have serial port object which continuously receiving data from weighing device, which sends data in 0001450= format (8 Bytes). I read about datareceived event, and implement that, but i must use Thred.Sleep to get all data and read with serial.ReadExisting. Does the ReadBytesTreshold=8 raised DataReceived event after 8 bytes of data??
Is there any way to cancel, abort, stop DataReceived event?
I created a background image for the form with rounded corners. I filled the outer edges and empty space with Lime color (00FF00) and then set the same transparency key in the properties for my form. It worked well, the edges were transparent and the form appeared round-edged. This was accomplished with Visual Studio .NET 2005 on Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.The very same application was ported to a different platform. Visual Studio .NET 2005 on Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32-bit. All the settings are the same and nothing has been changed. But the transparency effect is not appearing on the Windows XP platform.

Also i am using Crystal Reports for Report solution. my question is How do i created reports such a way that they can be printed in faster Ascii Format on any DotMatrix printer. The default true type fonts make printing very slower.
I tried to use "Draft 10 cpi" font which come to available me after i installed a correct driver for my Epson printer. which also helped me overcome this problem. however it wont be the scenario with all my clients i.e. they might have different printers having different Make with different drivers installed. i have tried to open such project on there PC but the printing wont come in Draft instead the fonts get expanded too much & the print wont come right.
I basically have an application that generates reports in a .html file, I use a .html file for the ease of making tables and formatting text.Now I would like to introduce a way of printing the reports from my program. Because I use a .html file, the formatting would not the correct if I was to print it directly from my application (as far as I know). For this reason, I would like to print it just like my web browser would have in order to keep the tabular data intact and the text formatting.

I use a timer which checks if there is any file to be printed on my database. Example, the timer ticks and selected 10 files to be printed, it should print the 10 files 1 at a time, if there's no print queue, that's the only time the next file should print. I think another timer is required which will keeps on checking if print queue is done. How will i do this?

When I print the output to a PDF file using PDFCreator, it stacks all of the letters onto each other rather than creating new lines at the places I've specified. I've also tried using vbNewLine instead of vbCrLf, but I haven't had any luck. I searched the web for this but couldn't find anything about it.

Im having problem with the Serial Port. When i run my program, "Access to the port 'COM1' is denied". What does that mean? Im not sure whats happening because theres no error in my code. Someone suggest me to use 'COM2'. Which is also the same result. I have a microcontroller, programmed and run it. And i need to capture the data onto my vb, which is on a multiline textbox.
